Chapter 59
Niamh knew her enemies were using her and Castiel's relationship to stir the public's opinion against her and force her into submission. However, the more they did so, the more she wanted everyone to see how she was doing now. "Okay. I'm on it." Quinn understood what Niamh meant.
She knew Simon was initially worried Niamh couldn't cope with things. After all, the Jamison family possessed great authority and power in Greenburg. Simon feared Niamh would be fearful and in disarray, but it seemed his concerns were for nothing. Niamh was composed and was very much in control of herself.
Just then, Niamh picked up her phone and saw a news article with the headline, "Jamison Family's Daughter-in-Law Assaults Another and Refuses to Apologize-Proof That the Powerful Can Defy the Law."
Niamh finally understood why Renee wanted her to return to Jamison Manor. She smirked. "Gosh, it really doesn't stop here, huh?"
It seemed her enemies would think she was weak and docile if she didn't fight back. With that in mind, she dialed Simon's number.
Simon didn't care that it was late and answered the phone right away. That was why he sounded croaky once the call connected. "Niamh?"
"Sorry, I forgot that it's nighttime where you're currently at," Niamh said with an apologetic tone.
She didn't care as much about the news article as much. Even so, this news stunt pulled by her enemies would more or less still affect her career.
"It's not a problem. What's the matter?" Simon answered, knowing Niamh wouldn't have called him unless she had encountered something she couldn't deal with.
After inhaling deeply, Niamh explained, "Castiel bailed out the person who
stirred the public's opinion. I don't know why he did it, but I feel it has to do with Macy..."
Simon let her continue.
"So, I want to track down Macy's kidnapper and get the story behind her eyes and legs as soon as possible!" Niamh was determined to resolve the matter quickly.
Macy's eyes and legs were the cause for Castiel's emotional outbursts. It was unclear why she would use such extreme measures to force Niamh and Castiel to divorce. Perhaps that stupid method was the only thing Macy could think of. That said, Niamh still felt it was impossible for a woman to love a man so much that she was willing to be crippled and blind.
"Okay, I understand," said Simon.
The matter would soon be resolved now that Simon had agreed to help investigate.
Renee had just returned from the hospital and gotten back to Jamison Manor. She never expected to see such shocking news. It rattled her so much that her face turned a hideous shade of green.
"What have I done in our family that's so wrong to deserve this?"
Sienna said nothing.
"Why did our lives get entangled with such a woman's? What rotten luck!" As Renee spoke about it, her voice took on a vicious snarl.
Sienna was always with Renee. She always kept her mother company, regardless of whatever happened. That was why Renee was extra close to her.

"Alright, Mom. Please stop being angry." Sienna thoughtfully approached to soothe Renee.

"How can I not be angry? Were you aware of this, too?"
"Yeah!" Sienna nodded before continuing, "Castiel previously asked Niamh to apologize to Macy. That Macy's pretty generous. She claims to have evidence of Niamh bribing her kidnappers but doesn't want much. All she demands is an apology from Niamh, and she'll let the incident slide."
"She'll let things slide?" Renee looked at Sienna, her eyes wide with surprise.
After all, Macy had lost both her legs and was blind in both eyes. She had suffered a great deal, yet she only asked for an apology before she would drop the matter. How could that be?
Renee eagerly wanted Macy to kick up a bigger fuss. However, the situation still involved the Jamison family's reputation. So, while Renee initially felt displeased with Macy's generosity toward Niamh, she still found Macy fairly sensible for doing it. "Macy's probably doing it for Castiel's sake," Sienne said, and her explanation made sense.
