Burned Once, Never Again (Niamh and Castiel)

Chapter 58

Niamh shook her head and said, "He gave me three days to hand in the final design draft before the end of their working day on the 14th. But from what I see, we're not the only company who got this chance." "Of course, we're not," Quinn said. "You might not know this, but Linden Grove is crucial to Greenburg's gross domestic product. There's no way Leopardbite Intl. would put all their eggs into our basket."

Quinn did a full background check of Leopardbite Intl. before arriving in Greenburg. So, she analyzed and roughly estimated the jobs Leopardbite Intl. would entrust their company with.

Little did she know Leopardbite Intl. would give them the Linden Grove job.

"It seems we'll have our hands full these next few days," she concluded

"Yeah. Let's check out the scene before doing anything else," Niamh replied. No matter what, she needed to see the actual location first to inspire her designs.

Along the drive, Niamh's phone rang with a call from Renee. She didn't want to answer the call, so she declined it without a moment to spare.

It wasn't long before her phone rang with another call. This time, the call. was made from Jamison Manor's landline.

"You should answer it." Quinn quickly added, "With your current position, it's inconvenient for someone to hog your phone line."

Niamh froze, realizing she was no longer a housewife whose only focus was managing her home. She was now a businesswoman. She had already received four calls from her two clients to remind her about certain details after their meeting yesterday. With that in mind, she answered the call. "Hello, Madam Jamison."

"Madam Jamison?" Renee clearly wasn't used to hearing NiamhBelonging to NôvelDrama.Org.

addressing her with that new title. "You and Castiel aren't officially

divorced. Yet, you're already in a rush to cut ties with the Jamison family, huh? It seems you must like that man who's old enough to be your dad!"

Niamh's gaze turned stormy. Even her tone took on a harsher, snappier edge. "That has nothing to do with the Jamison family. Isn't this what you guys wanted? Why are you putting on an innocent act now?"

"Even if you guys are divorcing, it's only because my son doesn't want you anymore. Niamh, you have no right-"

"Regardless of whether I have the right to, I'm still the one who brought up the divorce first," Niamh rebuked. "If you're dissatisfied with that, Madam Jamison, how about I retract my litigation and you get your son to bring up a divorce instead? I promise to sign the divorce papers without causing any fuss."

"Are you implying that my son's latching onto and badgering you?"

"Yes."

"Why, you-" Renee's breathing grew heavier on the other end of the call.

Niamh could tell she was deeply angered. However, Renee's emotions and health were no longer her concerns.

It seemed that to be in love with someone meant tolerating everyone in the other person's world. If one were no longer in love with one's partner, their partner's world would no longer matter.

Niamh didn't know that before. That said, she now understood it well because Castiel and his world meant nothing to her.

She had moved on entirely. Even her attitude toward those around Castiel, who deliberately caused trouble for her, had toughened. She made it so that those people were too in shock to react.

"Y-You'd better drop by Jamison Manor this instant!" Renee's tone hardened as she ordered Niamh around now that she was angry.

"Whatever you have to say can be discussed on the phone."

"The conversation won't be as clear on the phone. Don't come back if you

wish to see me on the news, lying dead because you angered me!"

Upon hearing that, Niamh didn't bother thinking twice before hanging up.

Was Renee insane? How could she use her life to threaten Niam? She had to be because how else could she think of such a thing?

That trick evidently didn't work on Niamh. "Quinn."

"Yes?"

"I need you to help me tip off the news reporters about my current work situation." Niamh wanted the world to know how she was doing now. She knew very clearly that she and Castiel were being watched at all times.
