Whispers Turn to Whimpers: Could He Ever Change?

Chapter 770

Without a second thought, he walked away without looking back.

"Does time really heal all wounds?" Gilbert's voice was tinged with bittersweet emotion as he watched her retreating figure, murmuring, "But you didn't tell me, how long do I need to wait?"

A month? A year? Or even four years...

Had she really forgotten him over four years?

Stepping out of Cozyroom, Jenna's little belly was full and round.

Galen scooped her up, "Did Jenna eat enough?"

"I'm full."

"Still worried about her?" Sherilyn couldn't help but laugh, "She ate more meat than I did."

"Meat's good for you." Galen doted on his niece unconditionally, "You need to eat well to stay healthy!"

That way, she'd be stronger during her surgery.

"Here."

Concerned that the little one might have trouble digesting, Galen fetched a packet of hawthorn tablets from the car, "Jenna, take a couple."

To prevent indigestion, which could be bad for her health.

"Uncle is the best!" Jenna took them with both hands, "I love Uncle the most!"

Sherilyn shook her head with a smile, thinking he spoiled the child, yet he was indeed attentive.

Arriving at Sunset Ridge Community, a BMW Mini was parked beneath the apartment building.

"Whose new ride is this?" Sophia wondered aloud.

"Sis." Galen winked at Sherilyn, "It's mine. What do you think?"

"New purchase?"

Sherilyn noticed it was brand new, the license plate not yet attached.

"Yeah." Galen nodded, "Just got it today. Do you like it?"

"It's nice."

Sherilyn nodded, giving him a look, "Isn't it a bit small for you, though?"

Such cars were usually more suited for women.

Also, why was it parked under her building?

"I was thinking the same..." Galen lifted his arm, tossing something to her, "Catch, sis!"

"What's this?"

Sherilyn instinctively caught it, only to see it was a set of car keys.

Holding the keys, she pointed at the BMW, "This car?"

"Yeah." Galen nodded slightly, "For you. I bought it for you."

"This..." Sherilyn was astonished, momentarily lost for words.

"Don't say you don't want it!"Copyright Nôv/el/Dra/ma.Org.

Galen feared rejection, his gaze darkening, "Come on, sis... just take it. Isn't what's ours, yours? Why be modest?"

Hearing him say that, Sherilyn couldn't help but laugh.

Though he was right, such words seemed more fitting coming from her, considering the Martin family's other three members. Sherilyn was moved by Galen's purity amidst

She clasped the car keys tightly in her hand, no longer resisting. "Alright, I'll accept it."

"That's more like it." Galen's smile brightened, "Sis, from now on, brother will take care of

Tears welled up in Sherilyn's eyes, "Yeah, I'll hold you to that."

Years later, Sherilyn would still be moved by Galen's sincerity whenever she remembered this moment.

Watching him down one glass after another, Derek and Yates exchanged worried glances.

"Aren't we going to stop him?"

"How do you stop someone with a broken heart?"

"True. Only Cupid can fix this."

All they could do was keep him company to the bitter end.

When it was time to leave, Yates took it upon himself to get Gilbert back to Golden Oak Manor. Surprisingly, the lights were on in the living room. Yates guessed it might be the housekeeper? After ringing the doorbell and hauling Gilbert inside, he remarked, "Man, you're heavy!" "You're back?" Caroline wheeled herself over to greet them.
