Chapter 767
Gilbert vaguely recalled that an elderly couple used to live next door. Had they moved away?
He didn't dwell on it as Charles arrived, bringing good news.
"Mr. Gilbert, there's an update on the funding."
Gilbert raised an eyebrow, his expression unreadable. When he was still at Johnson Group, his energy was stretched thin, and his own ventures were more like side projects. Now, things were different. He had plenty of time to expand his operations.
But he was still working solo, without any significant backing, so seeking external support was crucial. He could have waited, slowly building up, but now, especially because of Naylor, finding a partner could significantly speed up the process.
He hadn't expected to hear back so soon after sending out feelers.
"That was quick."
"Indeed," Charles smiled. "It's all thanks to your reputation in the industry, Mr. Gilbert. Your capabilities are well recognized."
"Alright, enough." Gilbert chuckled, waving his hand dismissively. "Let me see the details of this potential partner."
"Here you go."
Gilbert took the documents and scrutinized them. "Not bad. Set up a meeting. It's better to discuss this in person."
"Will do."
This week marked the official wrap-up of Sherilyn's scenes in the movie. Although she wasn't the lead, Caleb had taken notice of her, and thanks to her connection with Gilbert (the public was still unaware of their breakup), the production team organized a small wrap-up celebration for her. The crew had lunch together and even ordered a cake, with Caleb personally presenting her with flowers.
"Sherilyn, here's to your skyrocketing fame and a bright future ahead!"
"Thank you."
Sherilyn smiled and thanked him, not taking the well-wishes too seriously.
As she was leaving, Karol walked her out. Karol, playing a significant supporting role, still had substantial scenes left to shoot.
"Ah..." Karol sighed, linking her arm with Sherilyn's. "I'm going to miss you."
At the door, she looked around. "Huh? Isn't Mr. Johnson coming to pick you up on such a special day?"
Sherilyn paused, then shook her head. "No, he's not coming."
"Oh..."
།
Karol pouted in disappointment. "I was hoping to see Mr. Johnson. It's been a while since he last visited the set. But, you get to see him every evening, right?"
Sherilyn ignored the question. She could tell Karol was trying to get close to Gilbert through her, but Karol was bound to be disappointed.
"You should head back in. Isn't your scene quite demanding today?"
Without explaining her situation, Sherilyn didn't feel the need to share her personal life with Karol, as they weren't that close.
"No need to walk me out. I'll just take a cab."
"Alright then." Karol let go and waved before turning back.
Sherilyn was just about to breathe a sigh of relief when her phone rang. It was Galen. He had planned a celebration for her wrap-up,
reserving a table at Cozyroom.
She glanced at the phone, decided not to answer, and looked up to see Galen's car parked across the street.
Galen got out of the car, smiling and waving. "Sis!"
"Here I am!"
Sherilyn nodded and jogged over.
Galen opened the car door for her. "Sophia and Jenna are already there. There's a playground with lots of kids, and Jenna loves it. Perfect for burning off some energy before dinner."
"Right." Sherilyn smiled and nodded. "You've thought of everything."
"Of course!" Galen grinned, showing his teeth, and they drove off to Cozyroom.
Cozyroom was located on the 9th floor of the Platinum Pearl Club, accessible by elevator.
