Levi lay on the hospital bed, his face pale, seemingly in an endless sleep.
Every day, nurses would come to check on his condition and record the slight changes in his vital signs.
Though his body was still there, his soul seemed to have drifted to another world.
Then one day, I saw Levi, like me, his soul separated from his body, floating in the air. I was stunned.
When he saw me, his eyes lit up, and he floated over like a madman, trying to hug me.
How could we, both in spirit form, embrace each other?
“Isla, please don’t leave,” his voice was filled with endless pleading and pain.
I looked at him, feeling a mix of emotions.
The past resentment and anger had gradually faded with time.
I smiled at him and said, “I hated you, but I don’t anymore.”
Hearing my words, a glimmer of hope flashed in Levi’s eyes. He thought I had forgiven him.
I continued, “But I won’t forgive you either. Go back! I don’t want to be with you even after death.”
He instantly slumped, as if he had lost all his strength.
He looked at me, then silently floated back to his body.
The heart monitor suddenly beeped, and nurses and doctors rushed in.
Seeing Levi awake, they showed expressions of surprise and joy.
I felt the restraints on me suddenly disappear, and I could finally leave this place.
After waking up, Levi stared blankly out the window.
He knew he didn’t deserve to die yet. He still needed to face and uncover that huge conspiracy. He needed to seek justice for me and the real Ella and bring those behind it to justice. As for me, I lied once more. I wanted him to live well.
