Chapter 8 Speaking for Her
Whispers went all through the crowd, until someone cried out. “Wait… Isn’t that the famous dancer
Cora!?”
“Oh my God, it’s her! Master Cora!”
“Cora has been retired for three years! She’s finally returned to the stage?”
Then the male lead also took off his mask, revealing a handsome face. All text © NôvelD(r)a'ma.Org.
The audience fell silent instantly, followed by a burst of applause. They thought the previous scene was
not a mistake, but a cleverly designed plot.
Elijah clenched his fist tightly, his eyes fixed on Brian’s hand, wrapped tight around Cordelia’s waist.
Eva meanwhile glared at Cordelia with pure hatred. Panic flashed through her as she looked at
everyone’s entranced faces, including Elijah…
She tugged at his sleeve and whispered, ” Elijah, I just got really dizzy all of a sudden. Let’s leave.”
But he didn’t answer, never looking away from the stage. It was like he didn’t hear her at all.
Eva bit her lip and suddenly clutched her shoulder. “Ow! It hurts! Elijah, please take me to the car and
help me!”
The ballet ended with a magnificent finale of Cordelia falling delicately into Brian’s arms, and applause
echoed through the theater.
During the curtain call, he excitedly hugged Cordelia tightly and whispered, “You were amazing, Cora!
You’re the princess of ballet!”
Cordelia politely returned his embrace. It was high praise from such an extraordinary dancer as him.
“Thank you.”
She looked towards the VIP seals.
The seats that belonged to Elijah and Eva were now empty.
Before anyone noticed, she looked away, feigning indifference.
In the backstage corridor, the accompanying dancers were talking excitedly about the show.
“No wonder Imogen brought her to help! She’s as amazing as all the rumors say. She was our savior!”
“And did you notice how much chemistry she and Brian had? They look like a perfect couple.”
“Brian may have mentioned he’s interested in her. But don’t tell anyone I said that!”
Cordelia ignored the discussions and walked straight towards her changing room, without noticing
someone followed closely behind.
and locked the door.
A familiar scent instantly surrounded her.
“Elija-!”
He wrapped his arm around her waist possessively, and his other hand flew to cover her mouth,
smearing her lipstick.
“Quite a performance, Cordelia… But it looks like you forgot who you’re married to.”
She shoved his hand away, and he swiftly captured her lips to cut off her protests, kissing her fiercely,
overwhelming her
senses.
There was anger in this kiss, more like revenge than love or desire. She bit his lip, but he only groaned,
his blood spilling into her mouth.
He easily lifted her up and pressed her against the nearest wall. Then he finally pulled his lips away,
leaning his forehead on hers.
“So… Master Cora?”
Cordelia frowned, and he took her silence as his cue to continue.
“That man… The male lead… Is he interested in you?”
As he spoke, his hands trailed over her body.
“Elijah, wait! We’re just backstage! People could hear!” she warned. But it wasn’t concern in her soft,
coquettish voice. It
