Chapter 44 Who is torturing who (1)
Sophia was as weak as smoke as if just blinking could disperse her. He remembered that before he
left, she had gone to the office to see him, her face looked better with good spirits.
How many days had it been? Just three days.
To think that Sophia was still pleading for her and she still said that she didn’t hurt Sophia?
He shook his head heartlessly and ruthlessly and shattered Mia’s heart. Though this was within her
expectations when it happened, she just resigned to it helplessly. His look was as good as using a knife
to pierce her heart and it hurt to the bones.
His hand tightened around the collar and William pursed his lips tightly. His glare was as if he wanted to
swallow her as he emphasized every word, “If it isn’t for the urgency of Sophia’s bone marrow
transplant, what you did today, you will die!”
With a push, she fell to the ground. Her back was cut by countless glass shards but the pain was in her
heart. The air flows in like countless fine needles prickling right into her lungs. The pain was
penetrating to the bones. With big strides, he left without taking a look at her and slammed the door
shut. The room was pitch dark.
“Boss, Professor Davies is looking for you.”
“How’s Missus?”
“She is sleeping after taking the medicine.”
“She’s a light sleeper, close the windows, don’t alarm her.”
“Yes Sir.”
“Adjust the air conditioner to twenty-seven degrees and set the time.”
“Yes Sir.”
“And…”
The footsteps became further and further, his voice was full of concern for her. William’s concern for
Sophia was meticulous.
Mia mustered her strength to stand up and turned on the lights. The room was in a mess with all the
broken glass. This room wasn’t well equipped and with the glass panel broken, it looked empty and
frightening.
She attended to the wounds on her body and climbed onto the bed, she ignored the shattered glass
and slowly closed her eyes.
Mia opened her eyes as dawn breaks and the light shone into the room. The light reflected from the
broken glass like countless sarcastic eyes reminding her of what happened yesterday and also the
ruthlessness of the world.
Her life had already been turned upside down by William and destroyed. At twenty-two years old, that’s
the time a woman dream about being loved but she had to endure the violence of a cold-blooded and
ruthless man. The flower had withered before it could bloom. Two drops of tears flowed across the fair
and haggard face, radiating unparalleled sorrows and misery!
She curled up tightly like an animal waiting to be protected. She was so fragile that she could
disintegrate at any moment.
Outside the room, chatting and laughing could clearly be heard. Her stiff body started to twitch and her
expression turned to horror! William’s voice! She was terrified whenever she heard his voice!
The corridor quietened down and she didn't feel safe. She anxiously got out of bed and stumbled to a
safe corner. Like a fly darting around, ignoring that her naked feet being cut by the shards of glass!
The voice was just outside, will he come in?
She quickly turned and clung next to the window. It was her only means of escape. If he comes in, she
will jump out. The terrified look turned and looked down from the window. It was a cement ground and it
was the second floor. She will be severely injured if not dead if she was to jump.
And so what? Her hands trembled violently as she held onto the window frame and a few of her nails
broke silently. Outside the window, someone blared the horn as a greeting and she looked towards the
car park. James’s image drifted into her eyes unexpectedly like a ray of sunshine and finally warmed
her ice-cold soul.
Before he got in the car he looked in her direction as if he had seen her.
“If you can’t figure it out, don’t be too hard on yourself. It’s not easy to be alive. Learning how to talk
and walk took several years. Why can’t you use your desire for suicide to do something worthwhile?”
This was what he had said before! She just remembered these words and they were like a wind that
blew open her heart and breathed life into it.
Yes, it’s not easy to be alive and she must continue to live!
He was long gone and nowhere to be seen. She looked and saw several iron bars across the window
and was immediately thankful, had there not been these iron bars, she might have already jumped
down.
Not long after, Rebecca brought a few servants out and like treating an Emperor, bent forward forty-five
degrees. William’s black image appeared and walked out in long strides.
She quickly looked away and hid. She grabbed the curtains and wished that she could disappear! The
terror he brought far exceeded her ability to endure it. She was trembling all over and break out in cold
sweat. She was terrified even if he couldn’t see her.
Once the sound of the engine passed, her world was quiet again. Had William left?
It took a long time before her pale face dared to look outside. The Maserati was gone and the car park
was empty. Rebecca led the servants back. William had finally left.
She sighed a breath of relief, sat back at the bed, and realized that her legs were trembling violently.
Knock knock. Mia jumped up in fear. Her heart raced until she heard Rebecca’s voice before she NôvelDrama.Org holds text © rights.
walked to the door.
She was like the anxiety of a rat on the street. She opened the door with a bitter smile.
Rebecca looked at her with her usual emotionless and condescending eyes. She composed herself
and then said, “It’s time for you to tidy yourself and go take care of Missus.”
“Ah?” Mia thought that she was mistaken and looked surprised in return. William still wanted her to look
after Sophia? Isn’t he angry that she harmed Sophia?
Her eyes were full of doubt and bit her lips in hesitation and asked, “Rebecca, whose… whose idea is
this?”
Rebecca’s gaze was like from hell and Mia saw William’s viciousness in her. She retracted and didn’t
dare to ask anymore. After a while, Rebecca unexpectedly said, “It was Missus’s idea, Boss agreed.”
Her idea? What was Sophia up to? Does she want to punish her to death?
Except that, did she have any ability to reject? William used her friend’s life to force her to remain here.
She didn’t even have the chance to escape.
“Clean up yourself immediately, don’t let Missus wait for too long!”
Rebecca turned, Mia looked at her abdomen in despair. Once she went up it would be another day of
starvation. She can endure the mistreatment but she had a child inside! She took a deep breath and
mustered up some courage and asked, “Rebecca…” Rebecca stopped but didn’t look back, Mia
swallowed some saliva. This was her last chance and she quickly said, “Can I have something to eat?”
The head turned slightly but it wasn’t clear how she felt. Mia thought that she would object but then she
unexpectedly heard, “Go to the kitchen.” As she heard her footsteps walking away, Mia no longer felt
cold but began to feel warm inside.
She quickly washed up and went to the Kitchen. She saw a large table which was for the servants and
there were porridge and fritters. She sat down and ate.
Although there wasn’t much nutrition, at least her child won’t be hungry. She’ll also have some energy.
Her appetite wasn’t good but she forced herself to eat some.
A servant sat beside her for breakfast and looked surprised and said softly, “You’re really capable to
dare to become Missus’s private nurse.”
Mia tilted her head and looked confused.
The servant continues secretly, “Don’t you know, Missus can’t find a private nurse who is willing to work
for her. On one dares to serve her.”
Can’t find it? Isn’t she the one who doesn’t want?
Seeing Mia’s confused expression, the servant whispered into her ear with a hand covering, “too
demanding.”
Mia agreed and nodded and the servant sighed, “Last time I served her for a period of time, she kicked
up a big fuss and almost caused my death. Boss loved her so he believed everything she said…”
A person’s clearing of the throat stopped her. Rebecca was sullen and standing at the door. The
servant stood up uneasily. Rebecca walked in and looked at Mia and then to the servant, “You’re fired!”
“Ma’am, I won’t do it again! I beg you. I still have a grandson to take care of. My son is crippled…” The
servant begged anxiously and repeatedly slapped herself. Rebecca didn’t even look at her and said
coldly, “The Bask Residence doesn’t need a loud-mouthed servant.” She called the security guard to
come and pull her out.
She looked helplessly as the servant was dragged out. She had never been a servant but she knew
that they shouldn’t talk too much. Mia didn’t dare to speak up for the servant but she felt bad and rand
to give her telephone number to her, “This… call me if you have any difficulties.”
Rebecca was surprised and Mia lowed her head and walked back. She thought that Rebecca would
mock her for trying to help someone else when she can’t even help herself. But Rebecca didn’t say
anything but glared at her.
“It’s time to go up, Missus is asking for you.” She said emotionlessly, turned, and walked to the door.
She stopped at the door and said without looking back, “Be more careful if you don’t want to suffer.”
“Thanks.” Her heart warmed and sincerely thanked Rebecca. Rebecca didn’t seem to hear and walked
out with her footsteps sounding.
Looking at her back, she recalled her treatment towards her over these few days. Mia was full of
gratitude. Although she appeared cold and unapproachable, she was a good person.
Although she was unwilling to, she still went upstairs. She wanted to have a good chat with Sophia.
When she opened the door, she saw Sophia sitting on the bed, she had a drawing board and looked
towards the window and drew.
Mia walked over softly and sat on the sofa and waited. She had the time. She was beautiful. Her curly
hair was over her shoulders and shining like silk. Her slender willow eyebrows, long curled eyelashes,
clean eyelids, her small nose, and pink lips. It was easy to see that she was a kind lady of the elite
class.
At this moment she was quiet and proper, like a princess out of the fairy tales. A princess who was pure
and harmless, delicate, and adorable.
It seemed like Sophia didn’t notice her and continued to draw, she drew for a long time. Suddenly she
coughed.
“Rest awhile.” Mia poured a glass of water and brought it to her, Mia said sincerely, “You haven’t
recovered, don’t tire yourself.”
Smash!
Sophia didn’t look and flipped the glass and hot water splashed onto her hand painfully. Before she
could say anything, she smirked sarcastically, “You must have not expected that you’ll be up here! I told
you before that William loves me and will listen to whatever I say. This is love, do you understand?”
She nodded truthfully. From what the servant said, from her own eyes, she absolutely believed that
Sophia was speaking the truth.
“That’s why I will continue to torture you.” The voice was straight out of hell. Mia was suddenly dazed.
She lifted her head and looked at her. She was clearly beautiful but how came she was so evil to
others?
