Passion 44
At the same time, Archibald called Tristan and shouted, "How dare you? Are you going to live alone for the rest of your life? Who gave you the guts to stand up your blind date?"
Tristan was somewhat helpless. "Grandpa, I'm busy now."
"Busy? You think I'm an idiot? You're out there every day with those useless friends of yours." Archibald was losing his patience. "You come back right now, or else face the consequences!"
Tristan had no choice but to return.
When Yvette arrived at Titan Corporation, she went straight to the top floor.
Mark saw her coming. She was dressed smartly yet charmingly; he couldn't help but take a second look. He remembered how Yvette used to dress plainly and had never stood out as the daughter of a wealthy family.
But now, she not only looked dazzling but also exuded an air of nobility and charm, as if she were a different person.
"Ms. Snyder, do you need something?" Mark asked.
"I want to see Mr. Lane," Yvette said coldly.
Upon hearing this, Mark became indifferent. "Mr. Lane is busy today. He may not have time to see you." Mark was still the same. He had never liked her, so he wouldn't take her to see Xavier. Yvette had been turned down too many times before; she was already used to it.
She had inquired about Xavier's schedule beforehand, so she knew that he had no important meetings planned.
"Oh, is that so? Then, please tell Mr. Lane that our collaboration ends here."
With that, Yvette left.
Mark's attitude immediately took a drastic turn. "Ms. Snyder, please wait. I'll check with Mr. Lane."
He suppressed his arrogance and led her to Xavier's office.
When they passed by the secretary's office, several secretaries who had worked there since Yvette's supposed death were astonished to see her.
They couldn't help but wonder if she hadn't died four years ago?
The woman before them was elegantly dressed and exuded confidence; she was nothing like the modest Yvette they remembered.
Yvette entered Xavier's office under their strange gazes.
In the office, Xavier stood by the window. He was wearing a tailored-suit, showcasing his tall figure.
"Mr. Lane." Mark knocked on the door, then tactfully left, closing the door behind him.
Xavier turned around to face Yvette as she stood by the door. She was wearing a suit and looked more sophisticated than before. However, he could only remember that night when she had held a glass of wine while her eyes had been filled with seductive charm. Yvette felt a little uncomfortable under his intense gaze.
"Mr. Lane, I'm not sure why you had your secretary bring me here. Is there something you need?"
Xavier's gaze carried a hint of amusement. "Come here."
Yvette hesitated for a moment before walking toward him. She stopped three feet away and caught a faint scent of cigarettes on him. She remembered that Xavier disliked smoking.
Even though he had occasionally smoked at work, he had never let his clothes get stained with the scent because of his mysophobia. Sure enough, people were bound to change.
Xavier slowly approached her. "You say you have amnesia? Aren't you curious about what happened between us?"
Yvette looked at him. "What's in the past is in the past. I only want to focus on the present and the future."
Xavier moved closer, step by step, until Yvette was backed against the wall.
