Warrior 147
Chapter 147 RYN
Now everything makes sense.
When they said I was cursed to be alone; it wasn't because I wouldn't find my mate.
It was because I'd find them and they'd slip from hands like sand in the wind.
I staggered out of the hospital building, with the blood of the Healer on my hands and a strange sense of bond between me and the King.
In order to save the Healer's life, I had to make the oath, and the King had gleefully dug his claws into my wrists, making my words a blood oath,
Once we were done, he had cut a piece of his arm and sprinkled his blood on the healer's open wound. Within minutes, the neck wound healed and the poor, elderly man wheezed and coughed, looking at the King with the utmost disdain.
Afterward, the King spoke about coming to his office to pick up a check, but I wasn't listening. Instead, I looked at my mates with one last longing glance before grabbing my bag and leaving the room.
As I stepped off the road, a strange itch began to creep along my spine, sharp and insistent. My feet seemed to have a will of their own as they pulled me toward the shadowy woods. My legs trembled as I pushed deeper, my body feeling drained, like every ounce of energy was being stolen away.
The itch spread across my back, burning like fire beneath my skin, and when I reached to scratch it, a sharp jolt of pain made me scream. My bones... they were shifting. Twisting.
I heard a rip and realized my clothes were tearing. Before I could panic, another wrenching pain shot through my spine, forcing a cry from my lips.
What's happening to me?!
A sharp snap rang through the air, and my knees buckled as my leg bones cracked and shifted. Tears spilled down my face as
I clawed at the ground. Then I saw it-red fur sprouting along my trembling hands.
What the hell? Am I... shifting?
The answer came as my left arm wrenched backward, yanked by an invisible force. My breath caught in stunned to scream.
Please, make it stop!
my
throat. I was too
The agony was unrelenting, ripping through me like wildfire. My chest seemed to collapse inward, then split apart as H vomited everything I'd eaten. Gasping for air, bcrawled to a tree only for my legs to twist and fracture beneath me, leaving me crumpled in the dirt. Time lost all meaning as the torment dragged on. Every bone shattered, mended, and reshaped, and I felt every second of it. Memories of the cruel words, the stares, the isolation-all the pain I'd carried for so long-rushed to the surface, blending with this fresh agony. When the pain finally stopped, I was no longer myself.
Istood shakily on legs that didn't feel human, the forest spinning around me. Then a sound tore from my throat, primal and wild. A howl-no, a roar-that echoed into the early morning sky. It wasn't my voice. It was something else entirely. Something savage.

I looked down at my hands and they were no longer human, instead they resembled that of mutants - long, needle-like and sharp.
Gods! No! Please, don't let me be a mutant!
I noticed my fur was blood red in color, which was significantly different from mutants who were always black, so did that mean I was different?
As I pondered on what I was, my ears picked up on the sound of water in the far distance, which made me assume that there was a lake nearby. The urge to run there suddenly came over me and I gave in, discovering a speed that was four times faster than my usual spe As I ran, I felt freer than I have ever been in my life. It felt like that last piece of puzzle finally clicking in, making things right.
Gods! This felt so good I could cry.
Eventually, I came upon the lake, its surface still as glass under the pale light of dawn and after priming my senses to make sure no one was around, I tentatively went to the body of water to see my reflection.
At first, I was skeptical and afraid of what I might see, but then I gained the courage to look. If I am a mutant, then there's no way Theon and Miro would ever look past that and fall in love with me. If I am not, then maybe we have a chance?
I leaned forward and peered into my reflection, and what I see is not short of...fascinating.
First of all, I didn't look deformed. I looked like a normal Lycan.
It's just that my fur looked like fresh-spilled blood, darkened at the edges as if scorched.

burned back at me - fierce and untamed - filled with a hunger that made my heart pound in my chest. My sharp fangs gleamed dangerously, and every inch of my massive frame radiated raw power and terror.
I stepped back, trembling, my body frozen between flight and fascination.
For the first time, I saw myself not just as something to fear, but as something unstoppable. And yet, a part of me couldn't help but recoil, horrified by the darkness staring back.
Everything else that happened after was a blur.
I remember my wolf taking control, running and stretching her limbs. Then, the next thing I knew, I was waking up beside the lake, completely exhausted. I blinked my eyes open, stretched and yawned and when I saw sunlight illuminating the entire area, I panicked. I got

my back to my knees and noticed my hands were back to normal and so was my entire naked body.
I stood up, looking around with wide eyes, while covering my private parts with my arms.
How did I get here? Will I be able to make it back to where my things are?
I took a deep breath to calm my nerves.
"You've got this, Ryn." I said to myself. Then I let my wolf's senses trace its way
back.
After what seemed like a forever of internal panicking, I finally saw my things in the distance and a deer curiously sniffing some of my clothes.
"Hey!" I yelled, running towards it and it immediately ran for the woods.

I reached for my clothes, and to my horror, I found them shredded. I remembered hearing them rip when I shifted, and now I have nothing to wear. "Nononononono!" I groaned as I went through my backpack, dreading the inevitable.
I didn't bring any spare clothes.
i
"Fuck!" I yelled, then looked around in fright, in case I just called attention to myself. After listening and making sure no one heard me, I thought of what to do. Aha! I can call Sadie to bring spares for me.
But where the fuck is my phone? I realized I didn't bring it out of my back pocket when I shifted.
"Oh Gods, no!" I groaned again as I searched the ground for my phone.
Luckily for me, I didn't have to look very far.
I found it face down on the ground, where
my
clothes were strewn.
My heart soared with joy as I cleaned the dirt from its face and turned it on.
To my joy, my phone came on, but then I realized I had a low battery.
Of course! Everything had to go wrong in this fucking moment!
quickly dialled Sadie's line.
"Where have you been?!" Sadie yelled into the phone.
"Sorry. I took a walk into the woods and the craziest thing happened-"
"You took a walk? In the woods? Alone?" Sadie queried, and I went silent. "You know it's not safe for you to walk around in those woods. Especially with those stupid mutants that I hate roaming around
"Sadie-"
"I just hate those creatures with passion." She said with fervor. "Anything that differs from a Lycan or a werewolf, I hate it at this point and want nothing to do with it. in fact, I wish I had a gun, cause i'd kill it on sight. That's how much I hate abominable things."
I was stunned into silence. I didn't know Sadie felt this strongly about different creatures.
"Sorry for my outburst." Her voice softened. "I thought I was going to lose Uncle Theon. Please come meet me at the hospital. I want you to be safe, okay?" "But you meant every word, right? About abominable things." I asked, holding my breath.Content rights belong to NôvelDrama.Org.
"Yes. Yes, do." Sadie replied. "I
I
believe any other creature that looks
like a wolf but is not a Lycan or
werewolf should be put down immediately. They are a menace to
society and a threat."
I opened my mouth to speak, but then my phone beeped, warning me about my low battery.
"I'll call you back." I said, and sat on the ground, dejected.
Sadie cannot find out about what I am.
I don't even know what it is yet, but I am very sure she might hate me before I even have a chance to figure it out.
16:59 Sat, Nov 30 BB.
I held my head in my hands as a sad truth dawned on me.
Once again, I am alone in this world.
Once again... I'm back to square one.
