The Billionaire's Regret

Chapter 211

Chapter 211

As soon as Avery Lamour walked through the door, she could tell something was wrong. She noticed Joy Lamour’s car parked in the courtyard and assumed she had returned. Joy would usually make a big deal about her arrival because she wanted everyone to know she was home. It had never been quieter when Joy was present. This silence made Avery even more concerned. A glass ashtray was thrown at her as soon as she pushed the door open. She was stunned and experienced a sharp pain in her shoulder. She clenched her teeth as cold sweat dripped from her brow. When she looked up and saw the two people sitting on the sofa, her face turned pale. Joy and Gil Lamour were both looking at her with cold and grim expressions. “You still dare to return?! I told you to approach Wyatt Reed, but you came back here, not to mention the huge mess you’ve made!” Joy became enraged and hurled insults at Avery. She had been holding her rage inside while waiting for Avery to return. She was unforgiving. “Haven’t you always wanted to climb the social ladder? Do you lack the ability to keep a man? Have you learned nothing from your mother’s home-wrecking?” Joy appeared to outsiders to be a gentle and elegant high-society lady. Joy’s mean and harsh side was only seen by Avery, her half-sister. Avery stiffened in place, staring dumbfounded at Joy and Gil. Since she was a child, her biological and nominal father had treated her as a disgrace. Gil always gave in to Joy’s bullying. Avery bowed her head and bit her lower lip, not daring to say anything. Her heart was racing as panic gripped her limbs. ‘Did they find out so quickly that I was thrown out? How much do they really know?’ Joy was enraged even more when Avery remained silent. She moved forward a few steps and yanked Avery’s hair with brute force. “Speak! Are you deaf? How dare you return with the shambles you’ve created?! You’re nothing more than a shameless illegitimate daughter. What is the point of your existence?” Copyright Nôv/el/Dra/ma.Org.

Avery felt her surroundings spin in an instant as Joy shoved her to the floor. It was excruciatingly painful. She tried to beg her father, Gil Lamour, for help, but he only had a cold face and looked at her with disgust and disappointment. Gil directed his finger at Avery. “Your sister is correct. What is the point of having you as a member of our family? You can’t even do something so simple. I’ve taken care of everything. You need to contact the Reeds. You can marry Wyatt Reed as long as you can make him happy, but you can’t even do that?” Avery could only feel pain and coldness enveloping her. She had a flashback to that night. He was unmoved even after going so far as to be almost naked in front of Wyatt. That gaze was identical to Gil’s at this moment. Avery wept and pleaded for mercy. She’d grown accustomed to the harassment. There was no other option because she’d be forced to return to those hopeless and worthless days of her past if she didn’t put up with it. She had a taste of the good life that she couldn’t shake. Rather than returning to a time when she was looked down on by everyone, she would prefer to act humble in front of these two people. She clenched her teeth and pleaded in hushed tones for them to let her go. “Wyatt Reed dislikes me. I can’t help myself. I’ve tried everything I can think of, but he still won’t look at me.” Joy sneered and laughed exasperatedly. “It’s understandable if you can’t handle Wyatt Reed, but why did you feel the need to offend Ivy Morgan?” Her tone was cold and filled with hatred. Avery came to a halt and raised her head. “Are you still acting? Morgan Corporation has taken on our major project, which has been in the works for over a year! Ivy clearly stated that she only took this away from us to teach you how to behave properly!” Joy Lamour scolded Avery Lamour with a glum expression. She finally had enough and went up to slap Avery.

“It’s entirely your fault!” What exactly did you do to enrage Ivy? The high society ladies are now mocking me for having such a useless sister as you!” To begin with, the elite circle was small. Lamour Corporation was only significant in the United States, and it was not on the same level as the internationally renowned Morgan Corporation. As a result, Joy’s circle differed from Ivy’s. Ivy’s circle was made up of the ultimate elites at the top of the food chain, and she could only look up to her. The slap had made Avery’s face hot and painful. All she could think about was panic and shame. Ivy, it turned out, was not unaware of what Avery had done to her. Ivy bypassed Avery entirely and went straight to Lamour Corporation. The Lamours were to accept responsibility for Avery’s mistakes. This was a clear warning to Avery to help her understand the chasm that existed between her and Ivy. Ivy couldn’t even retaliate with a small move against Avery and the Lamour family. Ivy was extremely harsh. Looking at Avery’s wretched face reminded Joy of Avery’s mother’s pitiful expression when she had broken up her family. Joy became even angrier as a result of this. Joy stomped on Avery and looked down at her. “Tell me exactly what you did.” Avery was forced to tell her the truth. Morgan Corporation. Ivy was in her office, listening to a department report when Greg knocked. “Ms. Morgan.” Ivy nodded and looked at the department head. The man had the foresight to flee. “Chairman Lamour just called and asked Avery Lamour to apologize in person. In the meantime, they want to talk about the possibility of working together,” Greg explained. Ivy chuckled lightly. Wyatt introduced her to Gil Lamour, who was so snobbish about having Reed Corporation as a backer that he didn’t bother getting to know Ivy. Looking back, that scene was ridiculous and pathetic.

‘Why is Lamour Corporation so concerned when I only took away a minor project?’ They were too eager. Ivy’s eyes flitted a little. “Forget about cooperation.” Ivy’s meaning was immediately clear to Greg. “Yes, Ms. Morgan, but we must not underestimate their strength.” Ivy smiled and spoke casually. “The Lamour Corporation isn’t the only one in charge. Petron Corporation, their archrival, has contacted us. You can inform the Lamours of this.” Ivy was not concerned about offending anyone or losing the company. Gil Lamour was not sincere and had never treated her with respect by placing his daughter in Morgan Corporation without first informing her, indicating that Lamour Corporation had no intention of doing business with Morgan Corporation. Since that was the case, it was best to politely decline them rather than risk making a fool of themselves. Greg nodded immediately. “Understood.” Ivy grinned contentedly and looked down to see a message on her phone. Little Pierce had left a voice message. “Pretty Lady, I’d like to surprise you with a candlelight dinner!” Ivy couldn’t bear rejecting Pierce’s childish voice, which was as soft and sweet as cotton candy. “Okay!” She responded. She hadn’t seen Pierce in a long time, and she missed him. Ivy suspected Pierce liked Simba and immediately requested that Sebastian send Simba over for Pierce to play with. Sebastian reluctantly arrived at Morgan Corporation in sunglasses and a flashy sports car in less than 15 minutes. He drew everyone’s attention right away. Sebastian’s stunningly handsome face quickly became a hot topic. He proudly ruffled his hair when he saw his sister. “What can I do to improve my mediocrity? You should not pass up this free advertising opportunity for any new diamond jewelry that I can recommend.” Ivy rolled her eyes in silence. “Well, our new diamond jewelry is for innocent young people. If you

support them, we will undoubtedly lose money this quarter!” Sebastian’s brow furrowed.
