The Billionaire's Mistake (Anya and Daniel)

MISTAKE 203

Chapter 203: Grandma

“Why are you standing there so stiff, dear?” the old woman asked and Anya tried to find her

voice.

It was not the butler beside the old woman or the staff’s respectful demeanor that told her made her more self conscious, something about this old woman felt like she was staring at Daniel.

Instinct told her she may look like a nice old lady, but she could become really dangerous. But for some reason, Anya felt warmth when looking at her.

“I am just shocked to see you,” she answered and the old woman let out a smile and beckoned

to Anya to come closer and sit beside her. This is property © of NôvelDrama.Org.

Daniel must have woken up and found Anya gone from bed while injured, because he panicked and hurried down. When he came down, he got to see his grandmother asking Anya to take a seat while looking at her as though she was a goddess descended.

He sighed in relief and walked over.

“Grandma,” he greeted and the old woman waved him off as Anya sat and passed some tea to

Anya.

“Have some,” she said to Anya, “I just decided to come see you. Daniel is taking good care of you, right?” she said and Anya nodded. She looked up to find the old woman’s expectant eyes and finally spoke.

“Yes, Grandma,” she said and Amanda nodded and let out a satisfied laugh. The old lady really liked her calling her grandma.

“She is real,” she said to her grandson and Daniel looked away.

“Why wouldn’t she be?” Daniel asked.

“With your bad temper, I am shocked you are still married. Wendy even told me you had almost lost her. Of course I have to look at her well. Maybe it is a dream,” Amanda said.

“Why are you here?” he asked her.

“I came to deliver the documents from the main house,” she said, pointing to the document the butler was holding as she continued to refill Anya’s cup. Anya was not sure what kind of tea she was drinking. She just kept drinking regardless.

“Don’t you have somewhere to be?” he asked and Amanda threw his a dirty look.

“Even if you don’t, Anya has work,” he said and Anya nodded and stood up. She had been cooped home for a week now and finally convinced Daniel to let her out. She could not stay back.

She had been assigned to work with a media team at another company, Houston co. Her job was to observe and write a report on the latest project. She even got to join the advertising team for a better look. She did not want to miss this. This was different from her normal interviews. It was more engaging.

She had even tagged along her company’s team as a staff to have a better understanding of the project.

“I am sorry, I need to get ready,” Anya said, completely forgetting that she had come down to have breakfast.

“It’s alright dear,” Amanda assured her as Anya rushed back upstairs.

Anya arrived at the set, as though nothing had happened. She greeted her colleagues with a warm smile, determined to keep her focus on the task at hand. As she started moving around

the site, fulfilling her duties, she couldn’t help but notice Jasmine hovering nearby, a curious expression on her face.

“Good morning, Anya,” Jasmine said, her voice dripping with false sweetness. “I couldn’t help but notice how passionate you were about the project yesterday. It’s always refreshing to see

someone so committed to their work.”

Anya blinked, caught off guard by the unexpected compliment, what was this? Did this actress think she was a boss here? Anya thought. “Thank you, Jasmine. I’m simply doing my job to the best of my ability.”

Jasmine nodded, her gaze lingering on Anya for a moment longer than necessary. “Of course, of course. Say, I was wondering if you might have some time to grab a coffee with me later. I’d

love to pick your brain about the project and get to know you better.”

Anya hesitated, unsure of how to respond. What could they possibly discuss? Besides, the

entire office knew this actress did not like her.

Since she had joined this set, this actress has been very aggressive. Why was she suddenly nice?

“I appreciate the offer, Jasmine, but I’m afraid I’ll be quite busy with work today. Perhaps another time?”

Jasmine’s smile faltered slightly, but she quickly recovered. “Ah, well, no worries. I understand how important the project is. Maybe we can try another day?”

“We’ll see,” Anya replied, already turning her attention back to her tablet.

As Jasmine walked away, Anya couldn’t help but feel a slightly uneasy There was something about the actress‘ behavior that rubbed her the wrong way, but she couldn’t quite put her finger on it. Shaking off the feeling, Anya refocused on her work. She was not here to play mean girls with some random woman.

Jasmine sat in her luxury apartment, phone pressed to her ear as she spoke to her friend

Kelsey. “You’re never going to believe this, but I just booked a huge new advertising deal with the Houston Corporation!” she exclaimed excitedly.

“No way, that’s amazing!” Kelsey replied. “Who are you cast with? Who is on set with you, anyone I know?”

Jasmine paused for dramatic effect. “Well, funny you should ask… I saw your cousin, Anya.”

“Anya?” Kelsey scoffed. “What is she doing there? She had just come to the family diner with the Leslies and destroyed the dinner, even fought with Mrs Leslie, now the woman looks at me

odd.”

“It is funny” Jasmine said, “she did all that and is just a mere worker, does she think she can marry into the Leslie family like that? She even seemed pleasant when I met her.”

“Pleasant?” Kelsey spat. “Anya is anything but pleasant. She’s a scheming, manipulative liar. And now she’s trying to destroy my engagement!”

“I knew that face the moment I saw her. Don’t worry, she is just a small reporter. Every easy to deal with. With my influence on this project, it’ll be easy to get her fired.” Jasmine said with a hint of pride in her voice.

Kelsey paused slight, “Are you sure? Do not risk your career for nonsense. I have made my bed already. I am content as long as she leaves me alone. She is a tough nut to crack. But don’t say I didn’t warn you; she’ll stab you in the back the first chance she gets.”

“Ha, as if,” Jasmine scoffed. “I can handle a little staff. She’s no match for me. I call the shots

in this set.

“If

you say so,” Kelsey replied, a hint of amusement in her voice, “Anyway, I’d better go.”

“Alright, talk to you later,” Jasmine said before ending the call.

Kelsey tossed her phone aside wit slight mockery. She always knew this girl was easy to manipulate. Just that moment, she heard as scream that made her jump and head downstairs, where she found her uncle, Rodney Jackson, sitting on the floor in tears. She almost rolled her eyes. Her father was like a child sometimes.

Her mother’s sister, Sandra, was asking him what was wrong.

“Stop shouting, are you trying to kill this old woman?” her uncle’s mother Old Madam

Jackson said as she came out of her room.

Kelsey had been taken in by them when things went wrong in the Jones household, so that she can marry Andre without any issues.

“Everything’s gone! All the money, it’s all gone!” Rodney wailed.

“What are you talking about?” Sandra asked, her brow furrowed in concern.

“I put it all in that project, and now it’s gone! Bankrupt! We’re ruined!” Rodney cried, burying

his face in his hands.

Kelsey’s eyes widened as she realized the implication “Bankrupt? Does that mean we’re going to be poor?” Kelsey felt as though the pace heard that the world was collapsing. How could she be poor? This family was all the had ne
