Chapter 57
Chapter 57
“Stay out of women’s business.” Vidonia suggested, making a face as she ushered Letitia into the office.
Samson was speechless. Looks like he’s just a tool for them to get out of trouble, gets ditched as soon as the job’s done.
“Man, women are such a hassle.”
Inside the office.
‘Thanks, Vidonia, said Letitia. “After all these years, whenever there’s trouble, you’re still my frontline.”
“We’re best friends, aren’t we? But I need you to be straight with me, no secrets, okay? Letitia, friendship needs tending to as well.”
*Sure.”
Vidonia looked at her, “Even if Shela can’t stand you, it’s strange that she hates you to this extend Is there something else going on between you two?”
After a few seconds of silence, Letitia spilled the beans about that night
“I don’t know who the man is, but I’m carrying his child. Shela and the dean both know, but they won’t tell me… She told me to get rid of the baby” Belongs to (N)ôvel/Drama.Org.
“No wonder..” Vidonia’s jaw dropped, “So you’re, you’re pregnant now?”
“Yes.”
“No wonder she. I mean, get rid of it? You don’t even know who the baby daddy is!”
Letitia looked down, murmuring. “I believe he’ll come for me.”
“Letitia, don’t be silly. Some guy you don’t recognize and know nothing about ain’t worth it”
“That night, though I saved him, you could also say he saved me. After I ran into that room, Mark’s goons never showed up again, they didn’t dare to bust in That tells me he’s somebody important.”
Letitia’s voice was soft, “I think he just hasn’t found me yet. He said he wanted to marry me.”
Even though he was drugged that night, he was a perfect gentleman.
Vidonia asked, “Have you fallen for him?”
Letitia sighed, “Love is too much of a luxury in my life, I can’t even entertain the idea”
“What now?” Vidonia was pacing, all worked up. “Are you going to keep the baby?”
“Yeah. I want this baby, not for anyone else, just for me.”
Babies are little angels
Letitia thought, the baby chose her to be his mom, and she couldn’t let him down.
After a long, hard think, Vidonia finally said, “Alright, if that’s your choice, I respect it and I’m with you all the way!”
Letitia gave a warm smile. With Vidonia by her side, she was truly grateful. She felt her strength renewed
“If it’s meant to be…” Letitia said, “I might meet the baby’s father again, or maybe, he’ll never even know.”
“No worries, your baby has not only you, but me as his family!”
“You betcha, Vidonia, you’ve gotta be the godmother.”
Vidonia gnnned, “You know it Okay, for my godson’s sake, I’ll snoop around about that night’s events, maybe we’ll track down the guy”
“Right!” Letitia nodded and walked out.
“Take it easy, slow down” Vidonia carefully helped her, muttering. “You’re pregnant now… Oh boy, just yesterday I was egging you on to throw punches, what if you’d gotten worked up?”
Letitia laughed, “I’m not that fragile. But being cared for felt really good.
Back at her desk, Letitia found a huge parcel.
inside were all sorts of fancy health supplements for women, with a note-
“Letitia, take good care of my great-grandchild. Splurge on the best for food, clothes, and everything. Finish these this month, I’ll send more lated”
It was from Hawley
Les accepted the gifts. Hawley always thought the baby was Elgin’s, and Elgin was too proud to deny it.
Chapter S
She could hardly imagine Hawley’s face when he found out.
That day, without Hawley’s protection, would be the day she’d lose the baby.
She needed to hurry up with the divorce, hurry up and uncover the truth. Only then could she escape these dire straits, and only then could she protect her child and save her parents!
Letitia knew she had a lot on her plate.
At night, back at Ivory Towers, Letitia sat under the lamp again, dedicating herself to mending the emerald bracelet.
Elgin hadn’t come back yet that evening, and she enjoyed the peace.
He’s probably showering Shela with his usual sweet words, no doubt. Letitia thought, she wished Elgin would spend every waking
moment with Shela!
“Madam, rest your eyes for a bit, staring non-stop is bad.” The butler came with some soup, “Mr. Hawley ordered it to be prepared.”
“Thanks”
Letitia nibbled, and seeing no one around, lowered her voice, “Sir, don’t take this the wrong way, I just want to ask you a few questions… If it’s not okay, you don’t have to answer and can leave right away.”
The butler remained silent
“I’ve always believed that my dad didn’t kill Mr. Marcel. I’ve said this in front of Elgin and have always been firm in this belief. So, I’m looking for the truth.”
This was the first time she’d shared her purpose with an outsider. She trusted the butler, he’d always helped her silently, never harmed
her.
“Madam, keep that to yourself, never mention it to anyone else,” the butler said gravely, “otherwise, it will bring disaster upon you.”
“I’ve only told you this I trust you, butler.”
The butler’s voice was barely a whisper, “Take my advice, don’t waste your effort.”
But Letitia’s eyes lit up, “So, you’re telling me the truth hasn’t been uncovered yet, right?”
“Shh! That’s not what I mean.”
“Yes!” Letitia insisted, “Staying at Ivory Towers, I have only one goal! Sir, you understand, only when the truth comes to light can my family, my child, and I truly live!”
“But..” The butler’s eyes showed pity.
It was so hard, and certainly not something Letitia could tackle single-handedly.
“Sir, can you give me a clue?” Letitia asked, “If it’s difficult for you, maybe just a hint?”
Hope gleamed in her eyes, the truth was her only salvation from a painful life!
“I don’t have any proof, nor can I help you,” the butler sighed softly, “The higher the circles, the deeper the secrets. A lot of stuff cant be proven with evidence, it’s all about watching and guessing.”
*So, can I find anything by staying close to Elgin?”
The butler thought for a moment, then shook his head.
‘Ma’am, Ivory Towers is Mr. Ramirez’s private residence, which he moved into after taking over the Ramirez Group. Before that, Mr. Ramirez lived at the Ramirez Mansion.”
Letitia was a sharp cookie, she’d catch on quick, “I get it, so you’re saying…”
