Chapter 12
DANNY
I don’t know what Jordan is doing. I mean with Kyle I got the card that says this is what’s going on. Jordan, it’s like a blinking light outside a door with no sign. You know it means something, but you have no fucking clue what it is. I am just ready to tell him to kick rocks. Only I stopped short because I did tell him that I would be his friend. He just seems so full of shit half the time. Like I know he knew we were going to the movies, so why did he act surprised that we were there.
Taking a seat at the diner we are surrounded by the other football players that were at the movie and their dates. Jordan seems to be the odd man out. He’s alone. I am not the only one to notice either. One of the burly guys from the party addresses it. “So, Peters, why do you keep hitting on Miller’s girl?”
“Well, Pearson, I don’t think Miller deserves her.” Jordan smirks at Kyle.
Kyle just pulls me closer. “Eat shit Peters.”
Kyle has pulled me so close that I am practically sitting on his lap. He doesn’t seem to care either, because he is still pulling me closer.
One of the blonds that is with one of the burly guys, this one I have never seen before. “I think it is so funny the way you use your last names. It’s like impersonal.”
Her date grabs her sides and pulls her onto his lap. “That’s how Coach calls us, so that’s what we call each other.”
A brunette on the end, scoffs. “I don’t get what the big deal is with this girl. She isn’t anyone.” I want to punch her in the face, but a part of me believes it. That’s what my parents think. Probably Courtney too. She is being nice at the moment, but Lord knows how long that will last. With her mood swings I am sure she will hate me again by the time I get home.
Pearson laughs. “You’re just pissed because he tossed your ass to the side.”
Ok, now I get it, this is one of Kyle’s girls. He pulls me closer as Pearson says that. “Way to go. Thanks for airing my dirty laundry dude.”
Jordan smiles. “Someone had to.”
“You just shut the fuck up.” Kyle glares at him.
The waitress was coming over, but when she heard Kyle she stopped in her steps and seriously debated turning around. I saw it. After she realized that they weren’t going to punch each other she approached the table. “Are you guys ready to order?”
Everyone goes around the table ordering. Last is me and Kyle. Kyle orders a big burger, which is like a 1 lb patty, fries and a chocolate shake. I order a smaller burger and fries with water. I think the waitress hates us right now. Half the girls at the table had to customize their orders. Not to mention there are so many of us. The guys are not quiet either. I think they think they are still on the field. They are loud and have no filter. I seriously think they need to tone it down. But I am new to the group and I don’t plan on sticking around, so I keep my mouth shut.
The brunette on the end glares at me a few times before she speaks to me. “You look familiar.”
Kyle kisses my neck. “She is Courtney’s sister.”
“Oh, I see it now. That explains the big ass sweater.”
“Hey, that is my sweater.” Kyle tugs at it. “I want her to wear it.”
I finally spoke up a little. “I don’t like to show off. Is there a problem with that?”
She smirks. “Only if you want to be alone your whole life. Cause there is no way you can keep a guy like Kyle interested.”
Pearson laughs. “Yeah, right. I have seen what is under that sweater, she can definitely keep a guy interested.”
Now all the guys are looking at me. “What?”
Pearson bites his lip. “Take it off sweetheart. Let them all see what you’re working with.”
“Uh, I don’t think so. The only reason why I took it off last night was because I spilled beer on it.”
Kyle leans in. “Go ahead and take it off for just a minute. They are going to pester you until you do.”
“I don’t want to. You know Courtney wouldn’t like it.”
“Courtney can go screw herself. Do it.”
We are whispering back and forth. I grit my teeth, “Fine.” I pull the sweater off and toss it at him. “Now you can keep it.” I get up from the table, the other guys start heckling Kyle but I don’t care. I go to the register and pay for my dinner. Kyle is right behind me.
“Danny, come on, it wasn’t that big of a deal.”
“I told you that I didn’t want to.”
The waitress comes to the register. “How can I help you?”
“I am paying for my meal, feel free to take it home and have a meal on me for having to deal with the assholes at my table.” I throw down my money and walk out.
Kyle is right behind me. “Danny, please wait.” I make it out of the diner before he grabs me. “Danny, really I didn’t think it was that big of a deal.”
“You know this is me Kyle. I can’t keep stepping out of my bubble to be like them. That isn’t me. Maybe you would be better off with one of them.”
He pulls my body to his. “I need you, not them. I won’t ask you to do it again. I promise.”
“Kyle, I know I have issues, but let me be me. I’ll pretend to be your girlfriend if you just let me be me.”
He kisses my head. “Anything. Please, just come back in. You can put the sweater back on.” He passes me his hoodie.
I take it, “Fine, but I mean it.”
He cups the back of my neck, kissing my forehead. “I know. Please, just don’t leave.”
I slip the hoodie back on. “Alright, let’s do this.” I groan and head back into the diner. This time Kyle pulls me down on his lap. He’s holding me tight.
“Since you gave your food to the waitress, you can share with me.” He whispers and kisses my neck.
Pearson laughs. “Boy you got Miller by the balls don’t you.”
“I don’t think so. I just don’t plan on being a pushover.”
The waitress notices that I came back in and comes to the table. “Did you change your mind?”
“Nope. It’s all yours. Thanks.”
She smiles and nods at me. She even gives me a little wink before she turns around. I think I like her. Everyone starts talking amongst themselves. Thankfully leaving me alone now. I am sure they just think that I am a big bitch now. I really could care less. I am not here to impress people. I am here to pretend to sleep with Kyle to win him a bet.
Jordan leans over towards me. “Are you alright?”Exclusive © content by N(ô)ve/l/Drama.Org.
“Yeah, fine. Like I said. I am not a pushover.”
Kyle pulls me away from Jordan. “Can you back off for like five seconds dude?”
“I was talking to Danny, asshole.”
“And I was saying to drop it, asshole.”
“I think I’m going to go home.” I try to stand but Kyle grips me harder.
“Please. I’ll stop.”
I turn and look at him. “Really, this is how you want to play it?”
He smirks. “No, this is how I want to play it.” He takes a hand off my waist and puts it on the back of my neck and brings my mouth to his. He flicks his tongue over my lip, I am assuming that is so that I open up for him, but I am not doing that. I’m just not ready. Not to mention, I am still mad at him.
He pulls back and pecks my nose. “We are almost done for the night, then we can go home and talk about all this.”
“Oh, we are going to talk alright.”
I bide my time. Kyle feeds me some of his fries. He tries to feed me some of his burger too, but I refuse. I don’t want him thinking he won. As far as I am concerned this needs to end fast. I’ll say I slept with him today if that ends this. I have had about enough people staring at me. People talking to me. People want to know about me. I am ready to be invisible again.
