Chapter 83. Being Hero is a B*tch
Noah POV
I watched Britney stomp her feet as she marched angrily away from me. “Mr. Hunter, the meeting is about to start.” Chris, my assistant, informed me. I nodded and went to the conference room with Chris following behind me. While striding to my chair, I was already barking orders for my people.
“Issue a statement on our company’s page that Britney White is no longer under contract with Noah Enterprises.”
The PR team looked askance, and I had to widen my eyes at them to get them started.
“Are you listening to people? I said.
“Inform everyone Britney White is no longer connected with Hunter
Enterprises, effective immediately.” I roared to my stupefied staff and shook my head at them.
“Now!” I shouted because everyone stared at me like I had grown another head or something.
The shout must have done the trick, and everyone scampered out of the office, leaving Langley, Chris, Brent, and me in the conference room.
“Was it an indirect announcement that you are breaking off your engagement with her?” Langley cleared his throat before he asked the question the other two must be thinking about.
“Yes. She is no longer connected to me. From now on, Britney White is not even allowed to enter this building, and all other properties owned by Hunter Enterprises are off–limits to her.”
“About time you did that. That girl is a pain in the ass.” Brent mumbled.
“I already relayed the information to the reception area,” Chri

I sighed. “Are we still passing the buck here? Gan’t we both be happy the crisis had been averted without Briana knowing?” Contentt bel0ngs to N0ve/lDrâ/ma.O(r)g!
Marcus Ford tulled on the other line. “1167 sure are you that Brians did not se6 the article maligning her? Of course, she saw it But I have to hand it to you. Because of that, Briana has agreed to date Luke Bennett. Don’t worry, Luke promised to take care of your children for you.” Marcus said and hung up.

My chest heaves, and my heart feels like it has been ripped off my chest.
“What’s wrong?” Brent asked.
I did not notice his approach until he was speaking above me.
He leaned closer to see what was in my phone. “The b*stard is teasing you,” He stated in my silence.
“No. The Fords are serious about it. It has a “don’t touch” warning all over it.”
“As if that could stop you.” Brent snorted.
“I promised Ford last night that I would be leaving Briana alone. I can’t get close to her that would spark a talk of reconciliation between us because that would bring credit to Britney’s claim. They would tag Briana as the “other woman“.”
“She is your ex–wife. No one is going to call her that. In truth, the credit must go to Britney. You divorced Briana and started a relationship with Britney right after.”
1 brushed my hair back and leaned my head on the table.
“That is where you are wrong. I have enemies. The Fords have enemies. Those unscrupulous people could use this to their advantage.”
“So, you decided you are going to be the hero and sacrifice your family’s happiness for their safety?” Brent mocked,
“That is a b*tch, dude!” Brent did not even wait for my reply to add.
I sighed and leaned back on my chair.
“I know.”
“Mr. Hunter, it’s the reception.” Chris butted in. He handed me the phone, and I took it.
“What is wrong?” I asked wearily,
