Chapter 44 OPEN YOUR EYES BABY
Kira rushed out of the room at once, she got into the elevator and just as the door was sliding shut, Mr stranger stepped in with a gun in his hand.
“Why are you holding a gun?” Kira frowned.
“You can never be too careful, besides it might come in handy when we get to our destination,” he smirked at her.
“I never did catch your name,” she said as the door pinged open and they walked out of the elevator.
“I thought you would never ask,” he smiled, and Kira had a view of his perfect dimple.
“Vincenzo,” he whispered as if he didn’t want her to hear his name, and Kira smiled.
They got to the door of the room where the sound came from, but it was locked from the inside. The sound of someone screaming from pain filled their ears and Kira turned to look at Vincenzo.
“I need you to go down there and tell Mr Callan what is going on here and have him send the securities to help while I get the key to this room,” she turned away from him and was about to leave in search of the key when she felt her wrist being tugged.
“Here, have this,” he passed the gun to her and she took it from him. “I believe you are smart but I don’t trust myself to leave you without protection.”
She looked down at the gun in her hand, wondering how on earth she would be able to shoot it. But before she could form the word, he began to speak again.
“No matter what is going on in there, don’t interfere unless there is something that let you know things are not as they seem. And make sure that the gun is facing away from you before you pull the trigger, and aim for the victim’s leg, okay?” he kissed her hard on the lip before walking away so fast.
What the heck was that? She asked herself but couldn’t dwell on it for long as another sound came from the room.
Running down the hallway, she walked into the room where they kept important things and fished out the key for the room before rushing back to the door. She thrust and turn around the key, before pushing the door open and storming in.
Her eyes widened when she saw a man strangling a woman in the room, she slowly stepped closer until she was a few feet from them and her eyes widened again when she saw the woman’s face.
‘What the hell is Lexi doing in a club?’ was the first question that came to her mind, but she didn’t have the time to think about that when her friend started to turn pale.
The man strangling her brandished a knife, intending to stab her and she quickly cocked the gun in her hand, pointing it at him.
“Get away from her!” she yelled and his hand stopped in the air.NôvelDrama.Org holds text © rights.
He was hesitant and she knew it, but she was ready to shoot before he could get that knife anywhere near Lexi. She would be damned if she let him stab her right in her presence.
“I would not repeat myself… get away from her,” she stepped closer, he dropped his hand then and turn so swiftly toward her.
Kira panicked and pulled the trigger so fast, then pull it again, not caring where the bullet touched as long as she hit her target. The sound of a man groaning snapped her eyes opened and she saw the man writhing on the ground.
She had shot him in the chest and his right leg but she was sure he would survive until Vincenzo come to their rescue. Kira dropped the gun and ran to Lexi’s side, she caught her before she could fall to the ground and held her to her chest.
“K-Kira?” She smiled weakly before her eyes slid shut.
“Open your eyes, Lexi, don’t close them on me,” she yelled as tears dripped from her eyes, trailing over her cheek. “Open your eyes.”
The door burst open and she expected to see Vincenzo coming in with help but was surprised to see someone she never thought she would see in real life.
Aziz Mustafa? The only son of the most powerful man in California!! What is he doing here?
Her question got its answer when he rushed forward and took Lexi out of her arm, cradling her to his chest as tears slid out of his eyes as well.
“Baby!” He cried. “Open your eyes baby.”
“Where is the ambulance?” He barked at the men that came with him, one of them stepped forward after he was told that the ambulance is waiting already. He picked up Lexi’s things that were scattered across the room.
Aziz scooped Lexi into his arm, straightened to his full height and moved toward the door. He suddenly stopped and crane his neck around to address the men.
“Get him and lock him up until I return, none of you should touch him or inflict any pain on him. I will be the one to do that myself,” with that he walked out of the room, leaving his men to carry out his order.
Kira’s mind was in a mess, she didn’t understand how her ex-best friend would have anything to do with the powerful Aziz, but she was certain Aziz called Lexi baby just now.
“Kira,” Vincenzo’s voice snapped her out of her thought and she turn to him, running into his arm as new tears streamed down her face.
“You did well Kira, you saved that lady from being killed,” he pats her back gently as she sobbed on his shoulder.
“I would do anything for her, she deserves it after I treated her badly,” Kira muttered and Vincenzo pulled away a little.
“She is your friend, the one you betrayed?”
Kira nodded. “Her name is Lexi, and she is the reason I am here in California. I want to apologize to her but I don’t know how to find her in the big city.”
“You need not look for her for so long then, if you had paid attention to the news, you would have known she is also popular in California as the most successful wedding planner in the city and as Aziz’s stepsister.”
“What!? Lexi is Aziz’s stepsister?” Her eyes widened at the news and she almost couldn’t believe her ear.
“You must have been so intent on finding her that you shunned the news so well?” He placed his hand on her head and stroked her hair.
“I want to know what hospital she was taken to,” she pleaded and Vincenzo sighed. He pulled out his phone, ready to make a call when one of Aziz’s guards walked back into the room that is back to being neat once again as if nothing happened in it.
He stopped in front of Kira and Vince. “Boss want to see you in the hospital,” he said and Kira’s heart skipped.
