Second Thoughts After Divorce

Chapter 74

Rose’s POV

“You want some fond? None of this hospital shit? I can go and find the best pack chef around and get him to make you something nicer?” Ashton offers, holding my hand the way he has been since I had woke up right by my side.

I could tell from his tired face and sunken dark eyes that he was exhausted but he continued to fight

“You should rest Ashton…” I begin to say, as he waves his free hand to cut me off and shakes his head.

back…

“I’ll go get you dinner first, what you wanting?” He presses, and I just know from his tone that he wouldn’t be willing to give it up now that the idea of feeding me some nice food was there.

before thankfully

“Ok… but after that, you have to get some rest, that’s the deal here!” I present my bargain, as he thinks on it for a brief moment b agreeing with a sigh.

“You’re right, il rest a

I get back. He concludes, as I push a smile out to him

Nothing good can come of him not getting any sleep. I can only imagine the last time that he has rested properly with everything that’s gone on since the ball.

Not to mention Jacob’s major betrayal that came to light, I wonder what he thinks about that? But I’ll wait until later to bring that up since right now, he was dead set on bringing me something to eat.

“I would enjoy something with chicken, anything at all, only if they have it!” I admit truthfully, with a small grumble following from my stomach to confirm my hunger.

I was hungry and I would be lying if I said that a good meal didn’t sound perfect right now… I’ll admit that he can in fact read me like a book.

“Great, Lydia can come in and sit with you until I’m back.” Ashton rises from his current position, leans towards me to leave a lingering kiss on my lips, before moving towards the door.

I hear him exchange some words out in the hallway, before Lydia passes him and comes in – smiling from ear to ear as she approaches my side.

You look so much better already! I’m so glad that you’re ok Bose, I wouldn’t forgive myself if they didn’t get there on time! When you first arrived back here, I really did worry you looked drained.” Lydia babbles, sinking in to the chair beside me as I crank my head around to face her properly from my position on the hospital bed.

“None of this was your fault Lydia… none of it at all! You done the best thing for us by running whilst you had the chance to go and find help!” I tell her firmly, glad to see her in the flesh and proud of her bravery with escaping.

“Yeah… b–but… when I heard that gun shot, and heard you scream, I wanted to turn back for you so bad but I knew that it wouldn’t give either of us a chance at survival. I was useless against them, the only thing I could do was to run and get you some real help like you told me to… I’m just glad it all worked out in the end.” Lydia’s eyes water, as she rubs at them to hold them back.

There had been enough sadness recently, we had to look forward now to our future.

We were both safe once again and that’s what mattered!

Thank you Lydia, for being my friend” I smile, as she nods and sniffles a little.

“Stop it! You’ll make me cry all over again!” Lydia claims, throwing her head back and blinking furiously at the ceiling as we both giggle at her words.

Our moment of laughter was put on pause when the nurse from before entered the room with a gentle look on her face. She wheeled in her little tray. glancing up to me before pushing it to the opposite side of the bed from where Lydia was currently seated.

“Just here to do a quick blood test dear, make sure everything is how it should be now that we’ve gotten some of the Alphas blood in to you!” She explains, as I nod and pull out my other arm from beneath the sheet to give her access.

Lydia remains silent, watching wide eyed as the nurse cleans my inner elbow with a soaked alcohol wipe before retrieving a fresh needle from a packet.

“Just a

st a little prick sweetheart – it will all be over in a minute or so if you want to close your eyes?” The nurse questions, as I sigh and do just that – not enjoying the whole hospital routine at all but knowing that it was necessary.

With that, the needle pierces the skin and I wriggle my nose in discomfort as it stays there for a moment before she draws it back and retrieves what she needed from me.

“All done! I’ll go check it over and will be back with the results!” I open my eyes to find her wiping the broken skin before placing a small circular plaster to the bleed.

“Thank you…” I tell her as she clears up the area and nods back at me kindly before leaving the room once again with myself and Lydia behind.

1 tum back to my friend, watching her chew her lip as though she was bursting to tell me something.. as I raise a brow and her cheeks flare red. NôvelDrama.Org owns this.

What is up with her?

“I uh…….. I have a HUGE secret to tell you… and I also need your advice…” Lydia trails off, acting giddy about something as I nod for her to go on.

I was grateful for the normalcy with her as though it was just a typical day of gossiping with her as my new friend.

I needed this… after what had happened to us…

“So the deal with Hunt… obviously he’s been overly kind to me since everything went down with Nathan… inviting me to the ball with him and stuff?” Lydia begins, bringing Hunt in to the conversation which explains her blushing.

I knew that they liked one another, since their relationship sparked off as quickly as a house catching on fire from the second they spent time together.

“Yeah? What’s going on with that?” I press her, knowing that there had been some sort of development that I had missed.

“So I was sat with him outside this room waiting for you to wake up, and during that, he sort of asked what I would think about being his mate…” Lydia. shrugs, trying to act cool as my eyes grow wide like saucers

Woah! That’s a really big deal!

“That’s great Lydia? I could see you two being a thing! How do you feel about it? That’s a pretty big ask!” I ask her, as she holds up her hands and shrugs to show her uncertainty.

“I told him I would think about it… do you think I’m being ridiculous? He’s not my destined mate… but look at you and Ashton? You two done it and you two are perfect for each other. should I just go for it?” Lydia breathes, sharing her apprehension and nerves on the fact.

Coming from her past relationship with Nathan, it was daunting diving in to such a serious one with someone else.

From the little time that I had known Hunt, he wasn’t the relationship type either but that was until he met and bonded with Lydia. They clearly had a spark and after seeing the difference in Hunt when he was around her I would say it was the perfect match up!

“I say go for it! What is there to lose?” I state the obvious, as she laughs a little and runs a hand through her hair.

“You’re right, but what about the whole mate thing? What if one day he meets his match and doesn’t need me anymore?” Lydia gets to the point of her doubt, as I somewhat understand what she was saying.

When I met Ashton, he could dive in to our relationship head first after what happened to his past relationship with his mate sadly being killed in an

attack…

He needed someone to progress in to the future with and so I didn’t have to worry about losing him to anyone further down the line. Lydia though, was different. Hunt could very much still meet his true mate one day and it was unclear to me what would happen in that case.

“I see what you m

mean

Did you talk to him about it? What does the think?” I question, needing more information on the matter as she sighs…

“He said he’s done waiting around when he feels a strong enough connection forming with me and that most males don’t ever even meet their mate after a certain age… he said if we mate, then our bond grows stronger and if his true mate was to ever anive after that, he wouldn’t feel the same connection to them anyway.” Lydia recites what Hunt had told her as I follow along with her words.

I guess that makes sense?

Maybe she should just go for it?

But the thought of Hunt ever ditching her for his real mate was a terrifying thought since Lydia absolutely did not deserve to experience such heartbreak…

Maybe I should check it over with Ashton first? See if what Hunt was saying about the mate thing was true?

Would he not feel the destined bond after mating with someone else? I suppose marking and mating with Lydia would count for something in that scenario – right? He couldn’t just drop her like that after putting in so much commitment?

At the end of the day, I do believe that love is love regardless of how it happens… destiny or created… maybe they are just meant to be!
