Chapter 98
No one in Rygan’s pack had expected that attack either; they had all been celebrating Ta** announcement that he was going to be a father soon, and no one saw it coming that night.
The males all sat around the bonfire in T**’s yard, and they were all surprised to see their alpha king in attendance. It was T* pleading request to Rygan, and he showed up. Throughout the years, Rygan had become the shell he once was, now a cold alpha who was the beast of the night.
Yes, he was a protector of his people, killing threats and anything that dared trespa** into their lives. He had been there when they needed him to be, and at the birth of his and Alvira’s child, he made sure to be there.
A glimmer of hope turned when he saw he now had a child, hoping to calm down that feral recklessness knowing that he had something and someone to protect. Yet he hated that he felt no bond with his daughter; what was that?
Through the years, his relationship with Kaide had become estranged; there was still a noticeable difference and distance between the pair, and now, as all the males gathered in -Taz’s cabin, they could feel tension in the air.
Especially the moment that Vienna came into the room to welcome everyone to the baby shower, she hugged and kissed people on the cheeks, but her smile faltered when she saw Rygan at the door.
“Alpha,” she said calmly, giving a bow in a show of her respect to their king, but they all knew the relationship between them was still not the same.
“Vienna, Taz, congratulations, sincerely,” he told them both, yet he could see a form of pain in Vienna’s gaze, maybe recalling what her friend went through in that cell and not being allowed to see her in her last moments.
She cleared her throat, showing a short smile that barely reached her eyes before she left to talk to other females in attendance; she didn’t so much as spare a glance at Kaide. He was as good as dead to her.
“She will come around,” Taz assured, but he knew that was not possible unless he was forgiven by Vienna, and he hadn’t forgiven himself yet for his actions toward Elise, not even once.
He drowned out those dark, sorrowful feelings with booze, and Taz told jokes with his cheers that made the whole place laugh as they all cheered for his happiness. Suddenly, Rygan felt an eerie quiet as his hair stood on edge, and they all paused in their celebration.
Abruptly, they felt a tremor that made the whole ground tremble. The screams of people outside Taz’s home made all of them go on alert, They walked out to see the forest that surrounded their territory in flames as they heard screams from people..
They were under attack, and the humans laid waste to his men, but they had the upper hand. Rygan rained his wrath over the humans, killing them in b***dy trials until he watched all the life seep out of each one that harmed his pack, and until they were all dead, none escaped his deathly fury.
“How could they do this?” Taz muttered behind him as they watched the mass grave site of their dead being burned. Kaide was nowhere to be found, probably buried in his books, and Rygan didn’t seem to care. Not when he was holding himself back.
After the dust had settled, he watched his dead members in anger and agony, a reason for war against the humans who had so much disrespect for his people. It didn’t take long until letters were received from the neighboring pack, the Blue Moon packs, with news of their attacks. In agreement, all messages were sent to each pack for a meeting.
He was still rageful that the same humans she pitied in the beginning had taken the love of his life and now dared to attack his people.
“Dad,” he said, hearing the voice of his daughter Kayla echo from the study doors. The battle was over, and Alvira had come out of hiding with other females who weren’t warriors. It calmed Rygan’s heart to an extent as he bent to hug his daughter.
“Hello, pup. it’s ok; everything is ok now,” he said to her, assuring his daughter. He heard a slam on the table, knowing it was Alvira who cursed.
“Those filthy humans think they could attack and kill us all; they have made a grave mistake,” Alvira muttered in anger. Just as they were in the study, a letter came through; it was an invitation and agreement that showed that all six great packs in the realm would come to the moon city-six, not five.
His
eyes widened in realization. “The Calhan pack is coming to the summit,” he said to Alvira. “What?” Alvira and his two betas, who were walking into the study at that moment, froze as they all chorused in shock.
With the information that their islands at the southern borders were infiltrated, the last place they saw was Elise, a place that was impenetrable and closed to the world for decades.
It’s been years since anyone heard of them; they must have been found and attacked too. Humans were so s***d; they should have known better not to awaken a sleeping giant like the Calhan Pack. They were a powerful force to be reckoned with.
Something in Rygan’s eyes shone, maybe in anticipation and uncertain why his eyes couldn’t leave the name ‘Calhan pack’; maybe they had a clue where she was; even a marked would be enough to settle his mind and let him know Elise was resting safely.
“We will be leaving for the summit in two days,” he told his two trusted betas, with Alvira insisting on coming along with their daughter as all the families were invited.
Taz, on the other hand, wanted to stay with his mate, but Rygan assured him that his mate would be well protected within the pack; he needed someone to be an anchor for him, and for
now, Taz was the closest to it.
They began the journey to the Moon Castle, the most ancient city and territory. According to legend, it was the first pack made in society before they split up into several packs, and then it became the common ground where all packs had come during the years to have summits talk about issues, but it was last used after the siege and war 20 years ago and it was abandoned, until now.
The Blue Moon pack arrived first, with the Goldcrest second, and Rygan arriving next. Chairs were set in the great hall of the Moon Castle, its compound lit brightly for their welcome. There was a big courtyard with a glass ceiling-a place for the summit to take place.
Seats were placed around a round table, a chair for the alpha and his partner, while both their trusted guards would sit behind them
The children were left in the deep care of the castle guards, with other family members in attendance.
There was a writhing silence when the door opened, and Kyren entered with Chief Dexton by his side, both representing the Silvernight and Darknight packs.
The look of fear in Alpha Dexton’s eyes when he looked at Rygan was almost comical, but Rygan let out a grunt of discomfort before he took his seat, wanting as much to kill Dexton as he watched Kyren take the one fa***t and opposite from him.
Kyren was a** male, but even he knew how to be careful around Rygan, especially since his left eye was taken out by the beast three years ago.
“It’s good to see the whole realm hasn’t fallen into shambles because of those puny creatures who dared attack us,” Kyren muttered
“The same ones that you partnered with and bought their weapons? You both cannot be trusted, you and that b**d Dexton should be on trial right now,” Rygan muttered with a stern look at Chief Dexton, who looked like he could have been caught in the headlights.
“You insolent
“One more word, and I make you Kyren’s twin,” Rygan warned, and his betas snarled in response, showing they were ready to back their alpha and turn her into a bloody ring. The tension was thick in the air as hostility and death promises shone in their gazes.
“Uh ehm,” a voice cleared her throat. “Perhaps we could start again,” the Blue Moon’s Luna and leader Camille muttered as they both gave a silent nod in response. “We were all attacked and lost our men and people in this attack by the humans; we need to now what our best option is rather than war,” she muttered with a gulp as she clasped her hands together and faced the table.
“I have to be honest. I have relations with the human people; as you know, a lot of my people are halflings,” she muttered. “Even my daughter’s mate who decided not to come is a human,” she confessed.
The round table went quiet in shock. “You decided to let your offspring mate filthy people?” Dexton hissed.
with those
Camille’s daughter, who happens to be her advisor, was sitting right beside her legs, a growl slamming the table as her eye turned a blue hue, showing her powers to those who insulted her husband.
“One more word about my mate from you, old man, and I will kill you,” she snarled at Beta Dexton, who growled back.© NôvelDrama.Org - All rights reserved.
“Loretta!” Alpha Camille shouted, making her.daughter stiffen, before she took her seat and apologized for her outburst.
“So you expect us to give mercy to these people because you have humans in your territory? I will not be doing that; you might accept them, but I won’t,” Kyren argued.
“I cannot forgive them,” Rygan’s voice rang, with everyone turning to him. “They have killed people that I cared about; they killed Alana, Alvira’s sister and my first betrothed; they killed my El-thevi people I loved, and I will not forgive them,” he said with a dark finality in his top
“For one, we are both on the same page,” Kyren snickered. It made Rygan feel sick that he was agreeing with this sick male on this matter, but the humans had done too much. It took too much from him.
“The Blue Moon and Goldcrest pack will not agree to the killing of humans; there are good people amongst the bad, and there are leaders we can reach a treaty with,” Camille argued.
“They’ve had their chance, and it’s three packs against two, Kyren argued with a dark grin. Just as Camille was about to argue,
The large doors of the halls opened as another pack was announced, the Calhan pack, with everyone’s gaze turned to the door, ready to see them as they marched in.
The table that was filled with intrigued faces all went silent with shock. Their eyes widened when the alpha and Luna of the Calhan pack walked in.
It wasn’t just a powerful aura that followed the Calhan tribe that entered, but the face of a ghost that all were shocked to see as Elise walked into the room, showing herself to the world.
That she was alive and back. Her eyes were cold with a defiant elegance as she muttered in reply. “Make those three votes,” she said with authority. She echoed to the table, still rigid in silence.
Everyone was still stunned by the revelation of her appearance; the Blackmoon pack was all frozen in place with their eyes wide and mouths open.
Elise is alive!
