Chapter 1638: She Died.

Selena asked naturally, clearly not thinking about any romantic feelings between them. Stanley quietly

looked at her dark eyes for a while before smiling and saying, "Selena, I have something to tell you."

When Stanley didn't address her as "Your Majesty," it meant that he was speaking as a friend. Selena

walked over to the nearby wicker chair and sat down, looking up at him seriously. Stanley smiled but

there was no trace of humor in his eyes as he said, "Selena, I'm worried about your boyfriend." Selena

frowned slightly and thought for a moment. Although Stanley's rejection of Osvaldo wasn't very

obvious, Selena could still sense it. She felt relieved when she heard what Stanley said because she

knew that he had her best interests at heart. She didn't blame him for being concerned about Osvaldo's

identity because she trusted him without reason since she liked him so much.

So far, Selena had not delved deep into Osvaldo's hidden identity. Stanley spoke those words out of

fear that Osvaldo might harm her and also out of respect for his position. Selena pondered for a while

and then looked up at Stanley, saying seriously, "Osvaldo won't hurt me."

Stanley observed her expression and lowered his eyelashes slightly to hide his emotions. He

understood what Selena meant: since Osvaldo had not harmed her, he could hold reservations about

him but could not do anything detrimental to him.

He was protecting Osvaldo openly.

After a moment of silence, Stanley composed himself and looked at Selena with the same gentle

elegance as before. "I understand now, Selena."

Selena smiled immediately. "Stanley, I know you're worried about me. I hesitated for a long time too..."

With Lillian and Robert's betrayal in the past, it was hard for Selena to trust anyone wholeheartedly

again.

But after an entire year of effort on Osvaldo's part, he successfully entered into her heart.

Making him the most special person in her life.

"But later on," she continued with a smile on her face,"Osvaldo told me that he would never hurt me;

with him around... no one can ever cross over him to harm me."

"Stanley," she said softly,"he is not my burden but my... protector."

Even though Stanley possessed strong willpower at this moment it was difficult for him to suppress his

emotions when looking at her pure yet sweet expression.

For Osvaldo, these things were like sweet candy, but for him they were the most poisonous arsenic.

Stanley walked over and tousled her hair, saying in a gentle voice, "Alright, let's get down to business.

I'll head back to Central City and wait for you there."

This had been agreed upon beforehand.

Stanley was Selena's right-hand man and couldn't be seen returning with someone who looked like the

Empress Dowager herself. It would make people suspicious of her intentions.

Selena stood up. "When you get back, please give my regards to my mother and tell her I'll be coming

to see her soon."

Stanley nodded in agreement.

Selena waved goodbye as she turned towards the direction of the door.

After watching Selena's slender figure disappear from view, Stanley slowly turned around and headed

in the opposite direction.

"Let's go."

Half an hour later, a private plane quietly took off from capital.

After returning from Lan Ting, Selena went to bid farewell to the Turner family's two masters once

again. As for Lauren and Hattie, Selena had already said goodbye before.

As night fell, Selena left the Turner family behind.

Leia brought her back to the small villa.

Then, in the small villa, she saw someone she expected to see.

Leia looked at the person leaning against the car door opposite her, frowning and looking like she was

facing a great enemy.

Selena patted her arm with a calm tone. "Leia, you go in first."

Leia was hesitant. "But..."

"It's okay."

Looking at Selena's expression, Leia obediently walked into the small villa alone.

The night was quiet.

Two figures faced each other across a short distance of road without moving first.

After a long time, Christ couldn't help it anymore and threw away half of his cigarette on the ground.

And on the ground were already scattered many cigarette butts.

Christ waited in place for a while until he confirmed that his body had dissipated most of its smoke

before walking towards Selena.

He stood in front of Selena with an unusually haggard face and stared at that face as if he wanted to

ask something but was afraid to speak out of some kind of fear.

Selena looked calmly at the man opposite her face after what happened with Su's family; Selena never

saw Christ again.

Although Christ was not the mastermind behind that incident, he had a hand in it.

Selena didn't feel any resentment towards Christ, but there wasn't much of a ripple either.

Christ looked at her face with a hoarse voice. "I... have something to ask you."

Selena looked into his eyes. "I know what you want to ask."

Even if she could deceive herself before, after the people from the central city came to capital and saw

her identity as the leader of Lab 717 exposed, it was impossible for them not to suspect her.

Especially after that identity was revealed, even the most far-fetched guesses would become truth.

It was beyond Selena's expectations that Christ could wait until today to come and ask about it.

Christ's fingertips made a clear sound. It was unclear whether he feared Selena's next words or

anticipated them eagerly.

Looking at his fearful yet expectant eyes in the darkness, Selena spoke softly. "She died on Creephia's

engagement night. It was one of men of the Walson family who accidentally killed her."

"Leah, Isabel and Georgia - all of you are accomplices."

Christ turned pale instantly and then turned into an ashen color in no time.

Selena didn't offer any words of comfort or blame, but simply stated, "You will never find... that little girl

who saved you back then."

After Selena finished speaking, she didn't look at Christ's face and turned to walk towards the small

villa.

Selena didn't understand or perhaps she just didn't want to understand what kind of feelings Christ had

for Creephia. She only knew that the kind and timid girl would never come back again.

Christ would never be able to wait for the little girl who saved him in the darkness in this lifetime.

At this moment, it seemed like the wind had become colder and there was a sense of sadness lingering

in the air.

Treading on icy ground, Selena walked towards where there was light.
