“Now it’s your turn to ask for permission from your parents, Luc.”
In Lucas’s embrace, Deasy requested with emphasis, reminding him of what Lucas had promised earlier.
Actually, Deasy knew it wouldn’t be easy for Lucas to convince his father. When they met, Andreas had clearly given an ultimatum, staring in disgust, stating that he would never approve of their relationship for any reason.
But this is what intrigued Deasy. She wanted this request as proof. Would Lucas be serious about fighting for her and their unborn child? Or would he hesitate and choose to follow his father’s orders?NôvelDrama.Org content rights.
“Yes, Sweetie. I’ll talk to Dad soon. But speaking of permissions, why don’t you be honest with Mom about your current pregnancy situation? You haven’t been honest about my family not giving their approval.”
Deasy loosened her embrace, slightly straightening up while looking into Lucas’s face.
“On purpose. Didn’t you see my mom’s face when she was so happy to hear that her old maid daughter is being courted? I know she must be really happy and proud. Especially because her future son-in-law is so handsome.”
Lucas blushed. It had its advantages to have a good-looking face like his.
“Yeah, she was crying too.”
“That’s right. I just didn’t want to ruin my mom’s happiness today. For now, let her not know about my pregnancy. But I’ll slowly tell her so she won’t be shocked either. Step by step. Slow but sure.”
“Like a Slank song. So, what about my parents’ approval?”
“That’s your task, Luc,” Deasy replied with a serious expression. “Your task is to convince and get their approval. I’m sure it will be very difficult to get approval from your Dad. After all… he already insulted me. Called me cheap and all. That’s why I leave it all to you because you know them best. If they agree, then I’ll ask my mom to meet your parents. But…”
“But what else?” Lucas quickly asked.
“If they still don’t approve. I…”
“I won’t back down, Darling,” Lucas interrupted as if he knew what Deasy wanted to say. He looked at her intently, trying to reassure her. “No matter what, I will take responsibility and marry you, no matter what my Dad’s answer and decision will be. You can count on that, Des. I promised that from the beginning, right?”
“Love you. Anyway, I pray that everything goes smoothly and as we hope.”
And Lucas proved his words. The next day, early in the morning, the athletic-built man deliberately visited his father at his residence. He thought this conversation should not be postponed any longer.
As soon as possible, Lucas needed to clarify how his relationship with Deasy would end. After all, from the beginning, even before meeting Deasy, Lucas had intended to cancel his wedding plans with Devina. As mentioned, he didn’t like her at all, let alone love her. It was better to prevent it from the beginning rather than fail later.
“Why did you suddenly come to Papa’s house? What’s the occasion?”
Andreas looked up from behind the newspaper he was reading. He let Lucas stand without asking him to sit.
“Lucas doesn’t like small talk, Pa.”
Andreas sipped his chamomile tea from his cup, then looked up, smiling thinly.
“Go ahead. Just get to the point; I don’t like people beating around the bush.”
“Lucas came here to clarify Lucas and Deasy’s relationship, Pa. Lucas knows that you secretly investigated and eventually met her yesterday. Here, Lucas wants to make it clear. No matter how much you forbid it, Lucas will still marry her. In whatever way, Lucas wants her to be his partner and wife, not Devina.”
Andreas stared sharply. He raised the corner of his lip.
“Such a stubborn child. What if I still don’t agree? What will you do?”
Lucas took a deep breath. He looked at his father with full conviction in response to his words.
“Lucas will resign from the position you gave him. Or if you want, you can remove Lucas from the list of heirs; that’s fine too.”
Andreas clenched his jaw. He looked closely, preparing his words for what his son had just said. So, should he be firm in his response?
