My Mommy Is A CEO

Chapter 1154 The Reappearance of Late Cherry Blossoms

Upon hearing Leon’s words, Sage was moved. He had been good to him. After sitting down on the bed and pondering for a moment, he finally spoke up.

“Leon, I promised someone else that I wouldn’t talk about this. And even if I did, it wouldn’t change anything. Mr. Wood won’t let you escape.”Content is © 2024 NôvelDrama.Org.

“Just tell me!” Leon was getting impatient.

“Have you noticed that Mr. Wood specifically named the people you were complaining about in the private room when he asked you to go with you?” Sage asked after giving Leon a quick glance.

Leon thought back and realized it was true! His eyes widened as he wondered if one of them had betrayed him. But then he said,

“It can’t be them who sold me out? If so, how could Mr. Wood still let them go with me?”

“Leon, think again,” Sage urged him while looking at him intently. “Who else in that private room wasn’t named?”

As soon as Leon remembered who it was, his gaze turned fierce and angry. He tried to storm out but Sage quickly grabbed his arm and whispered,

“Don’t be impulsive! Tommy didn’t do this on purpose. Mr. Wood suspected something so Tommy had to investigate you.”

“Investigate?!” Leon roared angrily, “He can sell me out just because of suspicion?! Hasn’t he forgotten how I took care of him before?!”

Sage tried hard to hold onto Leon but due to his disability, he couldn’t stop him from pushing past into Tommy’s room where they heard voices coming from inside.

“He didn’t suspect anything,” Tommy said over the phone. “Yes, Mr. Wood, could you reconsider this matter? I’m not pleading for him, nor do I agree with what he did, but this is too risky. Leon is just being selfish at worst. He hasn’t done anything wrong against you… I understand. I got it…”

It was clear who Tommy was talking to on the phone but they could also hear that he genuinely wanted Casper not to punish Leon too harshly.

Upon hearing all of this through a crack in the door, Leon quietly closed it again before pulling Sage back into his own room where they sat together on edge of bed. Leon looked extremely dejected.

“Leon,” Sage felt sorry for what happened. “You really can’t blame Tommy for all of this. You know what kind person Mr. Wood is. He has no choice but follow orders. Just remember, you’re taking a huge risk by going along with them…”

“What can I do now? If I say that I don’t want to go, will I still be alive?” Leon used to admire Casper’s decisive actions, but when it came to himself, it was a different story. “If things fail and my brothers and I get caught, he won’t spare us.”

Leon knew this all too well. He would have done the same thing if he were in Casper’s shoes.

“Leon…” Sage walked slowly towards Leon and looked at him seriously. “If I tell you that there is a way out for you, but it’s difficult, would you take it?”

Leon stared at Sage and saw the sincerity in his eyes. He knew that Sage was looking out for him so after some thought, he nodded his head.

For the next two days, Leon prepared everything needed for the operation as if he didn’t know anything while Sage helped by providing information on Nia and Kevin’s whereabouts. However, every time Tommy met them, he intentionally avoided them without any reaction from Leon.

After finishing work on Development Zone Project in the East of the City, Arthur had some free time but still made sure to spend time with Lucia like before. Although Lucia enjoyed his company especially when she was tired from work, seeing him sitting there always made her feel comfortable. She also knew that there must be a reason why someone as busy as Arthur would spend all day with her.

“Arthur, is something wrong again?” After returning from a meeting back to her office, Lucia saw Arthur hunched over his laptop processing business matters on the sofa and walked over asking with concern.

It wasn’t easy having Davonnis Corp’s CEO working in her office like this.

Arthur pushed aside his laptop slightly and turned around smiling at Lucia, “What? Don’t you like me being here?”

“Of course I do,” Lucia reached over to grab Arthur’s hair near his temple playfully saying, “But you don’t seem like someone who has nothing else going on…” She glanced over at his laptop deliberately after speaking.

Arthur leaned back against the sofa holding onto Lucia before telling her, “Casper is planning an assassination of Nia and Kevin these days. They might act soon.”

Lucia wasn’t surprised by this news instead asked curiously, “So what does this have to do with you always being around me?”

“It’s just keeping company,” emphasized Arthur lightly smiling and saying, “This operation is bound to fail anyway. My only worry is about what Casper will…”

“No,” Lucia immediately interrupted Arthur’s guess, “even if I can, I won’t participate again. Let them both have their fill this time. As for you, everything should be arranged properly, right?”

“Well, it’s all taken care of,” Arthur said as he gently stroked Lucia’s hair.

“Then that’s all there is to it?” Lucia smiled and spoke softly. “Don’t worry about it. Do you think I’ll fall for Casper’s tricks again?”

Arthur didn’t respond but just looked at Lucia tenderly.

There was an important matter that needed Arthur’s personal attention in Davonnis Corp that afternoon so he had to leave first. But before leaving, he repeatedly instructed Lucia to wait for him and go home together later. With a soft reply from her side, she saw him off at the elevator and then turned around to walk towards Gracie’s seat.

“Arthur didn’t notice anything, did he?” The smile from earlier had disappeared along with Arthur’s departure as Lucia asked Gracie with a serious face.

“No,” Gracie replied while taking out a bouquet of flowers from under the table – pale purple cherry blossoms – which she showed to Lucia as she stood up,

“When they were delivered earlier, I intercepted them right away.”

Lucia stared at the bouquet of flowers with burning eyes almost wanting to burn them down herself.

For the past two weeks someone had been sending cherry blossoms every day at 2 pm sharp. Although no one said anything about who sent them anymore, everyone already knew who it was.

What did he want?! To remind her over and over again of the pain she suffered before?!

“Ms. Webb… Do we still need to hide this from Mr. Davies?” Gracie felt like something wasn’t quite right doing things this way.

“Don’t tell him yet. Destroy any more flowers that come my way.” A deep hatred flickered in Lucia’s eyes as she continued speaking, “I want to see what he wants!”

Gracie didn’t understand who “he” was in Lucia’s words but couldn’t help feeling uneasy looking at her boss while suppressing an ominous feeling inside herself.
