Chapter 92 What We Have in Mind
Eva once had a dinner with Bonnie at Bearwick and that’s why she noticed the sign inside the box.
Esther’s trick was pointed out by Eva and now she was disgraced in the face of Caleb. She had even told Caleb that the soup was made by her.
“I picked a box at hand to hold the soup. What’s wrong with that?” Esther denied doggedly.
“Oh, I thought you are the chef of Bearwick. Then you must have a lot of Bearwick’s boxes at home.” Eva sneered.
“You…” Esther said in wrath.
The change on Esther’s face made Eva feel much better.
Esther knew she couldn’t do anything about the soup anymore so she changed the topic.
“But without a decent look, one could not attract others to find her inner beauty.” Esther thought her background was superior to the woman before her so she said even more arrogantly.
“Just see how proud you are of yourself. But it is a real world, my little girl.” Eva disliked the arrogance in her voice and now she really wanted to start a war with Esther.
“That’s exactly what I want to say to you. You are just a guest in this house,” Esther said as if she were the hostess.
“But I remember you also said you are a guest, right? But as a guest, I would spend my night here. But you…” Eva fought back. By no means did she want to lose this fight.
Though Caleb looked quite indifferent now, the faint smile on his face still betrayed him.
Now she sounded like the hostess of the home.
Hearing her words, Esther was shocked. The woman even lived here!
Esther turned to Caleb with hope, but Caleb didn’t even bother to have a look at her.
“Maybe you can leave right now,” Caleb said in a cold voice.
Esther turned back with much rage and picked up her purse to leave Rosenfeld Hill.
“Goodbye, Miss Deville.”
Eva stared at her back and smiled with pride.
It was definitely Eva who won this game.
Eva felt much better now and got back to her room happily.
Esther was always a problem in Eva’s mind and Caleb didn’t make any explanation to her last time and she even swaggered into this house.
She was just unable to stand this girl anymore.
But when she thought of Caleb sitting there motionlessly like an onlooker and ignoring her to let Esther scold her in his face, Eva felt quite sad.
If today it was she who found fault with Esther, would Caleb defend her or stand on Esther’s side. In the past she was quite sure that he would stand with her. But she began to doubt her answer.
Caleb saw Eva went upstairs without a word, he put down the newspapers in hand and looked quite disappointedly.
The relationship between them had just improved, but now things got more complicated.
Now Caleb thought maybe he should seek some advice from Nathan.
Caleb did care about the relationship between Eva and Adam, whereas Eva was caring about his relationship with Esther. But they were both reluctant to ask each other about the thing they cared about.
They didn’t sleep well that night.
The next day when Eva got downstairs, Caleb noticed the dark circles around her eyes and frowned.
Eva didn’t fall asleep until three or four o’clock in the morning. But she needed to get up early so now she looked quite like a panda.
Caleb gave a look at the housekeeper, who then bring the breakfast for Eva.
They sat opposite to each other but they remained silent.Content is property of NôvelDrama.Org.
At the shooting site, Eva intended to have a nap when they got a rest. But she didn’t know that Caleb had already informed Nathan to finish today’s filming early so that Eva could have a rest earlier.
Nathan frowned when he received his order. After all, he wanted the filming to finish as soon as possible.
Just because Eva didn’t sleep well, his brother even asked all the crew members at the film set to rest earlier. What a tyrant!
Esther couldn’t help but feel humiliated when she got back home. So, she got to Irene’s house to report what happened yesterday to her.
Caleb’s mother, Irene Carlson, who was looking after her garden, saw Esther came and then looked at her smilingly.
“We haven’t meet each other for a year. You look even more pretty now…” Irene greeted her the moment she saw her.
Irene was a friend with Esther’s mother. And when Esther and Caleb were young, Irene had even said to Esther’s mother jokingly that Caleb might marry Esther in the future. But by then Caleb was indifferent to Esther unlike his younger brother who was quite interested in other girls since young.
Then Esther went abroad for study. Irene hadn’t seen her for three or four years.
After a while, Esther began to exaggerate how she was bullied at Caleb’s place by a maid.
“Didn’t Caleb say something on your side?” Irene saw the tears in Esther’s eyes and she felt sympathy for her.
Esther nodded.
“Don’t bother. I’m on your side. I will blame Caleb. He shouldn’t have let you be bullied in his own face.” Irene thought the maid Esther mentioned was really a maid. If she knew it was in fact Eva, she wouldn’t say that. After all, Eva might become her son’s wife in the future.
Esther knew Irene had believed her and she stopped crying gradually. She had a talk with Irene and had lunch in Irene’s home before she left.
Irene had no daughter so she treated Esther as her own daughter since she was a kid. Now she wouldn’t let the impolite maid go.
Right after Esther left, Irene went to find Caleb. When she arrived at his office, she opened the door directly and found Caleb was checking his files behind the desk.
Caleb stared at the door impatiently. He thought it was an impolite assistant. But then he saw his mother.
“Why are you here, mom?” Caleb was a bit surprised by his mother’s appearance.
“What have you done to Esther?” Irene sat on the sofa and said straightaway.
“I don’t know what you mean, mom,” Caleb knew that Esther must have reported what happened to Irene.
Then he explained the quarrel yesterday. But he didn’t tell his mom how Eva humiliated Esther.
“Is that all?” Irene didn’t believe his words.
“Yes.” Caleb ignored his mother’s look and said calmly.
