Mr. President’s

Mr. President’s 51

It was past midnight but Nathan couldn’t take his eyes off the woman lying gloriously naked beside him. Events from the first time they met Blooded his mind, bringing tears to his eyes. How could he have known that this woman would become a great pillar in his life and hold the key to his happiness, bringing him out of that ice fortress he built around himself? One whose needs and wants mattered to him more than his. One who could make him travel the world or dive into the sea, just to retrieve whatever she wanted

He loved her so much, much to obsession. He had her but he still wanted her to be his, to fulfil her every desire, to give her the joy that she deserved. They finished making love barely an hour ago and she fell asleep but merely staring at her, he turned hard. He didn’t want to disturb her sleep but he couldn’t resist her as well. He trailed his finger through her spine gently, as if to not wake her.

He began placing soft kisses on her back, his hands trailing every inch of her white beautiful skin. Mercedes shrugged slightly, flipping to her back. her eyes meeting his lustful gaze. Oh, she knew that look and it made her blush. “Nat her voice was husky but.

“You sound sexy.” Nathan thought aloud. She felt herself heated but sleep was calling her. She closed her eyes to the demand of sleep when a sweet sensation jolted her awake, making her moan so loud, Nathan feared Oliver might hear them from the next bedroom. He hadn’t soundproofed the rooms yet because the house was new,

He covered her lips with his to suppress her moans, while he plunged into her. The sweetness, tightness and wetness, made him break the kiss. groaning to the pleasure. Mercedes wrapped her arms around his waist pulling him closer, his thrust hitting her G–spot. This wasn’t the gentle one. It was the rough, uncalculated needful and hungry one that left them panting and soon drowned in sleep.

Mercedes woke up without Nathan by her side but she felt something on her finger. She wasn’t a jewellery expert but from the size and how crystal clear it was, she knew it was an expensive diamond ring, more expensive than Janes. She put on some shorts and a tank top, not trying to hide the hickeys he left. The room was so huge, she felt lost admiring it with natural light. Excitement brewed in her heart but she wasn’t going to let him know. Nathan was a coward, slipping a ring onto her finger in her sleep. Wasn’t he man enough to propose as real men did? her Her with laughter.

She stepped out, the glass staircase appealing to just drool over. She descended the stairs, familiar voices filling her ears, cel

echoing heart was warmed but why should Nathan give her a ring without first proposing? Just like every girl, she dreamed of her prince charming going down on one knee with a ring in hand, throwing the magical four words, ‘will you marry me? Therefore, she couldn’t accept the ring.

Getting to the living room, they were having breakfast without her. Did she sleep for so long? “Hey, I thought you weren’t going to wake up. Hop up here,” He tapped on his thigh as if nothing had happened.

Mercedes stood with arms akimbo. Her lower belly was exposed from the tank top, her hair loose. She smiled at her mum and Sarah, then bowed slightly in greeting. They responded with a nod, their faces blooming when their eyes met the ring on her finger. Oliver was about to speak, quickly shushed by his mother. “Nat, we need to talk,” she said solemnly

Nathan thought she looked cute when she commanded him. He already knew why she wanted to speak with him in private. He did it to tease her. “Why? You don’t like the ring?” He asked innocently.

Mercedes bit her lower lip to prevent herself from speaking, beckoning him to the garden. Nathan excused himself from Sarah and Mercedes mum. With his hand wrapped around her wrist, they walked to the garden. Mercedes was mesmerized by the sight. There was also a pool. “It’s beautiful here,” she found herself smiling and said.

“Not as beautiful as you,” Nathan nibbled on her ear, sending shivers. Mercedes quickly recalled they were at war and pushed him away. “You should have asked me first,” she gritted her teeth and said.

“Would you have said No? Would you? Or you don’t like the ring?” Nathan asked all at once. There was no form of regret on his features.

“I love the ring but you should have asked me first,” she stood her ground

Nathan chuckled, “weren’t you the one who said you were putting yourself in voluntary slavery?” He

e smirked.

“I was joking.” Mercedes said, uncasiness saturating her. Nathan gleamed.

“In case you don’t understand. I take your words quite seriously and we are getting married, whether you like it or not,” he squinted.

Mercedes wasn’t amused. She wasn’t ready to let her childhood dream die. Besides, the Legends knelt before no one so how could she expect Nathan to kneel before her? “Nat, it would have adorned me with respect if you had asked, she stated her concern but Nathan wasn’t in agreement.

“You are missing the point. A woman needs love, and a man needs respect. They shouldn’t be intertwined. I love you Merce,” he said and tried to hold her but she hit his hand, shoving it from ber. Nathan wasn’t angry. He seemed to be in a good mood. Suddenly, Mercedes thought of something and smiled,

“I respect you, Nathan

Nathan’s expression turned grim. “You don’t love me anymore?”

Mercedes sinisked. “A man needs respect, not love,” she pouted but the curtains were drawn on Nathan. He was getting worried, “So you don’t want to marry me?” He still had insecurities recalling the way she broke up with him before.

Mercedes turned solemn. “Ask nicely Mr President, on your knees for the woman you love.” Her hand was on the ring, about to pull it off. Nathan could feel his heart thumping. He didn’t want to upset her into leaving him again. Like a good boy, he went down on one knee and asked. “Will you marry me. Miss Winters!”

Mercedes burst into laughter but it wasn’t only hers. It was a blend of her mom’s Oliver’s and that of Sarah, Sarah was even more excited because she knew the secret that the Legends knelt to no one. Today, President Nathan Legend broke tradition and knelt before the woman he loved, and uttered the four magic words. Yet still, he didn’t get the response he wanted. It was rather attached with a condition. “In two weeks, yes, I will marry

you

His brows creased into a frown. “You are giving deadlines too?”

Mercedes extended her hands, lifting him from the lawns, her expression blooming with excitement. “Yes, I love you and I want to marry you so what stops us from getting married in two weeks!” She asked quizzically. Nathan was slightly disturbed because of his case with Jane. He hadn’t made headway and wanted his son badly. Perhaps, he had to work faster. He returned her smile,

“two weeks it is,” he agreed, his lips finding hers.

A few days later.

Nathan. Mercedes and Sarah, arrived at the Legend family villa. It was grande and as expected, Jane was upset after seeing Mercedes‘ ring.

One can choose to be the angel that lights the world or the devil who operates in darkness. No one ever said that being a good woman was easy. It had its pros and cons. It came with heavy prices but the reward was always priceless, Despite knowing that her husband was cheating. Sarah never planned or did evil against him. She always believed that what goes around, comes around. She also believed that Alex could ignore her as a good woman and have his fun but he couldn’t deny that she was exceptional. It was just impossible to ignore.

At the dining table, Sarah sat beside Nathan, in that Nathan sat between her and Mercedes. Alexander sat on her side, to his other side was Jane, Betty sat next to Jane. She hadn’t told her daughter what transpired between her and Alexander so Jane was still in full spirit. She decided to taunt Mercedes again. This time, Mercedes was equally ready. “So Nat, you gave her a ring because I called her your mistress?”

“No. I engaged her because we are getting married in two weeks, Nathan beat Mercedes to the response, while dinner was served. How could Mercedes let him know she didn’t need his help?

“A whore would always remain a whore, even with a ring, Jane cooed.

Mercedes was all smiles and this time beat Nathan to the response. “And a desperate woman will remain desperate.”

grimaced. “I am not desperate. I have known Nathan all my life. We were inseparable.”

“It doesn’t mean that he loved you,” Mercedes responded.

“How would you know?” Jane was awed at her boldness. Much less, disappointed at Alexander for not shutting up Mercedes. Even her mum hadn’t spoken and she was apprehensive.

I love you back. Giving someone all your heart doesn’t mean they would “Look, the fact that you love someone is never a certainty that they would give you theirs, Mercedes counselled, recalling her relationship with Griffin.

“A one-

e–sided love,” Jane responded. Nathan didn’t try to interfere anymore, seeing Mercedes could handle it. They began to eat while the two continued to taunt each other.

ladies

“Well, loving someone means that you care about their happiness. It should matter to you more than what you want. Let’s just say. Luke loves you desperately but you don’t love him. Will you marry him because he loves you? Mercedes asked Jane.

Jane’s response was prompt. “Definitely not”

So why do you want Nathan to marry you, even when he doesn’t love your Mercedes asked, desperate for a genuine answer. her food because this seemed to be more important to her.

She hadn’t touched

“Because we have a son together. His son needs him and so do I” Mercedes’s lips thinned. She didn’t know what to make of Jane. If she hadn’t known the truth, her depressing Clint’s would have been activated but now, she felt rather saddened. All she wanted to do was trap Jane into revealing the truth.

“His son. So why won’t you let him see his son then!” She asked slowly and carefully, Jane was suddenly upset and yelled,

Mercedes forced a smile, Jane was smart and she knew she had to try harder. “You know what? You gave me the worst embarrassment on that dance floor but that was also when I realized how much I loved Nathan so after breaking up, I went back to beg him,” her smile turned mocking and Jane was aggravated. It worked and she left Nathan so why did Nathan take her back!

“You are so shameless, Jane said, not hiding her envy. Mercedes was unfazed.

“I know, but the difference is, he loves me too. We fight for each other and we can’t live without each other. Love always perseveres,” Mercedes said to her dismay. She hated Mercedes for having Nathan’s love and she was going to make it difficult for them, using Nathan’s son

“Do you think this love of yours will last forever? We shall see about that, she threatened.

“Trust me, it will, Mercedes steadfastly said. She hadn’t been able to get anything out of Jane but was still hopeful. Afterwards, everyone ate in silence. Jane continued to throw glaring daggers at Mercedes but the latter pretended that she didn’t exist.

Alexander had been seeking the perfect opportunity to speak with Sarah. It was the most difficult thing for him to do as he waxed in guilt. “Sarah, I want you to come home. We have a lot to talk about.”

Sarah dropped her cutlery, turning to him. You called me here to tell me to come home? You called all three of us to tell me this?” She didn’t hide the irritation in her voice, which made Alexander dumbfounded. A great man was reduced to this level because of adultery. The act in itself was sweet to the groin but the consequences were devastating. Mercedes, who didn’t know all that transpired, was amazed to see him humbled.

“No, I wanted to tell you that I ended things with Betty. You are the one I love Now Mercedes gained clarity. She couldn’t believe it and she couldn’t ask Nathan. Not amid everyone. Even though Betty knew already, it didn’t ease the pain she felt. Yet, Sarah had conditions that weren’t met therefore, she announced.

“I want a divorce.”

Alexander was greatly pained. He didn’t want a divorce and would do everything possible to make Sarah his again and that included what he did next, which shocked everyone. He stood from his chair and knelt before Sarah. She didn’t believe that Alexander could be this remorseful. She knew that what he had done was a great kick of his ego, which tickled her heart. Now the great–great Legend’s tradition was broken, replaced by a new one: The Legends knelt before no one, except to God and the women they loved. “Even if I reinstate Nathan and allow him to marry Mercedes!” He knew what would make her happy and he was ready to give it all.

Sarah could affirm the seriousness, as Betty searched for a way to hide. Even Jane felt ashamed. She knew about her mother and Alexander’s affair, and that was what fueled her confidence but now, things were falling apart for her and her mum. “Well, that will be worth talking about,” Sarah forced a smile, helping him to his feet. Nathan could feel his respect for his father returning.

Doing the right thing was a humbling process but it was worth it. “Let’s celebrate then, Alexander announced, ready to pop Nathan’s favourite champagne when Jane’s phone began ringing. After answering, her face turned anxious but looking at Mercedes and Nathan, she sought a way to separate them. She couldn’t bear seeing them that way. It created a hole in her heart. “Nathan, you have to come with me,” she said in firmness.

Nathan was robust, his face creasing into a frown, “Im going nowhere with you.”

Jane used her last purchase chip out of jealousy and soon regretted it “It’s about my son! Our son!”
