I get inside the room and switch on the light I go into the closet and check for a comfortable shirt of Noah that I can wear. I see a casual tee shirt. I slid out of my clothes and put on the shirt. I fold my clothes neatly and put them in a corner of the room. I tie my hair in a pony tail and try to wipe my face free of makeup using water. I was up and got into the bed. As I pull the covers the door opens.

Noah stands at the door looking at me. He doesn’t move. He just looks at me like I’m not supposed to be here.

“Good night Noah” Nichole’s voice came as she made her way down the hall.

“Good night” Noah called after her before closing the door behind him. “What are you doing here?” he asked me in a kind of rude way.

“Isn’t this my room?” I ask him and he looks at me confused. “I mean married couples sleep in the same room so why don’t we?” I ask although I know that I caused us not to sleep in the same room.

“That is not my fault,” he said as if reading my mind.

“I know and that is why I’m back,” I say and he frowns.

“Why are you doing this?” he asked me and I looked at him weirdly even though I knew that my look wasn’t all that comfortable.

“What do you mean?” I ask him.

“For a whole week you had your dinner separately and for the same week you slept separately but today you came in here. What is going on?” he asked again. He hadn’t moved from the door and he was standing there obviously tired from the day’s work.

“Just come to bed we will talk about this tomorrow,” I said trying to pull the covers well. I saw that he was still standing there not moving. “Come on,” I said standing up and going to him.

“This is my shirt” he pointed out when I stopped in front of him.

“Yes, it is” I answered and I saw the look on his face which made me adjust. “Can I wear it?” I ask feeling uncomfortable. I should have asked him first.

“It’s okay,” he said following me in. “Go to sleep. I will change and join you later” he said walking towards the washroom.

I lay down on the bed waiting for him to come but I must have been very tired because I didn’t know when I fell asleep.

By the time I had woken up, Noah had left for work and he hadn’t bothered to wake me up so I went down to have my breakfast. Pat was on duty today as she cleaned the insides of the house. She was so busy humming a tune that she didn’t see me enter the room.

“Having a lovely morning” I said as audible as I could get because suddenly my throat was all constricted. Her head whipped around and she saw me standing there a smile stretched on her face.

“O my God, you startled me,” she said putting a hand on her chest but the smile never left her face.

“I’m sorry,” I say not actually being sorry. Although Noah and his best friend are driving me crazy. The staff are keeping me sane. Even Ben the driver makes more sense than those two. “Has Nichole gone out?” I ask and she nods.

“She went out with Noah early,” she said to me and then went back to cleaning.

“Tell Ben to bring the car around,” I say turning around to get back to the room.

“What of breakfast?” she asked.

“I’m skipping today,” I say and she looks at me like I’ve grown two heads. I know that Noah had told them to make sure I eat and she is having an internal battle on if she should listen to Noah or me.

“It’s okay. I’m fine still full from yesterday” I say trying to assure her that I’m okay.

“You barely ate yesterday,” she said. I looked at her weirdly. She wasn’t on duty yesterday. “Liliana told me” she clarified and I nodded.

“I’m fine,” I say moving away from her.

“Ben” I heard her screaming as soon as I climbed up.

“What the actual hell are you screaming about?” he screamed back and I’m actually suspecting the both of them. They are probably in love but won’t admit it to each other.

I dress quickly and get downstairs. I pick up an apple just to satisfy the watchful eyes of Pat. She nodded at me and I went out to the car.

“Where to?” Ben asked when he opened the door to the back seat for me.

“Noah’s office,” I said without missing a beat. He looked at me and then went to the driver’s seat.

“We have arrived,” Ben said when he drove into a complex. I gave him a smile when he opened the door for me.

“Thank you, Ben,” I say.

“I will hang around in case you need a ride back home,” he said and I just nodded at him. I walk inside the reception and a tiny girl greets me. She doesn’t seem rude as she looks at me. She just looks like a normal girl who wants a job and now has a job.

“Good morning, how can I help you?” she asked in a very professional voice.

“Good morning,” I say giving her a smile. “I’m here to see me. Lorraine” I tell her. Her eyes run up and down at me before she picks up the telephone.

“Front desk,” she said into the phone before listening. “One…” she looked at me for my name. ‘Rachel’ I muttered to her. “Rachel is here to see me. Lorraine” “Okay I will let her in,” she said then dropped the phone.

She turned to me. “Take that elevator to the top floor, not the roof,” she said so politely. I felt like rewarding her but had nothing to do so.Content (C) Nôv/elDra/ma.Org.

“Thanks,” I said making my way to the elevator. I took it up and I met my worst night mare.

Nichole was his secretary sitting right outside his door.
