Chapter 48
Chapter 48
“But what?” asked Thiago, looking up.
“It’s just that she is your ex wife after all. Although she has divorced, you can’t change the fact that you used to be together. Her private life is so chaotic now. It will hurt your reputation,”
Quincey wanted to say some more, but Thiago fixed her with a cold stare and slowly spoke, his tone carrying a warning.
“Quincey, I’ve made it very clear to you before. I can give you the wealth you want, but I hope you don’t make trouble again, or you k
know the
consequences.” With that, Thiago got up and headed upstairs.
The events of the past few days had indeed painted a picture of Whitney’s chaotic private life, yet Thiago couldn’t shake the feeling of betrayal.
Downstairs, Quincey seethed with anger, her chest rising and falling rapidly. She felt as if she were on the verge of exploding at any moment.
Even with Whitney’s evident flaws, Thiago still stood by her side. She couldn’t allow the rewards of her efforts to slip into someone else’s hands. Absolutely not.
In the afternoon, Jonah arrived at Whitney’s studio as promised to pick her up..
He saw Whitney approaching slowly through the window. His mouth fell open in surprise, and there was no one else in his eyes except Whitney.
Whitney had changed into the clothes they bought that morning. Her exquisite curves were perfectly showcased, and her exposed skin was complemented by the accessories she wore.
To Jonah, it seemed as though everything on her shone brighter because of Whitney herself,
“How do I look? Is this outfit suitable for the occasion?” Whitney asked as she got into the car, her confidence wavering slightly. After all, this was an elder’s birthday party, so she felt the need to be somewhat cautious in her choice of attire.
“You look fantastici Absolutely stunning!” Jonah exclaimed, mimicking the catchphrase. He gave Whitney a thumbs up before reluctantly tearing his gaze away from her,
Together, they arrived at the Gibson manor,
The old house exuded an antique charm. Compared to the cold, modern concrete buildings in the city, it felt more welcoming and humane.
It seemed to carry the weight of several generations of history within its walls.
Suddenly, Whitney felt a bit out of place in her attire.
“What’s wrong? Are you nervous?” Jonah asked, opening the car door and noticing that Whitney hadn’t moved.
Whitney shook her head and said with frustration, “You should have told me we’re coming here. I should have worn a traditional gown
She glanced down at her clothes, feeling a bit self–conscious
“Don’t worry. You look absolutely stunning” Jonah reassured her with a smile, offering his arm. Whitney rolled her eyes at him but naturally linked her arm with his,
As they entered, they were greeted by an elderly man dressed in a suit. “Hello, Mr. Gardner. Please come in. Mr. Gibson is talking to the others right now. Feel free to explore on your own first.”

“Thank you, Mr. Underwood,” Jonah–replied politely with a smile.
He then led Whitney inside.
Fortunately for Whitney, while the exterior had a traditional architectural style, the interior was modern.
They headed straight to the hall, where they found a mix of people, ranging from Whitney’s age to elderly individuals.
Of course, most attendees didn’t recognize Whitney despite her being from the prestigious Greene family. She had kept a relatively low profile.
“Look, there’s the president of the Lloyd Group, and over there is someone from the Cooper family…”
Jonah whispered to Whitney.
Whitney knew that the individuals present were all prominent business leaders, indicating the high status of the event’s hosts.
Whitney felt fortunate to be in such an esteemed company.
After some time, Whitney suddenly felt the urge to use the bathroom. She excused herself from Jonah and headed there alone.

As Whitney approached the bathroom door, a large hand blocked her path.
Frowning, she looked up to see Thiago standing before her. Only he would dare to intercept someone outside the ladies‘ room.
“What are you doing?” Whitney asked, trying to push past him..
However, Thiago’s expression remained cold and unyielding. Content © NôvelDrama.Org.
Whitney sighed internally. She wasn’t surprised by Thiago’s behavior, treating her as a low–life.
“What do you want?” Whitney asked, growing impatient with Thiago’s persistence.
“Are you and Jonah really together now?” Thiago’s voice was as cold as his eyes.
“Hal” Whitney sneered, then met Thiago’s gaze squarely. “Does it have anything to do with you? You and I are divorced. Whether I talk to someone or not is none of your business.”
Thiago’s expression darkened at Whitney’s words, but she remained unfazed.
The more he acted that way, the more satisfied she felt
“What’s wrong? Cat got your tongue? Or do you regret divorcing me?” Whitney smoothly slipped past Thiago and turned to face him. “Anyway, I don’t regret it!” With that, she disappeared into the bathroom partition.

Thiago, standing at the door, withdrew his hand and gritted his teeth. “What does she mean by saying she didn’t regret it? She has been eager for the divorce?”
Suddenly, Thiago felt his actions were ridiculous. “Why do I care so much about Whitney’s relationship with Jonah? What does it have to do
with me?
“It was just a divorce. Did Whitney feel no nostalgia at all?”
Since encountering Thiago at the banquet, Whitney had been inexplicably annoyed. She couldn’t believe she had to run into him twice in one day, if it weren’t for Jonah, she would have left immediately.

“Winnic, come with me. It’s time for the birthday congratulations,” Jonah said, pulling Whitney’s arm and gesturing for her to follow him…
Whitney obediently followed Jonah into the hall.
It was bustling with people, most of whom seemed to be from the younger generation.
In the center sat an elderly man with white hair.
He was smiling warmly as if he were a kindly grandfather without any sense of distance.
“Thank you all for coming to my birthday celebration, As I grow older, I hope for a bright future for each and every one of you,” Patrick said with genuine warmth, prompting applause from the audience.
“Hugo Lloyd wishes you good health and happiness in life, Mr. Gibson.” Hugo presented a gift to Jerry Underwood, the butler, who opened it to reveal a porcelain vase.
“A porcelain vase,” Jerry announced.
Patrick nodded appreciatively, his gaze falling on the young man and his female companion before him, “Hugo, is this your girlfriend? You two make a lovely pair!”
“Mr. Gibson, as long as you’re happy with it,” replied Hugo, his demeanor bashful despite nearing his thirties, appearing almost childlike in the presence of Patrick,
“I’m Tobias Abbott. May your days be as happy as today, Mr. Gibson”
