His Soul & His Shame

Some people never change

It's already six in the evening and I still haven't called Ezra and told him about the gala I was going to. How can I tell him that it's just a formality and nothing more for my dad. He is not going to listen. Izzy and Daniel are nowhere to be found and I guess they are with Joanna and it's best they won't see me like this.

I dialed Ezra's number and sat down on the bed shaking my leg to stop the anxiety over taking my body.

I just hope he understands and doesn't make a scene.

He answered on the third ring and his deep voice reached my ears making goosebumps erupt all over my body. He has the power to make me a puddle in an instant. "Hello, baby girl! Missing me already?" He is in a playful mode and I don't want to ruin it but if i don't tell him now then everything is going to be a mess. "Umm, Ezra!" I don't know how to tell him.

"What happened, Fay! Is everything alright?" He seems worried at my voice and I know I am going to regret accepting my dad's request but I can't say no to him.

"Everything is fine, I am going to a charity gala this evening." I blurted out and waited for him to react but I didn't hear anything from his side for a second. "Can't you cancel it?" He asked in a calm voice not at all like the old Ezra.

"I can't, Dad asked me to attend it with his Boss's son and I can't say no to him, Ezra." I held my breath for his reaction and in no time I heard a growl from his side making my stomach drop.

"What the hell are you talking about, Fay?" He is not giving me a chance to explain as he is going on and on about how he is going to break every single thing in the venue if I go with him.

"I didn't have a choice, Ezra! And it's not a big deal as it is just a formality so my dad won't get embarrassed in front of his boss if I reject the invitation." He is making me angry too, i wanted this conversation to go cool but he won't make it happen.

"I don't care about anything, Fay! I don't want you to go and that's it." He ordered like he owns me, every fiber in my body hummed with anger at his voice.

"I don't care what you say or think Ezra and I told you it's just a formality for my father and I am going." I ended the call and threw the phone somewhere on the bed so I couldn't bash it on the wall.

I stood up to get ready and went into the washroom to take a quick shower. My mom had already picked out a dress which is a long red gown which hugs my body and accent my curves.

Doing my makeup and hair, iam set to go but my heart and head is not in it and I feel like throwing up with the way my thoughts are running from one place to another.

"Are you ready, darling! Alex is here." I totally forgot that Mr. Huston's son's name is Alex and I hope he is decent enough to maintain some distance between us.

"Yes, mom! Let's go." We both climbed down the stairs, dad and Alex are sitting in the living room talking and laughing with each other.

I can't see his face but only his back and he has broad shoulders not like Ezra but still broad nevertheless.

Don't be an asshole, Don't be an asshole, I started repeating the mantra in my head so I don't need to knee him in the balls if he tried to do something.

"There she is!" My dad exclaimed upon my arrival and I gave him an awkward smile as I was feeling anxiety eating me up.

Alex stood and turned around to face me and I stopped in my tracks seeing him. He is beautiful in his own way with blue eyes and sharp features but Ezra, he is all dark and handsome with his dangerous aura and tattoos. I need to stop thinking about him.

"Hey! You look beautiful!" I give him a genuine smile not wanting to make him feel like I am dreading every second of it.

"Thanks, you look good too." I said my goodbyes to my parents and Alex guided me to his car waiting in our parking lot.

I feel like I am doing something wrong and cheating on Ezra but this is just for my dad and his promise to his boss and I already explained it to him but still I feel so guilty and sad that i canceled our date. "What do you do, Fay! Working or studying!" He helped me sit in the passenger side and started the car.

"I Am a chef in making. The course will be completed in a month and I'm an intern in one of the known restaurants." He laughed at my attempt at sarcasm, creating a comfortable atmosphere. "What about you?" He chuckled before answering.

"It's obvious, I am working under my father and in some years I will be the CEO." I know it as my dad has told me about him.

We talked till we reached the venue and there were alot of people and media in front of it, making me gasp in surprise.

"Why is there so much crowd?" I asked Alex to which he just shrugged his shoulders like he doesn't know too.

"I don't know, let's go out and see." I opened my door this time and stood there dumbfounded with the way the media is clicking pictures and screaming for someone's name to get their picture. "Does some hotshot gets the invite to the event?" I asked, looking around so I can see what the hype is about.

"I guess so!" Alex murmured looking to my left and I turned around to see what he was talking about and my stomach dropped and I felt like puking my guts out at the scene unfolding in front of me.

"Some assholes never change." I gritted out the words, tears threatening to spill but I gulped them back not wanting to show him how he is affecting me and hurting me.

I was a fool to believe that he has changed for me and he feels the same for me at last but seeing him here today with the girl he said that he doesn't care is like a slap to my face and I have learned my lesson again not to believe Ezra Irwin. This text is property of Nô/velD/rama.Org.

"Why don't we go inside!" I held Alex's arm for the first time that evening and ignored everything around me. If he wants to flaunt someone in my face then I can do that too.

I was feeling guilty and angry at myself for agreeing for the date but it's the best thing I did because Ezra Irwin is showing his true colors and I'm not going to fall in his trap again.
