His Knees 5
Nathan sighed, visibly frustrated. "What more do you want? I promised to spend time with your son, and that's not enough for you? Are you still hung up on the idea of a wedding?" A wedding" Once, it had been my greatest hope, but now, I felt nothing but indifference. For years, the world knew Nathan was married, but
no one realized that the bride was me.
Everyone assumed Doris was his wife, while I was treated as the
outsider, the third party. Even at his company, rumors spread that
Oliver was the result of a one-night mistake, conceived when I supposedly got Nathan drunk.
I looked at Nathan, my voice steady and calm despite the storm inside
me. "No, Nathan. As you wish, from now on, Oliver and I will cut all ties with you."
He didn't deserve any part of us. Not anymore.
A hint of mockery flashed in Nathan's eyes. "Suddenly grown a backbone? Not begging me for time with your son anymore?"
Before I could respond, Sienna chimed in, feigning concern. "Sister,
you're an adult now, stop lying. If Oliver were really that sick, why
would you still be here? You're only dragging him down."
I couldn't take it anymore and snapped, "Shut up! You have no right to

talk about Oliver!"
Turning to Nathan, I spat, "And you, neither of you has any right!"
Sienna shrank behind Nathan, her face pale, while his expression darkened.
"No right?" His eyes gleamed dangerously as he pulled out his phone. He gave a command to his secretary, loud enough for me to hear, "Find out which hospital Doris' son is in. Tell the doctor to stop all treatment immediately." He said it deliberately, thinking it would make me break.
I let out a bitter laugh.
There was silence on the other end of the call before Nathan's voice turned cold. "Dead? How's that possible?"
He paused, then accused his secretary. "Reid, don't tell me you're joining Doris in lying to me now."
Nathan switched the phone to speaker mode, clearly expecting Reid to expose me. But instead, Reid's voice came through, "It's true,
President. The young master passed away two days ago."
Nathan froze, disbelief written all over his face. Shortly after, Reid sent him the hospital records, the death certificate, and the cemetery address.Belongs to (N)ôvel/Drama.Org.
Nathan stood there in shock, gripping his phone. "Why didn't you tell

me?" he finally asked, his voice almost a whisper.
"Tell you?" I echoed bitterly. "Do you really think I was the one hiding
it from you?"
