Chapter 888 Rufus' Promise to Stella
Chapter 888 Rufus' Promise to Stella
Monday mornings were busy for anyone. It seemed that the lethargy from the holidays had not worn off
and enthusiasm for work had not returned.
Unfortunately, it could not be escaped.
Stella came to the hospital early to bring her father food, and then stopped by to talk to Kevin about her
father's recovery from her illness.
When she returned from Kevin's office, her father and Paul had already finished eating breakfast.
"Have you all eaten, I'll bring you more next time."
Stella inquired, thinking that the meal she had brought had been eaten.
"No need to bring more, it is enough."
"Your father can't eat too much right now, so when his appetite improves, you can bring more."
Paul replied to Stella.
"Dad's in good shape today. It looks like he'll be home from the hospital soon."
"By the way, Paul, have you found a place for Dad to convalesce?"
Stella was happiest when she watched her dad get better and better every day. Her most urgent wish
was for her dad to get well soon and be happy and cheerful soon.
"Yes, we'll go straight there when your dad gets out of the hospital."
This matter was trivial to Paul, and he had it all ready the day after Isobel said so.
"It's such a rush, and Dad, you're pretty weak. It's better to stay home for a few more days before you
go out."
Stella did not agree her dad to leave the hospital right away, because she was worried.
"I'll stay in the hospital for a few more days, and I'll go straight to convalescence when I'm almost well."
Rufus replied, his voice already high-pitched and strong, and from it he could conclude that he was
recovering well.
"It is uncomfortable in the hospital, it's more relaxing to go home and get well."
Stella said in disbelief, no matter how good the hospital was, it was not as good as home, so why not
go home instead of recuperating in the hospital.
"I'm creating an opportunity for Brian. Winwin will leave when I go back home."
"It is a chance for Brian. I still want them to be together, so the kids won't have to suffer through this."
"Winwin is at home, picking up and dropping off the children every day, you can see how happy the
children are. So I will stay in the hospital longer."
Rufus was competent as a father, not forgetting to think of his son even though he was sick.
Watching the family of four come in and out together made Rufus feel relieved that he didn't have to
worry about anything.
"Oh, I did not realize that. But the hospital is not as good as home anyhow, so why don't you get out of
the hospital and go to my house?"
Stella was still uneasy, it was okay to create chance to Brian, but her dad was a patient and he should
be taken good care of.
That was why Stella offered to let her father go to her house, but Rufus refused.
"I can't go to your house. You're pregnant now, your in-laws take care of you wholeheartedly. If I go
there, I will cause trouble to your in-laws."
"Dad, you haven't recovered yet. Rushing to the convalescent is not good. Why don't you go to Exclusive © content by N(ô)ve/l/Drama.Org.
Grandpa's to recuperate?"
Stella insisted, afraid that her father will tear the wound while going back and forth in the airport, thus
bringing secondary damage.
"I'm not going to your grandfather's. Maria will bother me. Stella, don’t worry, the hospital has a escort
helicopter that can take me directly to the convalescent."
Rufus' purpose was to keep Winnie in the suburbs, once Rufus walked out of the hospital, no matter if
he went to Stella's house or to the old house, Winnie could guess what he was thinking.
Only if he stayed at the hospital all the time would Winnie have no reason to leave the suburbs, so she
would continue to be with Brian. With more chances to be together, he believed that his son could win
back Winnie's heart.
"Stella, there's something I must tell you, I'm going to send someone to find Isobel as soon as I get out
of the hospital. I must find her during my time in the convalescent."
Although Rufus didn't tell the truth, he had to get Stella ready for it.
Hearing the name Isobel, Stella was silent for a moment. Since she had already forgiven her father
intended to find Isobel.
"Dad, go get her. Live how you like from now on, I have no problem on it."
"But dad, can you tell me about you and mom? You keep saying that mom jumped off the building not
because of you, but give me a reason, you can't let me and Brian spend the rest of our lives thinking
about it."
When it came to Isobel, the past was mentioned, Stella just wanted to know the truth, and they had a
right to know.
She wished it had been made clear sooner, so no one had to guess and get through life confused.
Rufus sighed. He didn't know how to talk about it, once he said it out, there were more people and
things involved.
Things weren't as simple as Stella thought. If it was, why did he bother hiding it until now?
"Stella, right now you're not fit to hear about it since you're pregnant. How about this, when you give
birth to the baby, I will definitely tell you."
"Don’t ask and just trust me."
Rufus decided not to talk about it after moments of thinking, once their mother's matter was said, it
would be a fatal blow to Stella.
Since he’d been waiting for so many years, he did not mind waiting a little longer.
"Dad ......"
"Stella, listen to your father. If he says he will tell you, he will. The most important thing for you now is
to get well and get the baby healthy."
Just as Stella was about to get persistent, Paul interrupted Stella.
This was the first time Rufus said so. He had given Stella a deadline and he should be ready for it.
Speaking of the past, it could be more than just the suicide of their mother, but also the relationship
between Isobel and Winnie, as well as Vanessa.
Once all of this was said, whether or not Brian could bear it, Rufus needed to be ready.
"Okay, I'll wait."
Stella could do nothing but continue to wait. But she could hear that it was not trivial, or he could not be
afraid of hurting her.
Winnie thought that what Brian said the night before was a joke, but she didn't expect to really be
called by Brian to the office on Monday.
She hadn't been to the Bennet Group for a long time, and every time she came to it, she had to gather
enough courage to walk in.
But today was an exception, as she had just parked her car, Brian walked towards her.
Winnie was a bit baffled, wondering what Brian was doing out here.
Getting out of the car and locking it, Brian walked up to her as well.
"Why are you down here?"
Winnie thought there was something she needed to be aware of.
"I came down to get you in case you couldn't find my office."
Brian said frankly, he simply came down to pick up Winnie because he was afraid that some of the
employees would say something to make Winnie unbearable.
"Forget it, I can ask if I can’t find it."
"Let's go, Mr. Bennet."
Winnie couldn't describe what she was feeling at the moment, resisting what Brian had said, but having
no other choice.
Coming to his office, she felt an invisible pressure that pressed her to run away. Wanting to get away
from this place, she was timid and afraid.
Brian led Winnie all the way to the reception hall and straight to the president's exclusive elevator.
The gaze on her was really like a male lion, as if they were trying to eat Winnie alive. This kind of
pressure was unknown to Brian, but Winnie was etched in her bones.
A few minutes from the first floor to the 30th floor felt incredibly long to Winnie. Luckily she resisted the
pressure and finally reached Brian's office.
But when she arrived at Brian's office, she also had to be restrained and couldn't come and go as she
did before. Because her status had changed a long time ago, she was no longer the Winnie who had
special treatment.
Winnie sat on the sofa in a disciplined manner, waiting for Brian's plan case.
This place was familiar to her and now she had to sit here as an outsider. It was ridiculous to think of
that, how she had let things develop so awkwardly?
"This is the plan for that software development I was talking about, have a look."
Brian brought the document over from his own desk and placed it in front of Winnie.
Winnie looked at the document in silence, hesitating to accept it.
This was her last chance to consider whether to give up or accept.
If she were to give up, she would have to ask Finn to borrow money, but tens of millions of dollars was
indeed too much, not only would she be stressed, Finn would be stressed too, for it was his parents'
money.
However, accepting Brian's cooperation, she was afraid she would face more difficulties.
"What's on your mind, why don't you have a look?"
Brian reminded the dazed Winnie.
"I'm trying to decide whether or not to accept this partnership, and genuinely I don't want to work here."
"Do you want to explain to your grandfather first? I'm afraid he'll think I'm up to something."
Winnie's worry was reasonable, to Felix, she had always been a woman with a premeditated plan. So
the current cooperation would make Felix suspicious.
"I don't have to explain my business to him. I have decision-making right when he gave me this
company."
"Winnie, you don't have to worry. If you don't want to work here, you can take this job home with you
and just come to meetings when you need to."
Brian advised Winnie, if possible, the software was not needed, he could give Winnie the money.
"I can take it home?"
Winnie was surprised, because it was company's secret. According to the company's rules it, had to be
done in the company.
"Yes, you can go to my studio."
Brian affirmed once more.
"Well, then, I'll have a look."
Winnie agreed, such a condition would be quite satisfactory for her. And she would leave the problem
of Felix to Brian.
