Her Precious Baby

Chapter 258

Chapter 258

She looked as though she had lost her soul.

Evander knew that the secret couldn't be kept for long, and perhaps Angeline would no longer want to see him for the rest of her life when she learned the truth.

However, he did not expect Angeline to not cry or make a fuss. Her soulless look made his heart wrench.

“How long has she been like that?” Evander's deep voice was tinged with a touch of awkwardness.

Roger snatched the phone from him and replied unpleasantly. “Don't ask me. It's your own business, and I don't want to bother about the both of you anymore.”

Then, he turned around and left the office without saying another word.

Evander watched Roger leave with a dejected look.

Suddenly, the phone beside his hand beeped.

He picked it up and saw a short message from Valerie: If the media exposes your ambiguous photos with Angeline again before your wedding with Olivine, don't blame me for not showing Angeline any mercy.

It was a warning, and Evander knew Valerie meant it, as he had experienced her ruthless methods before.

Evander had loved a rabbit when he was a child and kept it in a grassy hut. He often escaped from school to tend to the rabbit, thus falling behind on his homework.

Later, after Valerie found out the truth, she turned the rabbit into a delicious meal.

Since then, he dared not keep a pet anymore.

As Evander thought of the past, a sense of weariness immediately surged in his heart and he held his forehead.

Angeline is definitely no match for Grandma, but I can't feel at ease when I see her like that.

“Mi\ Golding—”

Sylas pushed the door open and entered the office.

Evander reached for the suit coat on the chair and ordered with a grim expression, “Cancel any social events I have tonight. I've something to do and need to leave now.”

Sylas naturally knew that it had something to do with Angeline. He looked at Evander with a worried face and reminded. “Mr. Golding, please think it through. If the paparazzi take any more photos, your strategy against the Sherrock family will probably go in vain.”

Indeed. Valerie was not the only reason that made Evander so heartless. Everything he had done was to deal with the Sherrock family, too.

However, there was no way he could turn a blind eye to Angeline after watching the video.

Angeline shut herself off the whole afternoon without consuming anything. No one could do anything about it, not even Floretta.

In the evening, Roger rushed over with some pastries. As soon as he entered the house. Nancy asked, “How is it? Did you meet Evander?”

“Yes. I've already said what I had to say.” Roger's expression was solemn as he spoke.

Judging from the expression on the carefree man, Nancy could tell tilings had gone awry.

With a disappointed look on her face, she asked. “He still wants to cany on with the engagement with Olivine and doesn't even plan to spare Angeline another look, does he?”

Frustrated, Roger sat on the couch and had a drink before responding in a muffled voice, “Yeah. Evander doesn't even ask about Floretta now. It's too strange. Based on my analysis, the only possibility is that he was coerced by Old Mis. Golding.”

“So what? He gives up Angeline in the end. What a despicable couple they are!” Nancy couldn't help but curse Evander and Olivine angrily. Crossing her arms and looking worriedly at the tightly closed room door, she continued, “I've worked together with Angeline for so many years. I know how much she values relationships. I'm worried something will happen if she continues to be so obstinate.”

Roger pursed his lips. He was also at a loss for what to do. “We'll call the police as a last resort.”

“Damn you! What a terrible idea you have!” Nancy was so angry that she grabbed the orange on the table and threw it at Roger. “Have you forgotten that Evander has extensive connections to both sides of the law? You're bearding the lion in liis den.”

“That's tine.” Roger caught the orange and let out a long sigh.

While they were at their wits' end trying to figure out what else they could do, someone suddenly unlocked the door.

Soon, the door was opened, and a tall figure came into their sight.

“Can I come in?” Evander's deep voice rang out.

Nancy and Roger, who had already been dazzled by the scene, gradually returned to then senses.

Furrowing her brows, Nancy questioned, “Why do you have Angelinas house key?”

Evander walked into the house and replied coldly, “I'm her boyfriend. Isn't that normal?”

His tone and familiar movements as he entered the place caused Nancy's blood to boil. Text property © Nôvel(D)ra/ma.Org.

She couldn't care less about the man's identity anymore and mocked him, “Oh? So you're still aware of your relationship with Angeline, hull? But you've already made your engagement with another woman public behind her.”

Evander froze, and his face slightly darkened when he heard that.

“Enough, Nancy.” Roger tried to stop her despite liis admiration for her boldness.

However, Nancy could not care less about that. Evander's indifferent attitude at that moment reminded her of the listless Angeline, and she felt it was unfair to Angeline.

Infuriated, she said, “Some people may look decent, but in truth, he is nothing more than a jerk.”

Evander's expression turned increasingly grim, and he even shot Nancy a deadly glare.

Roger put his hand to liis forehead and sighed. Oh, no! We're doomed. No one has ever dared to scold Evander like this.

Just when he was about to go all out to protect Nancy, Evander's clear, cold voice rang out. “I know you hate me, but the most important tiling now is to stabilize Angelinas emotions.”

His words brought Nancy back to reality.

No matter how reluctant she was, she could only let Evander enter the house.

She thought the person Angeline wanted to see the most now was Evander. and Angeline needed an explanation from him more than anything else.

Evander deliberately went to ask Francesca for a bowl of oatmeal before carefully entering Angelinas room.

From every movement of his, anyone could tell he still had feelings for her.

Nancy and Roger shared a look and saw a hint of frustration in each other's eyes. They obviously love each other. Why do they have to end up like this?

Meanwhile, inside the room, Angeline felt dizzy, and her vision was blurry.

However, she could still vaguely hear a loud noise behind the door, followed by footsteps approaching the bedroom.

Click!

The door was gently pushed open.

Somewhat annoyed, Angeline said in a raspy voice, “I'm not eating. Go out and don't worry about me.”

Yet, she didn't hear any words of dissuasion but a series of steady footsteps.

Her thoughts were instantly disrupted, and she snapped back to her senses.

Almost instantly, she recognized who was inside the room, as no one else had such steady footsteps.

As she felt the man approaching her, a sense of aggravation immediately surged in her heart and made her nose sting.

“Angeline, are you okay?” Evander walked up to her and spoke in liis low voice caringly.

Hearing that, Angeline suddenly forgot all the questions that had filled her mind earlier. Am I okay? Not at all!

Not getting any response, Evander felt liis heart sink, and a glint of sorrow flashed across liis eyes.
