Chapter 38- Amara
Chapter 38- Amara
Looking at the shifters, I knew they heard his voice in the mind link.
“What do you mean?” I asked.
“Their leader is after you.” Ryder said out of no where in the link.
“Where are you Ryder?”
“You know where I am. We won’t be seeing each other till the problem is solved. We don’t think they
know about the spirit wolves. I can work as a back up if it comes to attacking those bastards. I will keep
an eye out for them and inform you if I find any of them lurking around.”
I wanted to ask about Xander but I knew I shouldn’t. I know I didn’t get to spend much time with him but
over the months I had talked to him in the link. He is my nephew after all and adorable to add the least.
“Thank you Alpha.” Leo said in the mind link.
“Stop calling me Alpha pup. We are brothers. You don’t need to be so formal with me Leo.” Ryder
replied shocking the hell out of me.
My brother is finally growing up.
“Sure Ryder.” Leo complied happily.
“Okay. Umm Ryder…”
“I miss you too.” I knew who that message was from. “After this is over I would like to meet your mate in
private.” This content © Nôv/elDr(a)m/a.Org.
I can hear the smirk in his voice. Leo snickered looking at Steven and the others followed suit. The
ones who are not connected to the mind link looked at us in confusion.
“Best of luck dude.” Stan told Steven who looked confused as hell.
“What are you guys on about?” he asked.
“Alpha Ryder wants to see you in private after this thing is over.” Caleb told him grinning.
Everyone except Austin and Steven started laughing.
“Who is that? Why are you guys laughing?” Austin asked.
“Ryder is my older brother.” I told them. Steven gulped in fear. “Oldest of my two wolf brothers.”
“And there are two?” he asked.
“Yup.” I said grinning.
“Where is the other one?” Austin asked.
“Right here.” Leo said waving his hand at them. His eyes were swirling with a hint of gold. I can tell that
Leo was partially in control. “Tyler the second oldest brother of your mate.”
Leo smirked maliciously at Steven.
“Enough Tyler.” I scolded him.
Leo’s lips puckered in a pout and the golden mist in his eyes disappeared.
“This is not over princess. I will get a one on one with your mate and Tyler will be with me.” Ryder said
cackling like the wicked witch of the west.
Leo smirked at me, the golden mist back in his eyes. I groaned in irritation. I so want to hurl something
at these two. Especially Ryder. He is just egging Tyler on into becoming a over possessive prick.
“Okay back to business.” Leo started. “Amy you can’t go to Esterden or back to your college till we are
sure the threat is gone.” I nodded. “We don’t know why they want you but we are sure it can’t be good.”
Steven pulled me closer possessively. “Now whoever is not willing to fight, please raise your hand. It
won’t be counted against you.”
Nobody raised their hands. I am quite overwhelmed at their gesture.
“Thanks guys.” I said to them gratefully.
“You are a part of the pack. It’s no big deal.” Caleb said shrugging.
“It’s settled then. Ryder will keep an eye on the forests for us and we will rest up and be ready for the
attack. They won’t succeed in taking Amy.” Leo declared.
We cheered a little but Cassidy’s shrill voice interrupted us.
“Do you have any idea what a spirit walker is?” she asked looking at us madly. “The last one was seen
thousands of years ago. They were thought to be a myth. That spirit walker was being hunted for her
abilities but she disappeared and no one has heard of them being alive since then. They are always
only one at a time. Those vampires won’t be the last ones to come here for her. We need to hide her
and kill everyone of those vampires that know about her. She was not supposed to come in the open.”
The front door opened and a lady walked in.
“Off course she wasn’t.” the lady said. “The witch is right. The people who know about Amara’s abilities
must be destroyed.”
We were shocked. Where the hell did she come from? A man followed her inside and shut the door
behind him.
“We have been hunted for our powers for so long that we had to live in secrecy but I let Amara run
free.” She started.
“Mom what the hell?” Alec shouted at our mother.
Her aura was changed from the sweet mother to a lady with power. I looked at my father but he was
avoiding my eyes.
“Let me finish son.” She scolded him. “As I was saying. I let her run free after I realized she is my heir.
Why? Well she was just a baby then. Barely a month old and so tiny. I thought I will wait till you grow
older and then I will tell you. The summer when you turned ten, I was going to tell you everything after
you came back but things had already went out of hands.” Yeah papa had accepted me in the pack. “I
didn’t confront you then. Now you belonged to a pack. But we spirit walkers don’t belong anywhere. I
thought maybe your fate will be different and I let you carve your own path. But no, your mate betrayed
you as well.” She said bitterly. Wait. As well? “The curse of a spirit walker. Our mate will always chose
someone else over us. It took me over two hundred years to find my second chance but you are lucky.
You found him right after your mate left you.”
I was confused at this point. Where are we going from here? I am not even her real daughter. Two
hundred years? Exactly how old is she?
“Mom I don’t understand. How can I be your heir? I am not even your real daughter. How is that even
possible?” I asked.
“In our world, it’s never about blood but soul.” She replied smiling at me. “Tabula rasa anima.”
“Clean slate soul.” Cassidy mumbled. “I thought it was a myth.”
“Yes a clean soul. You were born with one. I knew as soon as I took you in my arms.” Mom said looking
fondly at me.
“But mom how?” I asked.
“Do you trust every single person in this room?” she asked seriously.
“Yes.” I said firmly.
“Do they know how the spirit wolves reproduce?”
“No. That’s not my secret to share.”
“We don’t need to know that. She told us enough.” Leo interjected.
I am really thankful for that. They really think of me as one of their own. I was getting paranoid for no
apparent reason.
“Didn’t this witch attack you?” she spat glaring at Cassidy.
“It was a misunderstanding mom. It’s okay. Cass gets carried away sometimes.” I told her giggling.
Where the hell did my mother’s bubbly personality go?
