Chapter 931
Andy's car suddenly kicked into high gear, taking an impossibly sharp angle as he zipped across the curve, overtaking Karl with ease! A moment ago, he was trailing behind, but now he was in the lead, speeding ahead like a rocket! The whole thing happened in less than two seconds! The crowd barely caught a glimpse of how he pulled it off.
"No way..." Karl was closest to Andy and saw the whole move unfold. His eyes widened in sheer disbelief, a storm of emotions churning inside him. He was so fixated on Andy's car that he completely forgot about his own.
"Karl! What are you doing? Focus on the road!" shouted someone, almost roaring him back to reality. But by the time Karl snapped out of it and tried to regain control, it was too late. His car veered off the track and slammed into the barrier!
The crowd was stunned into silence. No one saw this coming. The Jones family had lost-lost in spectacular fashion. For a racer to flip off the track like that was unheard of.
Up in the stands, Joe was just as surprised. He'd seen Andy a few months back and, back then, Andy was just decent. Now, he was a whole different beast. He glanced over at the Reyes team, trying to spot that familiar figure, but the distance made it impossible. "It's time to announce the results," he said, tapping his finger to signal the referee.
With Karl out of the race, there was no need to continue. The referee, still taken aback by what he'd witnessed, quickly announced, "Round one goes to Andy from the Reyes team!"
Cheers erupted from the Reyes side. This is property © of NôvelDrama.Org.
"Andy rocks!" they shouted, reveling in their unexpected victory. Even Carter's face turned beet red with excitement. He never thought they'd actually win!
Flora, lounging with her chin resting on her hand, had a subtle smile in her eyes as she watched. Meanwhite, Andy heard the
announcement and took a moment to process it. He quickly pulled over and hopped out of his car, spotting Karl, who was just getting up from his fall.
Realizing what had happened, Andy felt a rush of satisfaction. He walked over to Karl, who was sporting quite the collection of bruises, and even Andy, usually the quiet type, couldn't resist a jab: "Tough luck, kid. Today just wasn't your day."
"Yeah! That Jones kid was all high and mighty, but look at him now!" Adrian and the others joined in, laughing loudly. "If I were him, I'd be too embarrassed to show my face." "Go crash into a block of tofu!" someone jeered.
"Well, he's from the Jones family, after all. They've got the thickest skin in town. This is just another Tuesday for them."
"You... you all!" Karl spluttered, all traces of his earlier cockiness gone, his face a mix of embarrassment and rage. He still hadn't figured out how he'd lost.
Unable to face the ridicule, he slunk back to the Jones camp, where everyone wore expressions of utter humiliation. They had never been so thoroughly embarrassed.
