Denied by Destiny: Trapped in the Shadows of the Mate Bond

Chapter 136

Hector POV

We are afforded warriors from the Nightshade Reformed pack to join us in our journey to the Shadow Rock pack lands. But I only leave Beckett's borders when I feel the pack link connection with my Beta Ezra grow in strength.

He was close by and would almost be with Kaia. If he, my most trusted of men, wasn't on his way there.... wouldn't have left.

The plan was for Beckett and Alora to go into surgery while I offered a smokescreen in offering my services to help with negotiations.

Marc would have no idea what Kaia is to me, and it gave us time to play with. I've never had such clarity in my mind, I knew what I had to do. My mind thinking clearly for the first time in years, Kala is mine, mine to protect.

Our entrance into the Shadow Rock pack is with an armed escort, which isn't wholly unsurprising as we did turn on his men and Marc himself. But what I wasn't expecting was the alliance council leaders standing outside the alpha tower with faces of thunder. The prick had sought out the council for support.

Exiting the car, we are marched into the tower block taking the stairs option this time, I didn't fancy being in a lift surrounded by potential assassins.

This time we aren't escorted into Alpha Marc's office but instead a different floor with a large meeting room. The room looked like some kind of court room with a line of tables and chairs in a semi circle format..with, surprise surprise, Marc sat in the very middle, elevated above the other positions.

The pack King on top of his tower, the council leaders his dirty little rascals. Well, he underestimates my influence amongst the council.

"You've got some nerve, re-entering my pack grounds after what you pulled." He snarls at Jude and I prematurely, before the door has even closed.

"You had no authority to attack the Nightshade Reformed pack." Jude addresses Marc as he steps in front of me, the council members taking their seats, judgmental eyes gazing upon us.

I don't believe it...we were at a hearing...our hearing.This content is © NôvelDrama.Org.

This was absolute bullshit. Jude and I were the ones being treated as if we abused our positions within the alliance, whereas, Marc was the one that attacked them for his own gain.

"This is bullshit!" I growl out as Jude had spent the last few hours trying to explain why he took out Marc's fighters. We had gone round in circles.

"Alpha Hector may I remind you..." One of the council leaders starts but I cut him off. I was buying time but their lack of intelligence was frustrating me.

"He attacked the Nightshade Reformed pack without authority, a pack that had been successful in their peace negotiations with local packs. Alpha Marc attacked for personal gain, wanting the Alpha's daughter for his mate." I slam the desk before me, before standing up to gain their full attention. Their constant

The plan was for Beckett and Alora to go into surgery while I offered a smokescreen in offering my services to help with negotiations.

Marc would have no idea what Kaia is to me, and it gave us time to play with. I've never had such clarity in my mind, 1 knew what I had to do. My mind thinking clearly for the first time in years, Kaia is mine, mine to protect.

The pack King on top of his tower, the council leaders his dirty little rascals. Well, he underestimates my influence amongst the council,

"He attacked the Nightshade Reformed pack without authority, a pack that had been successful in their peace negotiations with local packs. Alpha Marc attacked for personal gain, wanting the Alpha's daughter for his mate." I slam the desk before me, before standing up to gain their full attention. Their constant

mumbling amongst themselves meaning not all will have heard.

"Alpha Hector will you sit down!" The same council member shouts out at me, trying to gain back some level of authority.

"Why would Alpha Marc attack his mate's pack?" Zederick, one of my council contacts asks.

"She isn't his mate." I growl out looking Marc directly in the eyes.

"Marriage negotiations aren't a council matter." Zederick states loudly.

"Exactly so let's get back on the topic of why my men are dead..." Marc growls, things weren't going as smoothly as he hoped.

"Did you launch the attack because the alpha refused his daughter..." Zederick reaches behind, his associate or for a better word Beta, handing him information.

1 launched the attack because they have settled, without permission, on sacred land. These are rogues.... don't want rogues on my doorstep."

"Then Alpha Hector and Alpha Jude were right to defend the pack in question. You attacked out of prejudice." A smile forms on my lips as Marc is openly called out.

"I attacked to protect my people, how would you like rogues living next door...."

"Let's get the other pack alpha's here, the ones that have entered a peace treaty deal. It could be the new pack might benefit from joining the alliance, we all have a role to play in supporting rogues that want a second chance." Zederick suggests, the board nodding in agreement.

""Fine for

r you to say when it is happening a 100 miles away from your pack." Marc's temper and frustration was getting the better of him.

Which was working wonders for Jude and I. The more pack alphas that attended this hearing, the longer it would take and would give Alora longer for the operation and her recovery.

"The daughter, she is the acting luna?"

"Yes." I answer the board of council leaders.

"What's so special about her then, if she is a resettled rogue herself Alpha Marc...why the interest in her." Zederick pulls her picture out of the file of documents, my breath catching in the back of my throat for her being identified among these power hungry men. Marc's eyes dart to me, a smirk forming in the corner of his mouth. He won't want the board to know a white wolf exists and I don't want them to know either

We are at stalemate, and he knows it.

They will demand that she attends before them, something that I would prevent from happening by any

means.

The power playing continues with us getting no closer to the council making a decision.

was ready to remain here for as long as necessary, to be that smokescreen but something starts to change within me.

Something forms in the depths of my stomach that only strengthens...to the point that I have to sit back down.

My hand going to my chest that was burning. Was I having a heart attack?

Then I feel it, the surge of the mate bond...

"You can't leave, after him!" Someone roars as I head to the door, abandoning the room full of council leaders.

I don't look back but I can feel Jude on my six, following me as I take the stairs 2 at a time desperate to reach Kaia.

Something had happened, something to strengthen my mate connection to her.
