Chapter 116
Aaron smiled at Clarence as she played with her blocks on the conference room table. Aaron had been working for Kylan as the head of the Technology Department, along with Harry and the other friends they had. He had come back from having time off to support Maine
during her last month of pregnancy and delivery.
Now that Maine had given to a wonderful boy, he was happy to be back, but it meant he couldn't see his son and niece as much as he wanted anymore. Speaking of his niece, Aaron thought that her daughter was the greatest baby girl in the world, and that she was the most beautiful too. He couldn't wait to be a dad before and now, he couldn't wait to come home and be a dad for real.
Katrina picked up a block from the floor that Clarence knocked off, then handed it back to him. "So, are you looking forward to being back?"
Aaron nodded. "Yes actually, but I'm going to miss being Clarence's babysitter."
Katrina ruffled Clarence's hair. "I know, but we'll manage without you, don't worry. Just means she has to spend more time with me."
Clarence smiled at Katrina. "Mommy."
Katrina chuckled and kissed her forehead. Clarence had learned new words now and switched from Mama to Mommy ever since she learned the word. "Love you."
"Love Mommy."
Aaron remembered something. "Oh, I get to meet Isabella today. What is she like?"
Katrina hummed. "Nice, friendly, and sweet. I like her. I took care of her when she was sick. She should be back today."
Aaron laughed. "Oh, that is so like you to take care of someone. You're such a mom."
Katrina stuck her tongue out at him. "Stupid brother."
"Idiot sister."
Clarence stopped playing with her blocks, then whimpered and welled up. Katrina looked at her, alarmed. She picked her up, moved her to her lap, and hugged her. "Shh, it's okay, Honey. Uncle Aaron is being a mean silly man." Clarence smiled and giggled. "Silly."
Katrina nodded. "That's right."
She hugged Katrina tightly. "Love Mommy."
Katrina rubbed her back. "Love you too sweetie. I love you so, so much." Katrina kissed her head and rocked her. "Sorry, Aaron, she's not one for play fighting yet. She just hears a bad tone in people's voices and thinks bad things are happening." Aaron smiled. "Bless her, I'm guessing you and Kylan don't raise your voices then."
Katrina shook her head. "Nope, in fact, I don't think Kylan and I ever have shouted at each other."
"Impressive."
Katrina bounced Clarence a little on her lap. "Really?" "Yeah."
Katrina blushed a little. She didn't think it was that impressive, but maybe most couples weren't like her and Kylan. Then again, most men weren't like Kylan. Kylan was one of a kind, out of every man Katrina'd ever dated, no one came close to him.
Kylan to Katrina was perfect. He was very focused on his work, Katrina, and his daughter. She was sure, that Kylan would never in a million years do anything to hurt her or others, but that didn't mean she had no worries. Because of his past, her heart still did little palpitations whenever a woman got close to Kylan and flirted with him. Katrina knew he'd never, but there was damage from the past. It was hard to explain, but Katrina thought maybe it was her lack of confidence in herself that might have fuelled it a little. Katrina leaned down and kissed Clarence's cheek in thought. Even if Kylan did cheat and it ended in divorce, she was sure as hell going to get the main custody of her daughter, but she'd never deny Kylan from seeing him. She knew Clarence was Kylan's world. He was the one who brought up having kids first before Katrina. He was the one that was the most excited about planning to have kids. Katrina wanted kids, she really did, but Kylan was on a different level of wanting them.
He said it was mainly because the kids were cute and because he wanted mini versions of Katrina running around. He also said because Katrina was cute, she and he would make super cute babies. He wasn't wrong though, Katrina and he made a super cute baby. Though, she was sure there was highly likely no chance of her and Kylan having a divorce, or him cheating.
While Katrina was busy talking to her childhood friend and playing with Clarence, Isabella was busy working with Kylan and feeling her heart flutter. She'd only been away from him for four days of being sick, but she was back to square one almost with her reactions to him. She'd also noticed Kylan was in a chipper mood, more than he was before. She was hoping because she was better at her job, faster, and that she was back.
However, Kylan was in a good mood because he was no longer late from work now, he was coming home on time and spending that time with Clarence and Katrina. He was able to play with his daughter before dinner, bathe her, then put her to bed. After Clarence was in bed, he was then able to spend some personal time with Katrina including dinner, a bath together, cuddling, kissing, and some more physical things almost every night. Plus, every morning they would make out and fool around, so now his mornings started with making love to Katrina, so he was always in a good mood.
Isabella smiled and giggled, she was trying her best to control her emotions, but it was hard to be around a man like Kylan. There was only a small amount of her that felt bad about this because she could remember the motherly Katrina treating her and looking after her when she was sick. Katrina was so kind and caring, but Isabella couldn't help but think that maybe, just maybe her kindness might have been suspicious. No one could be that nice and sweet. She had to be doing it because she was two faced.
Isabella was wrong in her thinking though. Katrina was just a nice person and one of the reasons why Kylan loved her so much and all her friends liked Katrina. She wasn't the type of person to stab someone in the back.
She cleared her throat. "Oh, so umm... Aaron is here and needs a welcome back to work meeting."
Kylan raised a brow. "Tch, Aaron's back huh? That twerp."
Isabella frowned. "Something wrong? Do you not like him?"
Kylan sighed and ruffled his hair. "I don't mean it, he's almost my brother-in-law." He sighed and walked with Isabella to the lift. "He's a good guy, great to work with but very protective of his little "sister." He smirked a little. "I for one though rather enjoy touching his little sister, so you can understand why we butt heads sometimes. He loves my daughter, but hates the fact I got his sister pregnant because it meant one thing."
She gulped and blushed as she thought about having sex with Kylan, after all, she did see his package last month as he changed. She could just imagine he was good, really good. The kind of man who doted on Katrina, but got rougher as he was filled with passion. She nodded when she realized, she hadn't said anything yet. "I-I guess so."
"How are you?" He noticed her blushing more and staring at him with wide eyes. "What I meant was, your boyfriend left you and after a week or so you were then sick. I'm not a sensitive man, nor do I notice much about others, but even I know it's rather rough." She forgot about the fake boyfriend and break-up. "Oh, yeah I guess, but I'm okay. I mean, I'm healthy with a great job and an amazing boss."
Kylan hummed. "I'm not amazing, but thank you." He stepped out of the lift and walked down the hall with Isabella at his side. He glanced over at her and noticed what she was wearing, Kylan wasn't one for complimenting people, plus to him, she looked okay like normal, but Katrina had told to him before she came back asking him to be a little nicer and sweeter to her.
He decided to cheer her up as she had a rough time of what had happened to her, so he thought he'd lift her spirits. "You look good today, by the way, so don't let your ex get you down. As I said before, any man would be lucky to be with you. You're decent, and today that umm...that color looks good. Green is a color I like."
Isabella smiled to herself because Kylan was a fan of what she was wearing. She wore green for a reason because she knew Kylan liked it. She felt better about all of this, about flirting with Kylan and trying to be with him. By Kylan's words to her, he clearly had a thing for her. So, to her, he was falling for her as fast as she was falling for him. She smiled at Kylan. "Thank you."
Kylan opened the conference room door, then felt his heart flutter when he saw Katrina bouncing Clarence on her lap. He wasn't expecting Katrina in today, but seeing her made him really happy. "Is Clarence holding a meeting?"
Clarence looked to Kylan, then clapped her little hands. "Daddy."
""Hey, Sunshine."
Katrina pointed at Aaron. "Aaron is in. You should talk to him about coming back. I came in to keep him company, he asked me to come in with him. Dad had already gone back to Portland, so I had to bring in my little man with me too." Katrina tickled Clarence making her giggle. "Right, sweetie?"
Clarence laughed. "Mommyyyy."
Katrina peppered his cheeks with kisses. "We should go. We have our play dates and lunch to have." Katrina sat Clarence on the table, then packed her bag full of Clarence's toys. "Might go to the park, do you want to go to the park, Clarence?" She clapped her hands. "Pwease."Content from NôvelDr(a)ma.Org.
Katrina smiled. "You want to walk or be carried?"
She lifted her arms up. "Mommy."
Katrina picked her up and held her on her hip. "Right, well I will see all of you." Katrina walked over to Isabella. "You look great. Nice dress, Isabella. I'm glad you're all better. It was fun having my old job back, but God, did I get bored." Katrina giggled. "Oh, and sorry if things were moved about, I did things differently and umm Clarence got her hands on some things."
She clenched her jaw a little because she didn't like how Katrina was talking to her. In her twisted mind, Katrina was looking down on her, just because she had now promoted herself from being a boring assistant to Kylan's wife.
But in reality, Katrina was being nice and considerate. She also meant the boredom thing as a joking jab at Kylan.
She gave Katrina a strained smile. "It's fine."
Katrina frowned a little at her cold
words, because she of all people knew 'I'm fine didn't mean what the person said. Plus, her tone was a little off, she just thought maybe it might be because she's just recovered from the flu. Katrina smiled at her. "Oh, well alright then. Call me if you need help, or I've messed things up too much." Katrina walked up to Kylan. "I'm
heading out, see you."
He held her chin, pulled her close, and kissed her. "Hmm...miss you already. Call me if you need me at all, I'm always one call away." He ruffled Clarence's hair, then kissed her little cheek. "I love you both." Clarence reached for Kylan, so he bent down and let his daughter kiss his cheek. "Love Daddy."
Katrina smiled. "We both love you. See you soon." Katrina looked down at Clarence. "Come on kiddo, playtime."
Kylan watched her walk out singing
to Clarence with smiles on both their faces. He felt his heart flutter. He really loved them both with
.n
everything he had. He let out a long sigh, then looked to Aaron. He loved Aaron; he really did because his protectiveness of Katrina was a lot like his own. Kylan just liked messing with Aaron, because he saw him like a brother. Aaron was the same, he messed with Kylan because he was like a brother. Both of them drove Katrina up the wall when they went at it. However, she did love how lively it made the house. Kylan liked it too, he liked Aaron a lot, and he had come to like the play fights.
He sat down and sighed. "Alright, Aaron, let's get you updated on what's happened since you've been gone." He wrote down on his papers. "How was your holiday with your wife?"
Aaron smirked. "Fun. We spent a lot of time together and I got to see the little bundle of joy."
"Good." He went through the papers. A little smile played on his lips as he remembered how excited and nervous he was when Katrina was in labor and delivered Clarence to the world. "Harry had given his all in the Tech department but he was not as meticulous as you." He tapped his pen on his papers. "Did you leave a helper for Maine?" Aaron blushed. "She said she can handle it by herself. Katrina also said she'll visit her once in a while to help her."
"Tch, sure." Kylan updated Aaron on the deals and changes that'd been made, the new people involved, and what he wanted Aaron to work on.
Isabella admired Kylan as he
worked. Aaron noticed it because Aaron was always good at observation. He noticed how her
touches lingered, how she angledet
herself towards Kylan. She also laughed at him, smiled, and made sure she touched him whenever she could. To Aaron, she was clearly flirting and Kylan was oblivious. If Kylan did, he probably thought it was
nothing at all, because, to him, he
wasn't worth the time.
She leaned closer to him. "We have a lot of work to do Kylan, it might mean you will be late home."
Aaron couldn't let that happen. Though he wasn't keen on Kylan having sex with Katrina, he knew Katrina loved Kylan and wanted the love and attention from Kylan.
He smiled. "You know what? Send me some of that paperwork. I can get it done."
Kylan's eyes widened. "You sure?"
"Yeah, I mean you need to get home to your wife and daughter. You need to be there, so late nights aren't good."
Kylan sighed. He was really thankful for Aaron. "Great, thanks, Aaron."
"What are brothers for?"
Isabella wasn't happy. She wanted Kylan to be around her a little longer. She's missed out on four days without him, so she needed her dose of Kylan Ross. "Kylan, you need to do this work. It can't be given to someone else." Kylan wrote in his notes. "I know you haven't met Aaron yet, but he is very capable of work, just like Ryan. Thank you, Aaron, for taking on the workload, I will give you some."
Aaron smiled because he saw Isabella was a little annoyed. "Also, I think Ryan and Harry could help."
Kylan nodded. "Great suggestion. I will spread the workload out to the heads of the department. Alright, we'll wait in the conference room. Isabella, call all heads of the departments. I want to have a meeting with them." Isabella had to close her eyes and walk away in a sour mood. As she called the heads, something caught her eye. She looked down at her calendar and saw it had been changed. She gripped the telephone handle as she glared at it. Katrina changed her calendar and scheduled everything without Kylan working overtime. It meant him not working so much with her.
Her hatred for Katrina mounted. She clearly made it clear that Isabella would not have Kylan as much as she wanted him. Isabella put down the telephone and picked up her desk calendar, devising how to bring back all those schedules she did for Kylan Ross. "Oh, look at that."
