Billionaire’s 8
Davin’s forehead furrowed, perhaps seeing the tears in my eyes. I quickly wiped them away and smiled at him. He was still in his tailored suit and rie.
“You are here, we need to talk about something” I replied, not wanting any lingering awkwardness.
“Did something happen to you?” he asked. “I’ve been knocking for a while, I thought you weren’t here”
Was I seeing concern in his eyes!
“Ubh… I was with the personal maid in another room, helping me set up my art stuff, I explained.
Maybe I am misunderstanding it.
1 sec. did Dayna do something that upse
upset you?” he inquired, his brows furrowing even deeper.
I shook my head and lied, I just had something in my eye earlier. Why are you here?”
“The doctor told me about the schedule. It’s in the second week, on the 27th, in the morning,” he replied. “What are we going to talk about!”
“Can we talk outside?”
“Why not here?”
“Nah, it’s better if we talk outside,” I said, and he remained there, waiting for my reply.
He was a very serious person “Regarding the personal maid. Can we talk outside!” I finally admitted, glancing in the direction of the door to check
if the maid was eavesdropping on our conversation. I had no idea she might be listening in.
I thought he might refuse, but in the end, he just nodded and walked out first.
When we were outside, I closed the door.
“About the personal maid, I didn’t ask for her, 1 began. “I don’t need her.”
“Is that all?” he asked, furrowing his brow. Didn’t he hear me?
“Yes, I don’t need a personal maid”
“She needs a job, and there’s nothing else I could give her. You can fire her, he said, raising an eyebrow
“Fire her!” I whispered, surprised.
“Yes. You don’t need her, right? That’s the only job I could offer her. It’s up to you have any complaints or anything you’d like to change in your room?
Then I’m fine with it,” he said, glancing at his watch. “Don’t you
I thought about Dayna, feeling sorry for her since she hadn’t done anything wrong. It seemed like she needed that job.
“No,” I replied, biting my lower lip as I glanced to my left
“Okay. Once the ICSI is successful, the doctor will visit you here once a week if it’s really successful,” he informed me, glancing at his watch again before looking at me. “Is there anything else you need!”
Inodded
“Good, then I’ll go, If you need anything, just don’t hesitate to tell Elle,” he said and started to walk away
“Wait, Davin!” I called out to him, causing him to stop and face me
“What?”
I sighed and told him. “I won’t fire her. She’ll stay, but what she’ll be doing is up to me.
“She’s your personal maid. Whatever you’ll do to her, I don’t care, he said in a solemn voice. “Is that all
“Yes, I replied
simply
id and I left.
4.10 PM
I watched him descend the stairs until he disappeared from my sight
I returned inside and cow Dayna had opened the closed window, allowing me to see the setting sun in the distance.
She faced me and smiled, saying, “Ma’am, do you have any tasks for me?”
“None, I’ll call you
u when I need you,” I said, “Thank you,”
“Okay, Maam.”
After Dayna left, arranged my things in the drawer before calling Zera.
“Hello, Sis Lill” she said in an enthusiastic voice
“How’s my mother, Zera!”
The next morning. I had breakfast alone. Last night, I didn’t join Cassa and Davin, and I didn’t even know where Cassa was. If I were to ask the maid I knew had information, they wouldn’t tell me.
The mansion is huge, so while I was walking after eating to go to the library, I ended up at a door, thinking it was the library. Instead, a room full of books with a desk and an open laptop in front of it greeted me.
1 entered inside while looking around, then paused near the half–open door
“It seems this isn’t the library,”
I was about to leave when the half–open door swung open, and Davin emerged, holding a half–smoked cigarette in one hand and putting his phone in his pants pocket with the other. He was still in the tailored brown suit, and his hair was slightly damp
I was surprised, and our gazes met. He furrowed his brow and asked, “Why are you here! Did you want something!” He walked towards his desk. tapped the cigarette into the ashtray, and disposed of it in the garbage next to the table.
“Oh, 1–I thought this was the library,” I stammered.
“So, you’re here. Have you finished breakfast! Lasked.
He closed his laptop before turning his gaze to me. The library is in the other wing. I had already finished my breakfast when I came here. Is that all you needed!” He stared at me, waiting,
“Yes,” I replied quickly. “To the left wing, right? I’ll leave now!
“You should have asked your personal maid for directions, he remarked.
I turned to go, and he remained seated at his desk, retrieving a file from under the table.
“She’s busy,” I explained, though in truth, Dayna was occupied with something else – she was learning how to paint. I didn’t want to disturb her, and I could see how excited she was.
I had learned that Dayna had been living alone since she turned 18, leaving the orphanage to live on her own. It was Elle, Dayna’s aunt, who suggested that Dayna try working here. For whatever reason Elle had given to Davin, he agreed, but only for Dayna to be a personal maid since there were no vacancies inside the mansion.
“I see.” he said briefly and opened the document without even looking at me.
“I’ll take my leave,” I said, and I was about to open the door, but something crossed my mind. I turned to face him, noticing that he had averted his gaze and returned to his open file.
“Thave a question,” I said
“You are just asking, tell me, he replied, sounding bored. Exclusive content © by Nô(v)el/Dr/ama.Org.
“Has Cassa left?” I inquired.
Several seconds passed before he answered, “Yeu
“Ah, I see. When did she leave? She mentioned we were going to watch a movie last night, but she didn’t join us for dinner, I explained
“You don’t need to k
know that. D
Don’t get close to l
her or anyone in my family.”
His words hurt one. I was just asking a question. Without saying anything further, I left without bidding him Carewell.
I wasn’t trying to get close to anyone. In fact, it was Cassa who initiated being close to me. Well, he was right; I wasn’t part of this family to form relationships with anyone related to him. I’m just a surrogate.
“His so annoying I muttered under my breathed.
I retraced my steps until I reached the large living room. I was bored and didn’t know where the left wing was or where the library was located. I wasn’t used to doing nothing or being idle. During this time, I was busy fulfilling client requests
I sighed and sat down on the couch, exhausted from wandering around this mansion. There were maids cleaning the living room, and I noticed some of them casting glances at me and whispering. So, I decided to return to my room
“Miss! Look at what I made, what do you
you think?” Dayna asked me as she entered.
She handed me a canvas with a butterfly she had painted on it. It wasn’t perfect, but it was quite nice. “You are good at this, I commented. “With more learning and practice, it’ll be perfect.”
Her face lit up, and she grew visibly excited. “Really?” she said in disbelief.
“Of course,” I replied with a nod. “You are good at this. Have you ever thought about going to college!*
“I don’t have a plan for that, Miss. All I need is a job, shelter, clothing, and food, she said, smiling-
“Do you have
any
tasks for me!”
Join me in the library later; I’ll take a shower first,” I said and went to the room where I kept my art supplies. “Okay, Miss!” she said enthusiastically.
Dayna followed me, and I hung her painting on the wall
“Why are you placing it there, Miss? It doesn’t fit with what you’ve done,” she said, feeling embarrassed
“It’s pretty, and it should be here. Write your name on it, I replied. Tll take a bath first.
1 left her inside.
I was going to the bathroom when my phone rang on th
the nightstand.
“It’s from Steven. He’s coming here tomorrow to vis
to visit me and talk about how my Papa’s case is going. A smile crossed my lips.
I replied to his text before taking a shower.
