Billionaire’s second wife

Chapter 37: Unpleasant situation

“Dante. Sorry to keep you waiting.” Cara’s voice caught the three’s attention. Once again Alden felt lucky that Cara had arrived in time. It can be said that Cara has just saved Alden’s life.

Dante smiled at Cara – who was sitting in a wheelchair, gradually pushing the car closer to the sofa.

“It’s okay, Cara.” Dante said cheerfully, “We hadn’t said much before you came.”

Cara smiled softly, making no comment. Cara then joined the conversation with the other three. In fact, she just answered politely, but she didn’t know what to say. Cara was not used to this type of conversation. Everyone looks strained.

At this point, Lily kept her eyes on Alden, and Dante – her brother fixed her eyes on Cara – purposely lowered his head to avoid Dante’s gaze.

The red-haired girl almost pressed against Alden’s lap. She’s trying to figure out how much Alden cares about Cara and vice versa. And her actions are seen as probing Cara’s reaction. Lily didn’t like Cara from the first time she saw Cara. But Lily was never bothered or worried by Cara’s presence. To her, Cara is not a threat. But now, Lily is concerned that Cara is attracting Alden’s attention. Because Cara is in the same house as Alden, she gets to see Alden every day.

Strangely enough, the silence continued even though Cara had come to join. It seems that no one is really looking forward to this conversation. Everyone takes time to think privately, rather than caring about those around them.

“So, Cara.” Lily broke the silence as she spoke up. She even caught Cara’s attention with a fake smile: “How long does your treatment last?”

“About a year, or faster. Dr. Keva says the first six months are critical, determining how successful the trauma treatment is.” Asked Cara to politely respond, she looked at Lily and smiled softly.

“And how do you do it? I’m sure it’s going to be difficult.” Lily asked again, out of curiosity, not genuine interest.

“Keva will help me.” Cara said: “In the treatment.”

“Why are you here?” Lily asked bluntly, making the listener a little displeased. Looks like Lily is having bad intentions toward Cara.

Is afraid people will doubt him, especially Alden will judge him badly. Lily quickly gave an explanation:

“I mean you should have been in the hospital. It’s more convenient to be in the hospital.”

“That…” Cara was choosing her words to respond to Lily’s well-intentioned curiosity when Alden interrupted.

“She is here at my mother’s request. The treatment at home will be comfortable, making the recovery faster and more effective.”

It was a surprise when Alden answered for Cara. Should Cara be touched and grateful to Alden? And does Alden know that Cara is looking at him with typical confusion? Why is Alden acting so strange today? Different from usual. What should I say? Since Cara was here, Alden has never wanted to talk to Cara, even though she tried to talk to Alden. But each time, Cara could not finish the sentence, Alden asked Cara to keep a distance from him, and not to talk to him. Cara did as requested, so no one in this house caught Cara and Alden talking. They don’t even appear together in the same space.

“It turned out that your mother took her home,” Lily exclaimed, a little surprised. In her heart, she never thought that Alden would give such a clever answer. Push it to Mrs. Agatha and consider it done. No one dared to reason or judge the former judge’s actions and deeds.

“That’s right. It’s thanks to your lady’s kindness that I can stay here.” This time Cara answered. She is truly grateful to Helen’s family.

“And how long will you stay here?”

Lily probed further. She won’t waste time-fighting Cara. Lily knew Cara wasn’t Alden’s type. But in life, no one expected anything. The fire near the straw will burn for a long time. Lily is also concerned about Alden’s proximity to Cara. From unfamiliar to familiar. From not being close to being close and attached.

“Probably until I recover,” Cara answered roughly. The truth is, she hasn’t thought far. Just worry about the present. Focus on recovering and calculate later.

“You two have become close, haven’t you?” Dante suddenly questioned, he tried to control his jealousy because Alden got to be with Cara. Dante had no idea that Dante and Cara had never spoken to each other, let alone been close. Dante should have begged more for Cara to agree to come live with him. Dante was still thinking about what he couldn’t do.

“Not really. As you know, I’m the one who put Cara in a wheelchair. So the fact that she’s here, I can’t refuse. Plus, at the request of her father and mother. I and her need to maintain a harmonious relationship.”

Alden replied superficially, showing that he didn’t want to talk about this topic anymore. Cara didn’t care at all. She somewhat agreed with what Alan had just said. Now she understood what Alden’s point was. Alden’s harmonious relationship is cold, alien, and unconcerned. Alden’s point of view and thoughts are just ridiculous.

Cara fixed her eyes on the food and tea, occasionally glancing at Agatha’s all-too-perfect garden. Cara is not used to talking about herself too much, nor talking for too long with people she is not close to. Cara knows the temperament of the Dante brothers. And she definitely felt that she was in Lily’s deadly sights. Cara is not stupid not to realize, Lily has a crush on Alden. Being naturally in this situation, Cara is really unlucky.

“So Alden, how’s your divorce going? Are you really going to end up with Emma?” Dante tries to change the subject but accidentally chooses a delicate one, much to Alden’s irritation.

“I’d better not talk about it. And there’s no reason for you to know about it.”

“That’s right, it’s over, don’t let Alden remember that shameless woman.”

Lily stepped in, shooting Dante a reproachful look. She said she was still holding Alden’s hand.

“That Emma wasn’t worth a dime. Getting rid of her was a relief, lucky Alden.”

Cara didn’t really care about the topic Lily was talking about. She’s too lazy to put things in her head that doesn’t concern her. But god, why does Lily’s voice keep flowing in her brain? This is ridiculous.

“Alden. I told you that Emma wasn’t good. But you were so delusional, you didn’t listen to me.” Lily loves to speak badly of Emma and likes to speak when she gets the chance.

“Enough, Lily.” Alden snapped: “I told you not to mention her.”

“Because I care about you. Why are you upset when what I say is true?” Lily showed a sulky expression but failed to win Alden’s sympathy. Not only that, Alden ignored her.

“Alden. The past is over, you’d better forget about her.” Lily has a comment: “Look to the future, receive the attention of people who are sincere with you.”

Lily was implying that she was someone Alden should give a new chance to. People who heard it would probably judge Lily as a brazen person. Cara herself is also seeing how fake Lily is, making her want to vomit.

“Shut up, you know what the hell. Don’t meddle in my affairs, nor in my life.” Alden scolded angrily.

Then Alden resolutely stood up, completely cutting off Lily’s clinging. Alden needed space to release the tension in his head. So he left. Because he was so familiar with the positions of the house, it was easy for Alden to return to his room without assistance. Lily took the opportunity to follow Alden, to be alone with Alden.

With Cara and Dante leaving, Cara had to take a deep breath to stay calm. According to Cara, she is dealing with a wolf.Belongs to (N)ôvel/Drama.Org.
