Betrothed To The Mafia Lord

Chapter 375

Chapter 375

Luca’s POV

I held the door open for Sofia and then I slid into the seat after her. It was a little bit past the time which

we were supposed to have already been on the way to the location for the arts exhibition.

I had left home early this morning, not just because there were some last minutes preparations to get in

places, and it was definitely not because I wanted to be away from her to avoid sinking further into

guilt… it was because I had went to construct a quick sweep around the location and to station my men

in different areas for utmost protection.

I could already tell that one of my stupid, dumb enough enemies was definitely going to want to try

something stupid today, and I was going to teach them a big lesson for that.

I glanced at Sofia who was in a simple looking hoodie and a small flared skirt. She was going to get

dressed at the venue, another reason why I should definitely have arrived home earlier than I had done

some time ago.

There was so much I wanted to do right now.

For one, I wanted to do nothing but to take her in my arms and just hug her to myself, because each

time I hug her, it always makes me feel so much better.

I couldn’t bring myself to do that right now, like I hadn’t been able to bring myself to do since the night

with Alexa had happened.

A small scowl was on Sofia’s face, and she was sitting at the far end of the car seat, leaving a lot of

gap between us, a stark constract to how it used to be between us in cars, whereby I’d have her atop

me in an instant and reducing her to a moaning mess before she could gather her thoughts.

There was already a shift in our dynamic, and it was undoubtedly my fault.

How I was going to go about fixing it without hurting her further, was completely beyond me.

I glanced out the window after a little while, willing the day to move faster than it was currently doing.

After some time, the car was pulling into the venue.

It was a location situated at the mouth of Italy, almost an hour drive from our house. I had instantly

bought the entire place after Sofia had decided to settle on this one as soon as she had seen it in

person.

After today, this was going to become her arts display center and people were going to be coming from

everywhere to see her work. I didn’t want her to have to share this arena with anyone, I wanted to have

complete assess to this place so my guards could thoroughly guard every existing corner.

I held the car door open for her and helped her out. Her fingers were sort and small in my hand, I really

do miss holding her hand whenever I wanted like I once used to.

Our gazes locked once, she had a Louis Vuitton bag hanging off her left shoulder which I assumed

contains her outfit for the day. She bit on her bottom lip as she stared at our hands and then back at my

face.

My throat felt dry, I didn’t know what to say.

I should let go of her hand, but I really didn’t want to.

“Are you excited?” I finally found myself asking and surprise filled her face as she slowly nodded at me

in response.

“Thank you so much for this. I haven’t really gotten the chance to thank you in the past few days, but I

really am grateful for this.” Her eyes were wide as she spoke and I instantly shook my head.

“You don’t need to thank me, bunny.” I murmured in response, and then my thumb which had been

absent mindedly stroking a spot on her knuckle froze up as soon as I realized what I had referred to her

as.

Her eyes also widened a fraction, and then I wanted as she shook her head twice, making the weight in

my chest get impossibly heavier.

“Don’t.” She said, and then she gently tugged her hand from my grip.

My tongue felt heavy in my mouth and I wanted to do nothing than to drop at her feet and confess to

her in that moment while gripping her waist, but of course I did none of that and pocketed my hands

instead.

“I’ll be heading in right now, my manager wants to discuss something with me.” She mumbled and I

nodded once, watching as she took one long glance at me before walking past me, towards the

entrance of the venue which had been transformed into an art house in a single day.

I made my way towards where my men were already filling out and settling in different spots, throwing

a quick glance at the watch on my wrist, wondering where the hell james was. He was supposed to be

here since morning today, but had called me to inform me that he was going to be late because

something had come up unexpectedly.

I spotted Travis coming towards me after a few minutes. He gestured at the venue with a tilt of his

head.

“My over enthusiastic wife is already in there with yours.”

Kayla was an over energetic person, hopefully she’d be able to help keep Sofia’s mood really high

today, I thought to myself, feeling thankful for Kayla’s overly bright personality for once.

About thirty minutes later, people started to turn up, pouring into the venue in groups and it wasn’t long

before everywhere got filled up.

James showed up some time after that, looking like he didn’t get any sleep throughout the night, and I

told him just that but he only laughed it off and then picked up from where I had been at, barking orders

here and there.

About thirty minutes later, the place had been completely filled up. A lot of people were not from around

here, proving that people had actually traveled for this. Care of different brands and worth all parked in

every spot available in and out of the widely spaced compound.

Sometime later, when the exhibition started. I stayed outside the venue, where it would be easy to

observe everywhere from. All text © NôvelD(r)a'ma.Org.

When I finally made my way into the venue, my jaw clenched and my hands tightened in my pants,

experiencing the biggest shock of today on seeing no one but Alexa in the congregation.
