After Divorcing my Captain Husband (Chloe and Michael)

Chapter 678

Chapter 678 Care About You

"I know William is your friend, so I'll leave this person to you. If you want to notify William, I'll support that." Michael's deep voice resonated in Chloe's ears.

She understood Michael well enough to realize that he and James had just returned from meeting Erik. Given his usual approach, he would have dealt with the problem himself, just like he had with Ariana. But this time, because William was Chloe's friend, he held back from taking action against that guy. Chloe sat on the couch, contemplating her next move. "I guess I should call William," Chloe finally said.

She remembered that William hadn't come to cook today; he had mentioned being busy for a couple of days.

At first, she felt relieved that he wouldn't find out about her possible HIV infection, thinking it would keep him safe from the turmoil. But now, she had to reach out to him. "William, do you have a moment?" Chloe asked as soon as he picked up the phone.

Surprised by the call from Chloe, William replied gently, "I should be free in about half an hour. What's up?"

Chloe glanced at the clock. Half an hour would bring them to around five o'clock, not too late.

"Could you come over?"

Hearing the urgency in her voice, William sensed something was off. "Sure, I'll swing by after I finish up. What do you want to eat tonight? I can bring something." "No need for that; we've already got food prepared. Just come over," Chloe replied, trying to keep it casual.

...

After hanging up, Chloe heard James' voice. "What are we eating, then?"

Candy shot him a glare. "Ordering takeout isn't going to kill you, you know!"

Chloe simply didn't want to burden William with cooking when they needed to discuss his brother. It felt disrespectful to ask him to make dinner under these circumstances. "By the way, where's Grandpa?" Chloe asked, realizing she hadn't seen Admas since returning.Belongs to (N)ôvel/Drama.Org.

Michael replied, "He went to find Sir Miller."

After the last visit from the Miller family, it was clear they didn't want Chloe to have any ties with the Shawn family. They planned to take her away once she was in a better emotional state.

Admas had been restless since that meeting, hardly sleeping.

So today, he decided to visit the Miller family to have a heart-to-heart with his old friend, hoping sincerity would sway Russell to let Chloe stay.

Chloe was taken aback to hear that Admas was with the Miller family.

It reminded her of the flood of messages she had received over the past couple of days from Amanda and Marvin.

She had been too overwhelmed yesterday to even look at her phone.

Now, prompted by Michael's words, Chloe finally opened her messages.

The texts from Amanda and Marvin

were filled with concern, offering

and support, reminding her

that the Miller family was always there for her.

Tears welled up in Chloe's eyes.

It had been so long since she had felt the warmth of family care.

Ever since her mother passed away, she had been alone, but now, those long-lost feelings of love and support were creeping back in.

As the tears fell onto her phone screen, Michael was the first to notice something was off. "Chloe, what's wrong?"

Wiping her eyes, Chloe shook her head and murmured, "I'm fine."

But Michael spotted the messages on her screen and immediately understood her emotional turmoil.

"Chloe, there are so many people who care about you, who love you, including me."

A bittersweet ache filled Chloe's heart.

She couldn't help but think that maybe the universe was finally making up for all the hardships she had endured.
