Branch Seventy
After Xavier, Brian, and Jason finished their meeting it was already almost sunrise. Xavier drove Jason back to his hotel. They needed to rest up so they can be in time for the business launch that evening.
“Young master, you are welcome” one of the staff greeted when she saw Xavier walk in tiredly with his hair scattered.
Jessica heard the conversation in the kitchen. She was tempted to go out to have a look at him. She wanted to see him and tell him thank you in person.
“Where is Jessica?” Jessica heard Xavier tell the staff.
“She is in the kitchen preparing breakfast” she responded.
“Thank you,” Xavier said walking towards the kitchen.
He had wanted to see her since he left home. Maybe he just wanted to know how she was doing. That is what it had to be.Contentt bel0ngs to N0ve/lDrâ/ma.O(r)g!
Jessica heard him walk toward the kitchen and she quickly tried to fix her hair and act as if she was busy even though she was waiting for the muffins she had put in the oven.
“Why are you up so early?” she heard his voice.
She turned to see him standing and leaning on the door frame. His hair was now scattered. It was different from what he had left. She has seen him after work countless times but this was the first time she saw him with disheveled hair and she had to admit he looked hot.
“I had to prepare breakfast” she responded clearing her throat.
“You should allow the staff to handle it sometimes too,” Xavier said.
His voice sounded rough and was like music to her ears.
“I like doing this and even cooking for you and your family,” she told him.
“Allow the staff to do it sometimes,” he said pushing himself off the frame of the door.
He turned to leave. He had nothing to say to her. He was not going to ask her why she was crying over her ex. That was her personal business but seeing her was good enough for him.
“Wait” she called after him stopping his movement.
“Yes,” he answered feeling his face turn up to a smile. He cleared his throat and turned his face to normal and turned.
“Are you going to be joining us for breakfast?” she asked innocently.
If she was asking that way he would want to join so he can see her but he was exhausted and could not take it anymore.
“No I won’t I have to rest up before we go for the business launch,” he said sadly.
“Okay then I would make something you can have for a late lunch,” she told him.
“Don’t bother yourself. Have the staff make it and rest” he told her.
“I have to do it. Accept it as my thanks for your help yesterday”
“Thanks?” he asked raising his eyebrows.
“Yeah, you helped me a lot yesterday. That being said thanks so much for yesterday” she told him.
“My pleasure,” he said faking a bow which made her smile. Seeing her smile made him smile unconsciously.
“I would have the meal ready for you whenever you want it”
“Okay,” he said turning to leave.
Jessica did all she had to do and then went to rest up in the room. When she entered she saw Xavier sleeping soundly on the bed. She sat on the bed and watched him silently.
“What are you doing?” she murmured to herself lowly.
She stood up from the bed and went to the closet. She had a quick shower and changed her clothes. She came and climbed into the bed. She turned her back to Xavier because she could not understand why and how she was staring at him so fondly.
She knew she had a soft spot for him. He seemed lonely and she wanted to make his life comfortable. What was this she was feeling all of a sudden? Was he not in love with Burke?
He was the one she loved how can suddenly think that Xavier was sexy? She did not want to stare at him any longer. Maybe it was because he did something that was out of the ordinary. Maybe if he did something like he usually did he would fade away from her mind.
Her thoughts consumed her until she drifted into sleep.
Xavier stood up to see Jessica laying there with her hair scattered on the pillow and her mouth slightly open. She was cute he could not lie. He had always thought she was cute.
He checked the time and it was almost time for the launch and he did not want to be late. He went down because he was hungry and he remembered that Jessica said she would prepare a meal for him.
“Roselle, do I have a meal?” Xavier asked as he entered the dining area to see her wiping down the table.
“Hello young master, the young lady prepared lunch for you and I would heat it quickly for you” she responded after she gave a quick bow.
“Okay then,” Xavier said pulling out one of the chairs and sitting in it.
“Roselle,” he said stopping her.
“Yes young master,” she said turning back to face him.
“Can you get someone to go wake up Jessica? It is almost time for the event” he said acting nonchalantly as he scrolled on his phone.
“Yes young master,” she said and left.
After a few moments, Angel passed by him. She bowed slightly and went to help Jessica get ready for the event.
“I don’t even think I am your grandfather anymore” Xavier heard Dawson’s voice behind him.
He turned to see his grandfather being wheeled in by Mr. Gilbert.
Xavier remembered Mr. Gilbert. He was as close as family to them both. He had stopped working for Dawson when he was admitted to the hospital a few months back.
“I did not know Mr. Gilbert resumed back to work already,” Xavier said standing to greet him.
“Hello young master,” Gilbert said. “I resumed back today” he added.
“He must come back to work if I am going to come back” Dawson answered.
“You are coming back to work?” Xavier asked.
Dawson nodded his head with the sweetest smile on his face.
“Why?”
