Chapter 83 You Talk to Your Uncle in This Way
"Right, why?"
Linda shook her head and exchanged a glance with Charles Mu, "Nothing, I'm just asking."
About 90 dumplings were made and boiled for five people to eat. Ccontent © exclusive by Nô/vel(D)ra/ma.Org.
Linda served some sauce including vinegar and soy sauce to go with them. Then a traditional lunch of
dumplings was thus finished.
As they began to eat, Linda called to Bun and Paul who stood beside them, "Come on, Bun, Paul, why
don't we eat together?"
Paul shook his head and smiled, "No, thanks, My Lady. Bun and I are servants. It's inapproriate for us
to eat with you."
Linda totally disagreed with what Paul just said. They were not in a feudal age. Everybody was equal.
Bun and Paul were just working for the Mu clan. It did not mean the two were beneath them.
"Come on, eat with us." said Charles Mu as he wiped some flour off Linda's face with a tissue.
It was only after Charles gave them the green light that they finally consented to sit with them.
During dinner, they were talking and laughing as if they were a family.
Bun was such a smooth talker and used her sense of humour to lift Johnson Xia's spirits. Feeling
delighted, Johnson even suggested that he wanted to adopt Bun as his daughter.
There were dumplings left. Linda planned to have them boiled before she left, so that she could deliver
them to Donna Xie as her dinner.
As they were about to leave, Johnson Xia found it hard to tear himself away from all these people. He
kept reminding Linda to visit him more frequently.
Since her father lived alone, it goes without saying that she would try to visit him more often.
On the way out of the villa of the Xia clan, Charles Mu and Paul received a call and left to deal with
some businesses. Then Linda went to visit her foster mother with Bun. Being well looked after in the
hospital for so many days, Donna Xie should have recovered by now.
After arriving at the hospital, Linda got off the car and looked at the azure sky.
Basking in the sunshine, Linda felt pretty happy as she thought of her upcoming engagement party.
"Bun, go bring those dumplings to my mom. I am going to Dr. Xu's office to ask her something about
my mother's illness."
Doctors and family members of patients always avoided talking those patients' conditions in their
presence lest what they said should upset those patients and deteriorate their conditions.
Besides, there were some other things that Linda wanted to ask Anna.
"My Lady, you are so funny. Do you realize the irony?" said Bun as she took the fresh-keeping box full
of dumplings from Linda.
"What I just said? What's funny?" Linda felt confused about Bun's words. She'd been thinking about
what she's going to discuss with Anna and did not realize what's wrong with her words.
"You said 'BUN, bring those DUMPLINGS to my mother'."
"Well..." After saying the words two more times, Linda was amused by what herself just said and burst
into laughter, all the while narrowing her yes.
After arriving at the door of Anna's office, Linda knocked.
"Come on in." said Anna inside the office.
"Anna." Linda opened the door and came in.
Anna was reading some medical analysis reports when Linda came in. She then put them down and
said, "You are here, My Lady."
"Well, I come to visit my mom. How's my mom now?"
"The stent implantation went pretty well. Mrs. Xie's condition is very stable now. But I notice that
sometimes she would just sit there, looking melancholy."
"Looking melancholy?"
"Right, I have asked Mrs. Xie about what has been upsetting her. She just told me that she's fine. I am
a doctor, you know. I can sense she had some concerns."
"Well, I will have a talk with her. My mom always acts like that, not willing to tell others her concerns.
Anyway, how about the things I asked you to investigate last time?"
"Oh, you mean Lady Nalan's death report? I've been working on it. But it's quite hard for me to get it,
because her death certificate was not issued by doctor from our hospital."
Linda suspected that there were somthing fishy about her biological mother's death. So she had Anna
get to the bottom of it.
"Fine, what about my father? Is he in good health?"
"Well, Lord Xia was doing Ok. I've been helping him recover from his food poisioning. But he had a
pretty weak kindney and needs some good rest."
"What you mean by saying he got a weak kidney?"
There were only Anna and Linda in the office and the two was in a good relationship. So without being
coy, Anna said bluntly, "That means you father had too much sex. Either your father had some affairs
or May Shen had insatiable appetite for sex."
"Funny!" After hearing what Anna just said, Linda felt amused and said, "Charles Mu have shown me
some audio clips of May Shen having sex...You have no idea how open she can be. I guess she has
something to do with my father's weak kidney."
Anna made a cup of coffee for Linda and they had a little chat. Then Linda left Anna's office and went
over to visit Donna Xie.
As she was about to step inside the ward, Linda saw someone she never wanted to meet again for rest
of her life.
Derek Xie.
But Derek Xie looked rather wretched.
His hands were tied behind his back by Bun. As Bun kicked him at his knee to hold him down, Derek
Xie kept wailing, "No! Please! Please! Stop beating me! I am your Lady's uncle. We are family!"
How could he get into the ward? Linda felt furious at the sight of her uncle and said, "Uncle? Now you
remember you are my uncle? Derek Xie, what are you doing here?"
"Dear Linda, my niece. Please have the girl unhand me. Ouch, my arms probably have broken. Donna,
you hear me? My arms are broken!"
Sitting on bed, Donna was somewhat upset by her brother's wail.
No matter what Derek Xie had done to her, he's still her brother. She began to plead with Linda for him,
"Linda, please let go of him. He did not mean to harm..."
Seeing as Donna Xie had interceded for him, Linda felt there's no need to rough him up any more.
"Bun." Bun quickly understood what she meant and let go of him.
"Derek Xie, I warn you one more time. Get out of here!" Linda felt sick to her stomach just seeing Derek
Xie, let alone talking peacefully with him. Beacuse Derek Xie cold-heartedly kicked Linda and her
family out when they were in need of help.
There's no way Linda could forgive him.
As the saying goes, it is always easy to bless than to help.
"Linda, how could you talk to your uncle in this way? We are family, you know." To Linda, the crooked
smile on his fat face was disgusting.
"Family? Now you remember we are family? Were we family when you kicked my mother and my sister
out back then? retorted Linda as she grabbed him by the collar, "You remember how heavy the rain
was when you throwed all of my sister's stuff from the second floor and made her homeless just so
your own daughter could have a spare room to study!
Even though your daughter was given the new study, she only got a 50 in math test of the college
entrance examination. Isn't that funny? Well?"
