A Successful Career After Divorce

Chapter 951: Childish

Ranita felt wronged! She was happy to see Brendon too! Wasn’t it obvious?

“Ranita, you really hurt my feelings,” Brendon said, his eyes downcast and his expression a bit sad, looking genuinely upset.

Ranita knew he was pretending.

She didn’t want to bother with him anymore. She lightly pinched the back of his hand, not using much force. “Childish!”

“Ayaan is a three-year-old child. Are you too?”

After a pause, Ranita added, “Besides, he’s our child. Are you even jealous of him?”Belonging © NôvelDram/a.Org.

Brendon pulled her into the elevator, sticking close to her side, and chuckled softly. “I’m a man, Ayaan is a little man. If you’re too close to him, I do get jealous.”

Ranita was both amused and exasperated.

“Enough, if you keep pushing, I really won’t talk to you anymore!” Ranita said. She felt he was too close; his warm breath fell on her ear, seeping through her pores into her skin, making it itch.

“Can you not stand so close? This is an elevator, there are cameras!” Ranita chided, pushing him away. Unexpectedly, he wrapped his arms around her waist from behind.

The inpatient department’s elevator had fewer people than the outpatient one, and this elevator was relatively secluded, so no one else got on the whole way down.

Brendon was quite pleased.

He held her hand all the way to the parking lot. As soon as Ranita approached, the door of the black sedan opened, and little Ayaan climbed out with his short legs, then darted towards Ranita like a cannonball.

“Mommy!” Ayaan had seen Ranita in the past two days. Hugging her leg, he called out sweetly and immediately teared up. “Mommy, why haven’t you been paying attention to Ayaan?”

“Ayaan thought you didn’t want me anymore and that you were going to give me to Daddy.”

Ayaan had grown up by her side. When she used to travel for work, Ayaan would call and video chat with her every day.

Probably because she was always around, Ayaan never had such worries.

But now suddenly there was a dad in the picture.

The books said that after a divorce, the child could only stay with one parent… Ayaan was very worried that he would be sent to live with his dad.

“Silly boy!” Ranita pinched his cheek. “Mommy loves you so much; how could I give you away!”

“Besides, isn’t your dad good to you?”

Ayaan looked at Brendon and pouted. “Daddy is good, but I want Mommy more.”

After a few seconds of silence, Ayaan added, “I like both Daddy and Mommy.”

Ranita bent down to pick up Ayaan, kissed his cheek, and comforted him. “Thank you for liking me. I like Ayaan too! Mommy is taking care of Grandpa in the hospital, so I can’t come home!”

“It might take a few more days before I can go back. Can you stay with Daddy nicely?”

Ayaan nodded. “Yes!”

“Can I go see Grandpa?”

Since they were already at the hospital, Ranita thought it would be appropriate to go up and visit. Besides, Benedict liked Ayaan so much; he would surely be happy to see him!

“I’ll take him up. Can you wait for us here?” Ranita looked apologetically at Brendon. Although Benedict no longer objected, it was best not to complicate things right now.

Brendon frowned slightly and said a bit unhappily, “Alright! I’ll wait here for you.”

Ranita took Ayaan to the ward. Seeing Ayaan made Benedict very happy; it was as if he instantly regained his spirit. “Haha, my little darling!”
