A Successful Career After Divorce

Chapter 114 Insincere Apology

“I-I-I…”Holly stuttered for a long time but couldn’t say anything at all.

Chris frowned, “Since you can’t figure out what happened then apologize to Rantia.”Content is © 2024 NôvelDrama.Org.

How could Holly accept that?!

Ranita always gave in to Holly, so how could she apologize to her now? Holly’s eyes grew even redder as she stared at Ranita in shock. “You want me to apologize to her?”

“I’m not apologizing to her! She was clearly teasing me just now, and I…”

Chris furrowed his brow even more. “Holly, your attitude is terrible for someone who did something wrong! I’ll talk to Brendon about it…”

At the mention of Brendon, Holly immediately surrendered. “Chris, please don’t tell my brother!” She gritted her teeth and mumbled something unclear while glaring at Ranita. “Fine, I’ll apologize!”

“Holly! Apologize sincerely!” Chris demanded.

Holly was about ready to explode with anger but was caught by Chris’s words. Her face had already been embarrassed enough; now she was being forced into apologizing to Ranita? It felt like a knife stabbing directly into her heart.

“I’m sorry, Ranita. I was too impulsive just now,” Holly said insincerely.

Ranita didn’t feel any sincerity from Holly’s apology; she believed that as soon as they were out of Chris’s sight, Holly would pounce on her like a wolf.

But it still felt good!

Without responding to Holly’s apology, Ranita turned towards Chris and said, “I’m feeling a bit tired. I think I’ll go rest.”

“I’ll walk you out since we’re parked in the same lot,” Chris offered before following after Ranita into the elevator. Once inside he spoke again, “Holly has been spoiled rotten and has a quick temper with harsh words sometimes! Don’t let it slide if she ever bullies you – tell me instead so that I can help you vent your frustrations.”

“Thank you very much Mr. Webster,” replied an appreciative Ranita who knew both Steve and him were friends with Brendon but never looked down on or mistreated her because of it.

“Don’t mention it – after all there are still projects where we need your help.” He paused for a moment before asking, “Do you need me drive you home or can you drive yourself?”

“I haven’t had any alcohol tonight so driving myself won’t be an issue,” replied Rantia before remembering their plans for meeting up over the weekend, “What time should we meet tomorrow?”

“Today’s been tiring so let’s meet at 4 pm,” suggested Chris.

“Isn’t that too late? How about 2:30 pm?” asked Rantia as they walked towards the elevator doors.

Suddenly though, Chris reached out and pulled Rantia back slightly while whispering lowly near ear, “Be careful!” causing Rantia bump against his shoulder while catching whiff of faint soap scent.

“Thank you! Lately, I’ve just been feeling restless all the time!” blushed Rantia sheepishly. The fire door had a low threshold, but luckily, Chris gave her a helping hand; otherwise, she might have tripped.

“Be careful, the floor here is uneven. You might trip and fall,” Chris paused for a moment before chuckling lightly. “You might even cry like a baby!”

“I won’t cry! I’m not a child!” Ranita laughed, her dark eyes sparkling with joy as her fair face lit up.

Ranita was a simple woman who found happiness in the little things. Chris couldn’t help but think that she was both charming and adorable.

“Hehe… I was just joking with you,” Chris didn’t finish his sentence as he noticed Ranita suddenly stop walking. He followed her gaze and saw Brendon and Shannon.

Chris pursed his lips slightly.

“It’s Brendon and Shannon,” Chris let go of Ranita’s hand to greet them.

“You guys haven’t left yet?”

Brendon gave Ranita a cold glance before speaking in an icy tone, “Shannon said she wanted to have drinks with you guys at the pier after coming back since you didn’t get to chat earlier.”
