CHAPTER 167
Chapter 167
“I’ve been waiting for a while now,” Alpha Mason mentioned as he smiled at me. I stopped in my tracks before I walked towards him.
“You can see me,” I said in disbelief.
“I told you that you come from a long line of Dreamwalkers. Who do you think that was?” He asked with pride.
It was at the tip of my tongue to say Alpha Darius but then, I remembered that I was still in doubt of whoever they were to
- me.
He stretched his hand towards me and I took it.
“Are we truly related?” I asked him.
He smiled. “The only way you might not be the girl we’ve been searching for is if my mother secretly had you eighteen years ago without us knowing,”
He answered.
I said nothing but kept staring at him. Even though it was beginning to make sense to me, I still had a doubt. The fact that he was a dreamwalker too was evidence that I was truly related to them.
“Let’s have an adventure. Where do you usually go?” He asked, breaking the silence.
I pointed to the mountain. “There. You can see everything happening around here. You can see every secret everyone is trying to protect with darkness and you’ll be shocked,”
He laughed. “That isn’t what this gift is supposed to be used for but still, let’s do it your way tonight,”
“You wouldn’t regret it,” I excitedly said.
It was amazing finding someone who shared the same ability as me. It made me realize I wasn’t alone in the world. It made me feel seen.
We both walked to the mountain and sat on it. This text is © NôvelDrama/.Org.
“So, tell me, Harriette. What’s your trigger?” He asked.
“Trigger? What do you mean?” I asked curiously. I suddenly wanted to learn everything about this mysterious gift of mine.
“I mean, what usually calls you out? What makes you dreamwalk? For example, when I started dreamwalking, I didn’t quite understand why I did until I realized I was Dreamwalking because my mother or my brother, Alpha Darius needed my help with something. Once I realized that, I started using it to dreamwalk even on days when it didn’t involve them. So, what’s yours?” He asked again and despite the explanation he just gave, it honestly didn’t make it any better.
My mouth was slightly open as I stared at him.
“I still don’t understand,”
I answered.

He nodded slightly. “Truly, you’re a baby Dreamwalker like the king said. Don’t worry, you’ll figure it out,”
He said in resignation.
“You can help me,” I quickly said. “Figure it out, I mean,”
He signed loudly and mumbled under his breath.
“I’m not good at this but let’s start this way. The first time you dreamwalked, when was it? Was there any strange thing or event that occurred that day,”
I stared at him. Could I trust him enough to tell him this?
11:12 AM
“It was on the first day I came to this Rogue Pack. The strange thing was I saw a red wolf in the mirror and when I tried to sleep, it happened,”
“And that was the first time,” he asked.
“Yes,”
“What was your dream like before then?” He asked.
“It was blank. Void. I didn’t have any dreams before then,” I answered truthfully.
“Have you ever shifted into your wolf?”
“Once in a while,”
“What does it look like?“.
I shrugged. “I don’t know,” I answered truthfully.
“So, what was the red wolf?” Alpha Mason had this intense look on his face as he stared at me.
“I think it belongs to Alpha Rowan,” I whispered as though someone could hear us.
He smiled in a way to tell me it wasn’t forbidden to say that. “Now, that makes sense,”
What does he mean by that? I didn’t ask him though. I just kept quiet and waited for him to say more.
“When do you shift into your wolf?” He asked again. I frowned. Why was he repeating the question?
“Once in a while,” I answered impatiently.
“I know, Harriette. When exactly?”
“On full moon,” I answered.
“Why?”
“Because that is the normal day to shift. It’s abnormal seeing all these wolves shifting like it’s nothing. It’s supposed to be sacred,” I explained, hoping I could enlighten this one person.
“That makes sense,” he answered then laughed.
I squinted my eyes at him. Why did I feel as though he was mocking me?
“Tell me more about things like that. Do you believe in mates?”
“Mates? Those are things of the past. They’ve been abolished but the people here still believe in such bullshit. They’re supposed to take a partner recommended by their leader who would be the end and beginning of their life,” L explained. When I turned to him, he was staring at me as though I had two heads.
“What?” I asked.
He shrugged. “Nothing. You’re making sense,” he added.
“What about gadgets?”
“Devil’s equipment,
What about rankings in the werewolf world?”
“There is supposed to be one leader and others follow. The ranking is bullshit too,”
“Clothing,”
“Vanity,”
“Money,”

“Bleh,”
“Cars,”
I shrugged. “Waste of money which is also bleh,”
I laughed and Alpha Mason laughed with me.
“You all are living a weird life,” I said.
He shook his head. “You’re the weird one, Harriette. How many packs have you visited other than yours and this one?”
I was shocked at his words. I thought he understood me. That man just tricked me into believing he understood me.
“You tricked me,” I spat.
He shook his head. “No, Harriette. I’m just merely interested and I want to know you better, that’s all,”
“Really?” I asked.
He nodded. “I promise.”
I nodded. I looked ahead to see Alpha Rowan walking out of the building. I stood up, ready to follow him secretly.
“What are you trying to do?” He asked.
“Nothing,” I answered, even though my eyes were fixated on Alpha Rowan.
“Have
you ever wondered why you lie a lot, Harriette?”
My gaze snapped to him. “What?”
“That is because you find it difficult to trust anyone or maybe you were
brought up not to trust anyone,”
I stared at him before I quickly pushed his words to the back of my head and turned to Rowan again.
“He might be your key,” Alpha Mason said behind me.
“What Key?”
I asked but I got no response. When I turned back, he wasn’t there
I walked down the mountain hurriedly and went after Rowan.
anymore.
As he was about to round a corner, I followed him closely behind. It was fun but it was for a few seconds.
Alpha Rowan suddenly stopped and turned. As I looked up at him, the playful smirk on my face slipped off like melted ice. Red eyes! I gasped.
He looked straight at me and gave me an evil smirk.
“Hello, friend. Missed me?”
Shit! Shit! Thorne was back.
A/N
Alpha Mason is such an important character to me and a big part of this book from the beginning. I would’ve loved to write his book as well but I’m scared–it–would be boring. Instead, I would rather keep telling his story like this.
I want to know, who’s your favorite character so far? From both book 1 and 2.
