The Rejected Luna: Daddy, Where is Mommy?

“That… that wasn’t completely true. You know that don’t you?” Calvin said on which the playful smile on Ethlyn’s lips vanished.

“In that case, I also know why were you here. It’s just that I want to hear it from your mouth.” Ethlyn spoke, keeping her point straight and clear instead of playing with words like a teenager. They kept looking into each other’s eyes.

‘An honest try,’ Calvin recalled his own word. He sighed before speaking, “I was jealous.” Before a smile could have appeared on Ethlyn’s face listening to these three magical words, Calvin continued, “Please don’t be hopeful. It’s because of the one-sided bond.”

“Mm.. hmm. I know.” Ethlyn nodded her head, agreeing with him. “I know.” To hide the pain that she felt from Calvin’s blunt reply, she changed the topic, “By the way, what was that urgent work because of which you didn’t show up?” She asked casually.

Calvin was taken aback by her question. He had two options at that moment, one, either to skip the question, or second, to tell her the truth. And he really felt that he should go for the second one. He had never lied to his daughter then how could he do lie to the mother of his pup? Also, when he was trying to be honest, then he should go for the truth even if it would hurt her.

Her mother always told him that three things couldn’t be hidden for long, the sun, the moon, and the truth.

“Remember the incident that happened when you walked out of the mall?” Calvin asked to which she nodded her head. “Those hunters were behind the bars for kidnapping you, and I had planned that I would find out about them through the officer, but those hunters attacked the police station.” Ethlyn gasped, hearing this.

“Not just those captured hunters fled but also a couple of other criminals who were behind bars. Those monsters kept on firing at the police station until each and every people present there was either injured or dead. That was why I ran over that place as soon as possible because the officer had found out the detail of one of the hunters, and I had to ask him about them.” Calvin narrated to her everything about how the officer was dead by the moment he reached there. Hearing all this, Ethlyn now felt guilty for calling Calvin here by playing with words while he was helping those poor officers in the hospital.

“I’m so sorry.” Ethlyn apologized. “May Moon Goddess give peace to the soul of those officers who couldn’t make it today.” She said and felt she was the reason behind all this.

“Don’t be sad, Ethlyn. Maybe this was their fate.” Calvin tried to cheer her up. “Along with all this, I want to confess that… that I found my fated mate.”

“You what?”

“I… I found my fated mate.” Calvin repeated his words and saw the same expression on Ethlyn’s face that he had expected.

“A trap is laid for your brother. Save him before it is too late.” Colton read the letter.

‘What trap?’ Colton thought and checked the letter again to see if something other else was written on it or not, but he couldn’t find anything. ‘Surely, this stupid will have trusted someone easily. It looks like I have to save his ass from getting a kick.’ With this, he fished in his pocket in search of his phone and dialed Zordan’s number.

“Share the schedule of Calvin outside of the pack for the next couple of days.”

After a minute, he got Calvin’s schedule out of the pack, but it was from Monday. Sunday was missing. And he knew who could help him with the Sunday schedule.

“Haysbert. Roselet Haysbert.” Roselet received the call from the other end, talking like some detective.

“What’s Calvin’s plan for tomorrow?”

“Nothing much. He told me that we would go to someone’s place for a family dinner.”

“Oh, okay.” Colton started thinking about it before asking, “Why are you acting like a detective, by the way?”

“Calvin gave me a task to find who mixed something into Mommy’s drink by watching a video, but I couldn’t find any lead, Uncle Colt.”

“That’s because you’re looking for something specific, which your daddy told you, but a detective has to look at all the factors instead of just one. Just look for that moment since when your mommy held her head or started walking with support or something like that.”

“Okay. I get it. I will let you know if the mystery gets solved. Over and out.”

“Sure. All the best.”

Calvin’s words shocked Ethlyn. She couldn’t understand how she should react. She wouldn’t lie, but one of the truths of her life was that she definitely didn’t like this at all.

She wanted to ask Moon Goddess why now?

She meant all these years when she wasn’t in Calvin’s life. He didn’t find his mate, but the moment he talked about a future with her…

Tada… Mate took an entry into his life.

Why did the truth have the power to break her heart and hope beyond repair? She was already dealing with the shock of her mother and her sister’s truth, and now this. She couldn’t believe that she was really listening to this for real until she reconfirmed it and she got the same answer.

‘So, what now? He will reject us?’ Cinder asked her human.

‘I don’t know.’ Ethlyn replied. She tried to mask her expression before speaking, “Cong…Congratulation, Alpha Calvin.” She said with a tight smile on her lips. “You can reject me.” She added by keeping the stone on her heart. She shouldn’t be feeling bad, right? She was aware of this situation.
