Subtitle: My Contract Marriage
Written by: Marvy Hyacinth
“Don’t come close to me.”
Alexa said gently.
Anderson glanced at her and put a hand behind him.
“What’s that? What’s your hand doing behind you?”
Alexa half yelled in panic.
“Do I scare you?”
Anderson squinted his eye.
“Are you scared??”
“No, I’m not.”
Alexa replied.
“It looks like you are.”
Anderson sighed and raised his left hand to her face, but Alexa flinched when his fingers touched her face.
Anderson paused awhile before bringing his hand down on the hair on her face and brushing it away.
She was all sweaty and some of her hair had stuck to her face, so he helped her brush it behind her ear.
“I don’t know why you’re scared of me, It’s not like I bite.”
Anderson commented, put his hand behind him again, and pulled it forward.
Alexa noticed, there was a box in the hand he pulled forward.
She watched as Anderson unlatched the lock on the white box, and so on… She realized it was a first aid box.
“Give me your wrist.”
Anderson demanded as he focused on getting the necessary tools he needed out of the box.
“Why? What do you need my wrist for?”
Alexa asked sounding like a three-year-old.
“What…?”
“You heard me.”
Alexa said.
“You sound immature and stupid right now. I hope you know.”
“I know.”
Alexa pursed her lips.
“Now, give me your wrist.”
Anderson demanded again.
This time, Alexa complied and placed her hand in his.

Looking at the person dabbing cotton wool gently over my wrist, I got embarrassed.
Why the heck did I even think that such a gentleman like him would wanna hurt me when all he’s trying to do is take care of me?
I flinched the moment I felt something cold on my wrist.
Looking down at what Anderson was doing, I discovered that he had just poured a capful of mentholated spirit over my wrist and it hurt as fvck.
“Ow!”
I gritted my teeth in pain and withdrew my wrist from his hand.
Anderson looked up at me in disapproval.
“You’re such a crybaby.”RêAd lat𝙚St chapters at Novel(D)ra/ma.Org Only
He told me.
I glared at him and gave him a once-over.
“It hurts you know.”
“How old are you?”
He asked me my wrist on his palm once more.
“Twenty.”
“And you still grit when the mentholated spirit hits your skin?”
He asked sarcastically.
“As if you don’t too”
I accused.
“I don’t ”
He answered.
“Does it hurt you if you say sorry and feel sympathy or apologetic?”
“Nope.”
He replied glumly as his attention went back to my wrist, now dabbing it with fresh cotton wool again.
“Then why don’t you just say sorry and stop being all jerky?”
“Because I’m indeed jerky.”
He returned.
“I hate you.”
I seethed annoyed.
What I said seemed to get to him, because he stopped dabbing the cotton wool gently for some seconds.
The next thing I know is that he’s back at it again, but this time… He uses the cotton wool on my wrist roughly and I gasped.
“You’re hurting me.”
I groaned in pain in a bid to get him to go gentle as he was a few moments back, but instead… He clamped down his thumb on my wrist making my eyes water.
It seemed like he got angry anytime I spoke I’ll of him, but why?
Breathing hard, he removed his thumb from my wrist and grabbed a bandage from the first aid box.
Gripping my palm a little bit firmly, he placed some new cotton wool over my wrist and enclosed it with the bandage.
Finally done, he let go of my wrist, re-equips the materials be removed from the ox, and placed them back in, and after latching the box, he strode towards the same cupboard he was dealing with before sneaking out.
He came back to my side, picked up all the used cotton wools with a hand glove, and tossed them in a waste bin beside the door leading outside.
“Get up.”
I heard him say and I quickly climbed down from his bed.
“Remove the sheets.”
He commanded.
“Why?”
I questioned him.
“Did you forget so soon that you’re now my maid?”
He stated in a question ner.
“I said I quit.”
I thinned my lips.
“Oh no, little bird. You can’t.”
“What? What do you mean?”
I asked utterly confused.
“Because I already bought you.”
He dropped.
“Sorry… Did I hear you well?”
Alexa asked and blinked rapidly to make sure she’d heard well.
“Yeah, you heard well.”
Anderson said and sank into the soft embrace of a chair right opposite Alexa on the bed.
“What do you mean by… ‘You bought me?”
Alexa asked.
“You see… I have a lot to do with you and your inability to get work beforehand.”
Anderson said.
“What the!… Wait, my inability to get a job?”
Alexa asked half confused, half amused.
“Yes.”
Anderson glumly replied.
“How?”
“Well, since the day we met at that restaurant you used to work in, I think I like… Ughm, I decided to punish you for being rude to me.”
Anderson explained.
“By making almost everyone I went to turn me down?”
Alexa asked wrought in despair.
“That sums it up.”
Anderson folded his arms on his chest and relaxed more on the chair.
“No wonder. I always wondered why a bakery owner wouldn’t hire me. His stupid excuse was my outfit. Come to think of it… All of them didn’t have a really good reason why I wasn’t gonna be hired.”
Alexa thought aloud.
“Thank goodness, your brain wasn’t for fancy after all”
Anderson playfully said.
“So we meeting at the cemetery wasn’t a coincidence?”
Alexa asked.
“That was a coincidence… I could never stage visiting my mum.”
Anderson replied coldly and a glance at him told Alexa she needed to apologize.
“As if”
Alexa replied to her conscience which was by now pricking her real bad.
‘You need to apologize for bringing up such a sensitive matter’
Her conscience pricked her the more.
“He doesn’t apologize… So, I won’t too.”
Alexa replied with conviction.
‘Alexa!!!’
“Alright, alright. Before you eat my peace”
Alexa frowned.
‘Now go apologize’
Alexa’s conscience said sternly and she rolled her eyes at it.
“I’m sorry about what I said.”
Alexa apologized to Anderson.
“Nah… It’s it.”
Anderson pouted his lips in such a cute way.
“Back to what we were saying”
“Ha! Can’t you leave that topic alone?”
“I can’t.”
Alexa replied.
“Stupid”
“How’s what you claim even possible? I mean… All the people I turned to for a job rejected me working for them. How’s it possible that you talked to all of them?”
Alexa asked.
“Who am I?”
Anderson asked with his brow scrunched.
“Ughm, a stupid selfish dude who destroyed my ability to take care of my brother medically ?”
Alexa sarcastically said like that what do you think of me?”
“Duh! Yes.”
Alexa replied nonchalantly.
“Anyway, I wasn’t asking about what you thought of me. I was asking about what the public knows me as.”
Anderson said.
“Lol… A selfish billionaire?”
“Again, wrong. I’m not selfish.”
“How much do you give to charity In a year?”
“Not to brag, but…”
Anderson said and paused a while to run his hair backward to prove the point that he was indeed handsome.
“I spend over $50, 000 per month at charity events.”
“Oh… How come it didn’t get to people in my community?”
Alexa asked sarcasm dripping down her every word.
“You should be asking your community head that”
Anderson answered.
“And what’s that supposed to mean?”
Alexa asked utterly confused.
“I mean, it’s the only explanation to give. He took everything meant for your community”
“Mr. McDonald wouldn’t do such a thing.”
“Duh… Believe whatever.”
Anderson replied smugly.
“So back to my actual question… You said you bought me, what does that mean? It’s not like I’m a commodity you can walk up to in a store, pay for it and claim it as yours.”
Alexa said.
Anderson raised his left hand and curved it in a ❮ shape.
“It should be arriving at your house about… Right now.”
Anderson mumbled while checking the time on his phone.
“What should?”
Alexa scrunched one of her eyebrows.
“Drugs for your little brother.”
“Huh?!”
“I ain’t repeating myself.”
Anderson folded his hands back on his chest and said.
“Why would you get my brother drugs?”
“I don’t know too… Why did I do that?”
Anderson put a hand on his chin to show he was thinking about it too, but actually… He wasn’t.
“Oh, I remember… Because you’re mine now and everything concerning you, concerns me too.”
Anderson stated.
“I’m not yours. Why the fvck would you even think that?”
Alexa asked distraughtly.
“Because I already paid for Jace’s surgery.”
Anderson replied dryly.
