Mafia King

Chapter 21

The playful look she had on me morphed into seriousness when she noticed the gravity of my words.

“Have you had lunch, Sol?” She hinted if I wanted to take this conversation over lunch but I shook my head. There’s no better place but to have this conversation here.

“Alright.” She took the hint. “What is it, fratello?”

“Remember when I said you’re better suited being the don than I?” She raised a curious brow. A smirk started growing on her painted lips.

“I know where this is going.” She said in amusement. “Sol, he gave the family to you for a reason. It was not because I’m a woman or daddy’s little girl. That’s because I’m worse.”

“That’s exactly the reason why you’re better suited.”

“Why?” She asked. But I know her question is directed to the reason why I wanted to renounce the title. She then leaned, elbows resting flatly on the table. “The only reason you’d give it up, Sol, is family itself. I know you so much, fratello mio. I know you from head to toe and what’s inside that head of yours. I know that between the two of us you’d always been soft. It’s not a surprise that you finally fall in love.” She then leaned back to her chair.

I narrowed my eyes at her. “Have you been spying on me, Luna?”

“You won’t be calling me that when I sit on your throne.” She grinned mischievously. “But alas…” She then rolled her eyes. “Don’t be too cocky. You’re not worth stalking.” Cara crossed her arms. “Your reaction told me I’m right though.”

“I’m going to have a family, sorella.”

“Yes, I know. It’s written all over your damn face, fratello.” She deadpanned.

I shook my head. “I’m going to have a child soon- no, children actually. There’s two of them.”

She raised her eyebrows, not hiding the surprise in her face. “Twins.” She chuckled. And then her chuckle turned into a loud laugh. “Oh boy. You have beaten Stefano in one go.”

I shook my head, disbelieving her craziness. “Sorella…”

“I know.” There’s a moment of silence after her answer. Her face was now solemn. I didn’t want to expect anything. Although Cara was more than fit to rule the family, she never hinted of wanting the title. She was always going with the flow and was very loyal to her father and the family. She was stubborn and a bit hot headed but she never did something that could put the family in danger. She loves the family as much as I do. We grew up to value our own flesh and blood and the family we created as an organization.

We do sell illegal things but we’re so much against human trafficking and if we could, we raid the groups who are into that business and rescue the victims and return them to society. Viktor and I agreed on that and that made our alliance stronger. Fortunately, his son felt the same way.

“I’ll accept, fratello.” My eyes lit up at her answer. “But on one condition…” Anything. I have full trust in her. “Once I have the title, you will never interfere with the business. I forbid you so, fratello.”

I grinned. “That’s pretty damn easy to me.” I pause and ponder. “I just like you to know that I’m serious about this, sorella. I really wanted this to work out.”

“Sounds like you’re having a hard time on that.” She chuckled after teasing.

Sometimes I cursed myself for having a sharp sister. “One day, sorella, I hope one day you’ll find your match.” I rose from the chair, preparing myself to leave. Cara let out a vibrant laugh. She then stood and stepped out behind her desk. She walked towards me with her arms wide open.

“See you soon, fratello.” She said while hugging me. I tightened my hold on her and inhaled her scent, remembering it for the years to come that we won’t be seeing each other.Còntens bel0ngs to Nô(v)elDr/a/ma.Org

Having family means stepping completely out of this business and never return, never look back. I’m glad that Cara understood that. I’m glad that she knew me full well.

“Thank you. Thank you, sorella. Ti voglio bene.”

She then let go and placed her hand on my cheek, rubbing it with her thumb. “I wish you the best in your life and you’re soon to be family, fratello. Zio and babbo will be so proud of you. I can’t say the same thing with me though. Babbo will have a heart attack six feet under the ground when he finds out.” She shrugged and I laughed from the bottom of my heart.

I can’t believe I miss my crazy sorella.

Cara sighed. “As much as I want to be in your wedding…”

Our faces dimmed at the thought. “You still can go, mio sorella. I’m not going to forbid you.”

She shook her head disapprovingly. “I’m not going to risk your happiness or your future.

Anch’io ti voglio bene, fratello mio. I hope you know this is perhaps the last meeting we’ll have once I take over the family.”

I laugh. “I have yet to propose, sorella. The woman hates my guts. I don’t know if she’ll even say yes.” I joke, knowing she loves seeing me suffer.

She punched my arm playfully. “You have your ways with women. I’m sure she’ll accept you at some point in time. Make sure to grovel at her feet though.”

I laugh. “Not this woman, sorella.” I remembered the time I poured my heart out to her. I was very sincere about it but she just brushed me off and got inside the car instead.

I looked at my sister for a second and reminded me of the present. I then pulled her into a tight hug again. “Be well, mio sorella.”

I feel her inhale my scent and hummed.

I stayed in Italy for a few days and took care of things regarding my renouncing of my title. I had a hard time leaving when Cara and I said our goodbyes. But this was the best for me and my future family and Cara understood that full well. I don’t know what Leo will think about it but I had a decision that I’ll give him an option of freedom. Whatever he decides to do after this, I will support him.

The man in my thoughts appeared before me just as I stepped foot on the threshold of my mansion. He seemed so agitated. I raised a brow out of curiosity.

“What’s with you?”

“Trust me. You’re in for a surprise.” He then led me to the patio. I rolled my eyes when I saw her sitting on one of the chairs and a cup of probably tea on the table.

“Lovely weather, don’t you think so Di Angelo?”

I sat down at one of the chairs across her. “What brought you here, tesoro?”

She clasped her hands and mused. “You know I initially came here to visit Hailynn.” Shit. “For the record, cousin in law,” She said mockingly. “she doesn’t know I’m here. She’s probably upstairs resting her pregnant self.” She then gave me one of her intense glares that reminded me of Stefano.

Double shit.

“I will enjoy beating your shit up, Di Angelo.” She spat.
