Stop the car
The Ray of the sun setting casted a gentle orange glow on the linen curtains of Nathan’s room. Demelza sat down with her face red from feeling embarrassed about having sex with Nathan again.
She prepared her mind to receive Nathan’s trashing as usual but for some reason he was quiet. she could feel the air crackled with uncertainty of what comes next.
She looked at herself and she noticed she was putting on Nathan’s big long sleeved shirt and his oversized shirt and her hair was in a very rough bun. her gaze shifted around the room like one who has just been disvirgined.
Demelza stood up abruptly and started paying back and forth thinking about leaving before Nathan woke up. While pacing, she caught a glance of herself in front of the mirror and she couldn’t help but be very upset with herself for being vulnerable and unable to turn down Nathan’s touch. It really annoyed her that she liked Nathan that much.
She hastily packed her stuff and rushed out of the house before Nathan woke up. She couldn’t afford to face him or give him a chance to ridicule her once again. She came out of the apartment and took a taxi home realizing she had left some of her stuff in his house while in a rush to go home.

Nathan woke up after a few hours of a deep and refreshing sleep only to be shocked to see that Demelza is gone. He looked around and it was evident that she left in a hurry which made him smile. He knew she must be feeling extremely embarrassed if not, why else would she leave before he woke up considering the fact that she isn’t feeling well and there was one at home to take care of her.
While Demelza was back home, she kept going back and forth in her room thinking about how she was going to face Nathan the following day. She could feel her stomach churning from intense anxiety and regret.
while pacing in her room, she could hear her phone buzz on the reading table breaking the silence of the room. She turned towards the table to pick up the phone only to see that it was a text from Nathan. her heart skilled a bit while she opened it. ‘Why did you shy away like that? We could have had another round.’ her face contorts with a mixture of shame and utter regret after reading Nathan’s text. she felt more embarrassed seeing that Nathan used the drip emoji after the text.
she sighed after reading the text and there her phone bed. she could feel her hands tremble form feeling sick alniger again. in regret, she brought her hands into her face covering her eyes while she took a deep breath in an attempt to stop regretting. she could feel the weight of her stupidity sink in as her eyes welled up in tears. she slumps to the bed burying her face in the pillow and muffling her sobs as she felt like the world was closing in on her.
Still sobbing, she heard her phone buzz again. She slowly turned and stretched her hand out to reach for the phone. She picked it up and it was another text from Nathan. ‘I’ve made necessary arrangements, the first court session will be tomorrow and we have to see your dad in prison today to prepare him for tomorrow. Get dressed, I’ll pick you up in five.’ Demelza did not know whether to be sad or happy about the text because it meant well.
She wondered what strings Nathan had to pull to get her dad’s first court session to be the following morning. She shrugged her shoulders as she remembered Nathan is very powerful and he knew his way around.
She got dressed and waited for Nathan to arrive and pick her up. After a few minutes he finally arrived and she entered the car. The drive to the prison was a very quiet one as the atmosphere felt very tense with Demelza avoiding eye contact with Nathan at all cost.
Finally arriving at the prison, Demelza took a deep breath in because she was nervous. It had been a very long time since she saw her father. Since the last time she was there, Hampton made sure she would not be able to see him again. She went countless times but they wouldn’t let her see him until she got tired.
She knew that for her to be able to see him today, Nathan must have made sure of that. Finally in the driveway, Nathan found a good spot to park. And they both alighted from the car.
When they got Into the prison, they made their way to the counter but Nathan asked her to sit and wait for him. He had a talk with the kersn on duty and squeezed something into his hand.
“But you cannot talk to him, it is past visiting hours. If you get caught speaking with him, you are both on your own.” The officer told Nathan.
“That is not a problem at all. Thank you very much.” Having said that, Nathan gettured to Demelza to follow him. She said up and walked beside Nathan as another officer showed them the way to her father’s cell.
Demelza’s heart pounded as she walked with Nathan toward her father’s cell. The heavy metal door creaked open which revealed a dimly lit passage lined up with prison cells. the smell of disinfectant and swear mixed in the air. as they walked further into the hall, Demelza’s eyes caught sight of her father’s tired gaze.
Her father’s face was etched with expressions of worry and tiredness. Demleza could feel her hand tremble as she reached out to hold her fayer. both father and daughter’s eyes welled up in tears as it had been a long time since they saw each other last. she mouthed the words I Love you to her dad.
She did that because it was not visiting hours and she wasn’t allowed to talk to a prisoner in the cell where there are no cameras watching.
Nathan had to pull some strings to ensure she saw her father. It annoys him because they needed to have a conversation with her father tomorrow for the court session the following day. Atleast, anything to make Demelza believe he was helping her out.
He had to act well so that she would believe him and he could get her to delete the video from her phone. He tried to get one of the wardens on duty to let Demelza have a conversation with her father but he couldn’t. Apparently not all cops can be bought.
He had to call Demelza and they both left the prison. Nathan offered to drop her off because he felt pity for her. It was sad to see her in that state.
“I want you to stop working in the restaurant.” Nathan said, breaking the silence.Content is © by NôvelDrama.Org.
Demelza turned to look at him as she wondered what exactly was his problem. It irritated her that at a time like this, his selfish desires are his priority. He couldn’t even consider her solemn mood.
“You’re funny.” She responded laughing.
“I don’t like the job. Your job at my Firm is decent enough and I pay You well enough.” Nathan said with so much pride.
“And you think the money is enough for me? Can you live on that?” Demelza asked him.
Nathan didn’t say anything but rather picked up his phone and in seconds, Demelza’s phone buzzed.
She picked up her phone to check the notification and her eyes widened from seeing how much money Nathan sent to her account.
“Are you mad?” She screamed in anger.
Nathan was shocked to see that reaction form her. He hoped it was going to relieve her and she would agree to quit her job at the restaurant but instead he got insulted.
“What I’m the actual fuck Nathan?” Demelza screamed out. Angrily.
“Aren’t you supposed to be happy? This lessens your burden and how you have to work.” Nathan said not understanding what the fuss is over.
“Hold up, wait. You paid my step mother hospital bills, yeah? You were the one that anonymously sent that money to me, yeah?” She asked him and he just kept looking at her.
“Stop the car.”
“What?” Nathan asked.
“I said you should fucking stop the car.” Demelza said on the Verge of losing her cool.
“You’re joking.” Nathan said.
“Try me.” Demelza responded, reaching for the steering wheel.
Nathan swiftly turned the steering wheel to the side and stepped on the brake immediately to avoid an accident.
Immediately the car came to a stop, Demelza got down and started walking away in anger.
Nathan went after her immediately because it was already late in the night and he couldn’t afford to leave her walking in the street.
